Iron Golem Question

Yet another IG question.
Not sure if someone has answered this before.

What happens if you make an iron golem out of something like a Medusa's Gaze shield socketed with a jewel that does something when you die, and then someone in PvP kills the golem?

The Medusa would net about 370 lightning damage. I don't know if that'll be halved or cut to 1/6 (IG being a minion). Anyway, it won't do that much damage to an enemy. The same goes for jewels. The damage isn't all that high.

Is it even possible to make an Iron Golem out of a shield ? Its been awhile since I played a Necro, but I thought Iron Golems were made out of weapons.

Everything but "wooden" items. The border is kind of vague though. A thunder maul seems to be made mostly out of wood, but it can be made an IG.

Ditto above with Warpike - I mean where is the metal - maybe a little pointy bit on the end, but enough for a golem come on!

I am not sure about shields and golems as I trys a swordback Hold last night and that didn't work. Maybe a spiked shield is wooden?
Who knows with the idiosyncracies of Diablo2?
