Hi there,
I have a bug in D2X. I ve had this for ages now and cant seem to sort it so hopefully you can help.
My older chars mini maps will no longer save. When I save and exit and come back they are not remmebered!
Which is damn annoying...
I ve tried delelting the map in the chars but to no avail...anyone help me here?

maps dont save....they are random and different every game u make, except for certain areas like throne,durance 3,cata 4 etc...

yes but where you have been on that map DOES save. As per the manual and as per the 4 chars I have who have completed the game!
Except that now with certain chars they dont save where you have been which is mightly annoying when you have explored a bit but the maps dont tell you so....
and I know for a fact it does save where you have been on said map as any new char i create does so.
So still need help!

...the map will be saved as long as you are in the game but if you leave they change and are not saved

trust us on this one, maps dont save.

Maps do save on single player but multi they are renewed every game

Sorry didnt make myself clear here! Single player im talking about not MP.
I know they dont on MP but as you say they do on Single but mine are not. I do trust you peeps but dont think i m neewb here please I`m not and have vast experience....
And seemlingly a bug which no one else knows about or has :( oh well i ll try a total reinstall.

Try and clear your d2 save directory of all the files except the .d2s ones. That may prevent you from having to do a full re-install. Just be sure NOT to delete the .d2s files, those are your savegames, everything else, including the .reg and .map files which are not crucial to your characters survival.

i just want 90 posts...^^ ok, maps do not save themselves on multiplayer maybe u were playing single?

Could be he changed difficulties. Even on single, new maps get generated when you change to another difficulty then go back.

I had the same problem and it was because i had saved my character and map files, burned them on a CD, formatted the drive, reinstalled D2X, copied the character files, etc.

But when you copy from a cd to your drive, it usually checks all the files as archive or read only. Go to your Save folder, hit Edit >> select all. Right click one of the character files and select Properties. Uncheck Archive, Read-only, or anything that won't let you write to them.

That should do it if you're having the same issue.
