View Full Version : Teleporting...

I've recently begun a meteorb sorc, after having played practically constantly as a pally in D2 (I've dabbled, but never really enjoyed other chars until now). It's been a slow re-learning process, but I've finally got the hang of what skills to use when etc....... however.....

Teleporting. I am scared to death of it. Or more correctly, I'm scared because death appears to be the natural result of teleporting when *I* do it. I do it occasionally to get back through a cleared area, or to jump out of trouble if I'm being swarmed, but as soon as I try to teleport through an untouched area, I'm getting into deep trouble.

My main problem is trying to do meph runs.....and in nightmare to boot (how embarassing). I don't know whether its something I'm doing, or just that my gear isn't good enough (I'm lacking in the shield department particularly).....but those stygian dolls have made me drink more rejuvs in a few seconds than I'd usually need in an hour. I haven't even dared trying it in nm baal runs...

Anyhow....any tips? Is it just a matter of luck or gear? I'd really like to improve on this as teleporting was one of the reasons I made a sorc - so I could MF at much higher speeds than my pally ever could, to get gear for him. Currently, he can run through levels faster than she can tele...

Try hugging the wall
Also go clockwise from the waypoint - i find it is easier to find the way down by doing it

Could you list your equipment please as i don't know what to suggest otherwise - you may need more fast cast - it should be above 63%fcr if possible. Lidless wall would help with this and is relatively easy to trade for. if you use max block i would use whitstans or moser for the added resist

hope that helps

Teleporting is never a matter of luck ;)

Some tips:
at least 63% FCR or more. THisis vital since you reach a breakpoint, that corresponds to the attack that those monsters try to make on you, so you will escape faster, even when beiing hit once.

If they seem to explode to often take the weapon from your Merc away. You can give it back when you are down on lvl3.

Some FHR migth help aswell, but really its all about FCR!!

Also when you are not that used to Teleporting, do it a bit slower or also run a bit. When you have enough practice, teleporting across chasms and walls will be no problem. Certainly though Teleporting is NOT a matter of luck!

Mantra: "To teleport successfully i need 63%+ FCR"
After that, practice, practice, practice.

I have FCR that fits and i keep the right mousebuttong down constantly with Teleport selected. My pointer is aim in the direction i want to teleport and i change that direction slightly so i do a bit of zig-zag-teleport. Works just fine.
I cant rememeber my starting times as a sorc, but since i started again with 1.10 i have only died very few times with teleport, and that in hundreds of Mephruns. Most was due to:
low FCR
low LIFE

Even if land in the middle of a mob, with sufficient FCR and maybe a MERc escaping those is no problem. IF it wont work for you just when you try it out with enough FCR, keep practicing!
Your reactiontime on pressing the button will need to be trained a bit unless you keep the mousebutton pressed for teleporting ;)

I was actually using less than 63%fcr before i found an arachnid mesh and i was just fine with my snowclash, it may have been a little slower but it gave me chilling armour which was useful against annoying blood lords, however, now that i have my arachnid mesh i never want to go back

Taking the weapon away from my merc - genius!

As for my sorc (she's lvl 80) :

STR - 121
DEX - 138
Forgot to look up vit, but she has about 400-500 life if I remember.
I do have quite a bit of stat points to share our, but I wanted to wait and see how much str and dex I'll need for my eventual set-up...

Weapon - Rare - +2 skills, 20% FCR, 3 chilling armor
Helm - Peasant crown
Armor - Ormus +3 meteor, 20% FCR (skullders when MFing)
Belt - Nightsmoke
Shield - Visceratuant
Gloves - Frostburns (chancies)
Boots - Infernotstrides
Ring 1 - Manald (nagel)
Ring 2 - Rare - 10% FCR
Ammy - +2 cold skills (35% MF magic)

As you can see - not the most fabulous set up, but my pally never really found anything, other than the skullders, so I can't afford much. When I'm MFing, I lose the 20%FCR from the Ormus, giving me a grand total of 30% when I'm trying to tele to mephy...

Any ideas on some cheap ways for me to get around this? (other than walking it lol).

Thanks for your help btw, I appreciate it :)

30% FCR ?!?! Outsch! Way to low.
Cheap? Magefist +20% magic 10% FCR ring, Lidless Wall 20%
Vipermagi (can get one with bad allres cheap) 30%
Reaching 63% does it for most players, especially those not used to teleporting.

i'd have to agree with melainor (sorry if i got the name wrong)
keep your mouse relatively 3/4ths away from your character (so not half away across nor all the way at the edge) this gives you some time to move across or around a mob

also move your cursor in a zig-zag motion, or circle motion, or even sideways, you don't want to get snagged on items (you can't teleport if your cursor is on a chest/item/etc.)

try practicing, you'll get teh hang of it

Get a WizardSpike, that already gives you 50% fast cast, tons of mana and tons of Resist.

A Holy Freeze merc with Reapers Toll can help a lot too. They will be sooooo slow to be able to do anything.

leave Ormus on until you get to the stairs to level 3, then switch armors
