Ed. Good luck on your new computer. You need 2 cd keys if you are going to run 2 different computers at the same time. You normally need two different cds too, 1 in each machine.

Thanks Walt, I already have 2 cds, I had one in my laptop for going on the road overnight, but it didn't really work out as the game doesn't play very well on the laptop. So I should be ok to put that in a second computer. I'm not really sure I can safely operate 2 at once, but I think I'll give it a try. :)

I do believe Pat was accepted into the alpha. I know Phur sent him a referal....so?

Also there is a couple of other methods people can use to get into the alpha. The first is a referal from a tester themselves (though I've refered maybe 7 people over the last week?? so I'd probably have to lay low for a while). the second is that various fan sites can recomend people for the alpha test. So long as you are an active participant on one of those fan sites you have a decent chance.

My little barbarian made it into Act 3 of Nightmare last night. He's now level 43 and wearing his Arreat's Face now :) Thanks to Jeff for the help and company as my barbarian trekked through the Arcane Sanctuary and then in to battle Duriel.

Skunkbelly, I'll probably be playing tonight in Act 3. I can help you finish Act 2 though if you want to quest with me. I'll be on *dell30.

Yes, Baal was kind enough to finally drop a Schaefer's for me. :clap: Now I have to decide whether to invest the points to meet the strength reqs or to stick with the original plan to use Azurewrath in the non-Oblivion Knight areas. If I raise my strength, then I could also upgrade my GA. On the other hand, more strength means less life.

For the Oblivion Knight infested areas, I like Kar's idea for a weapon using "passion" rune word and bezerk skill. In that light, if anyone stumbles upon a superior cryptic sword (no socket or 4 socket), my pally will be set on gear.

i most certainly will :) recently we've gotten a bit of a dii.net influx coming over to our fansite. its kinda cool recognizing everyone as they come over. i think GW will have the same effect on people that diablo has. i tend to lose track of time when i'm playing.

Wow! Outstanding find! I've seen a couple Stone Crushers, but I think Schaeffer's is very rare in 1.10. I'd say go for the Schaeffer's and upgrade the GA.

I had fun with the nooblar sorcs (Jer and Lib) last night.... One run we are killing the Ventar/Lister pack and one of them wander off and activate a nearby boss pack. So I say "Don't go exploring. ;)" Couple runs later, one of them is picking up gold or pots when Lister lands on thier head and they nearly die. "Don't walk up in there to pick stuff up, use telekinesis." Couple runs later, one of them fires at a doll pack as I happen to be walking by and I nearly die. "Don't kill the dolls when someone is standing next to them." Frequent merc deaths from the hydra. "Raise his FR or teleport away to collect your merc." Anyway before long they were calling me the "Baal ****". :lol: It's hard to find good help these days... Oh was that TP a little too hot? Gee, sry. :p

On a lighter note, we found a set troll belt. They used to trade for a bunch. Anyone know how they fare these days?

A "1" doesn't mean the throne room is clear, just that there aren't any nasties waiting at the tp. If anyone needs the room cleared before coming down, then they wait until Sky opens a tp.

I've had a few hairy situations like that with FI's... especially if my merc has died. I can't kill them fast enough with my FO to keep a safe distance. I've had to bail out to a side room a couple of times now when my merc died and I couldn't give a relative safe cushion at the tp.

Well if you guys would like some more company on those runs, I'd like to join you. And I don't mind hot TPs. My pally will go through anything. Like most hammerdins, he has high resist, nice life with BO, and ridiculous defense with Shout and Holy Shield. So I'll pop through any TP and help clear out an area.

Well its spring break for me, so i get today tommorow and friday off. I should be playing quite a bit in that time. But friday some friends are coming over, and saturday we are all going to a Paintball Tourney. Then sunday im hanging out with G/F So i dont know how much playing time i will have this weekend

Also PBW: Not shure if you check here any more, but would you recomend a WGP 04 Vertical Autococker. It seems like a pretty dencent cocker, and you really cant beat the price and i like the looks. Plus alot of people say they are very upgradable. Im just kinda looking for an outside opinion besides my friends because all they can do is drool and say how much they hate me because i can afford it.(also my friend has an 03 and says he loves it...)
Im using a Spyder Imagine right now(first gun ever), and im looking a for a tournement grade gun that is very upgradeable.
O 1 more question :D, Freak barrel system, or Boomstick/ultralite.

Good morning misfits, didn't get to play any last night, but I did get my new computer. Got home too late to put it all up, but I'm hoping to get it put together this afternoon if I can slip away from work for a bit. Going to look at a house this evening, and make an offer, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. This would be our first house so I'm pretty excited.

Great find Way and Sky. You should use the Schaffers just for the coolness factor. :)

My barbarian continued his journey and made it through Act 3 of Nightmare last night. I got on a little later than I planned, I guess I missed you Skunkbelly :( Thanks to Jeff for the company. We ripped through Act 3 pretty well. Now my barbarian is level 47 (almost 48) and heading into Act 4.

I did most of act 3 solo (all quests and wps except trav and meph) in about 70 minutes last night. Fun, and great exp, too... went from lvl 46-51.

Ok i have a few questions on what to equipe my sorc with.
Im shure the first thing that comes to mind would be tals. But unfortunatly i dont have what it takes to trade for the armor...I MIGHT key word might be able to get everything else(actually im pretty shure i could get everything else except maybe the ammy). The only way i would get the armor is if baal would be so kind to drop one with a baal run wich sky and way so kindly told me i could have the next one.
So on that note, i would like to build it around the use of tals, but untill i get it, what should i use in its place. I have a Wiz spike(ty dubby) and a couple of viseraunts, wich i could upgrade. Im also using frosties right now. So if anyone has any suggestions i would be really greatful.
BTW: Shes lvl 35 right now...She was in norm baal runs but i wasn't paying attention and i was in a good run, we had done about 7 or so runs, and the next thing i know i exit out of the game, i get the end game vid, wich didnt make me to happy, because now im gana have to use a LL game finder...

Way, i found a Cryptic sword last night, its not superior, but i remember you saying you were looking for one so i picked it up. If you need it, its on a mule, and im shure i can get it to you sometime tonight.

I've been looking at sorc equip a lot lately, for my fball/meteor/forb sorc and Lib's clit/forb sorc. Tal's is tough to beat. It's got a lot of great extras you might not even notice, like tons of life and fhr. If you're not wearing the armor, then you are probably very short on resists (50 from the set + 40 from the armor itself), I'd recommend some resist armor, Viper, smoke, etc. Viper is nice because you can rebalance FCR and you get a skill point.

With full Tal's I recommend magefist, even if you are not a fire sorc. This will give you 70 FCR, meeting the 63 FCR breakpoint. I like storm simply because there is no other way to get DR. A FR/-req jewel is IMO the best socket for the storm on a Tal's set sorc. (saves 23 str) The upgraded visc is a very good choice, saving lots of str and dex. Pdia or um is fine. For boots I prefer Sandtrek. The poison resist matches well with Tal's armor, the 20 FHR hits 2 more break points, str and vit too! Travs are another popular choice of course but by the time you balance out your charms the travs won't have that much more MF. Dwarfstar is a must IMO, life, fire absorb, and MDR. Alot of people like raven, but I don't use it. Being frozen does not affect cast rate and the cold absorb is not necessary. The dex is usefull, but I made the choice to go with a BK ring instead for the life and skill point. Lib uses an SOJ as she is a bit more mana intensive being a lit sorc.

IMO Tal's plate is over priced. (I know I'm gonna get flamed for this one.) It's really not that rare, I find one every couple hundred Baal runs. I'm sure I've found 10+ of them. I've given plenty of them away and traded a bunch more. I'd give you one but I'm fresh out at the moment as I just had to supply Lib and Jer. The ammy seems to be much more rare, I've never found one. (This is probably because I only run Baal these days, I guess Meph has a chance to drop the ammy but not the armor.) Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for one for you too.

So what beats Tal's? Swapping out for shako + wizzy? Nope, if you run the numbers Tal's still wins. Swapping out for HotO + shako? Nope, this one is closer but in the end Tal's still wins. Griffon eye would hit the next FCR breakpoint (103 IIRC) and a FR/-req Storm would be prefered to rebalance the DR. 2 less skills, but the +lit dmg, -enemy lit resist, and FCR on the helm more than make up for it.

Notes: I'm assuming BO. I don't know anything about cold sorcs. Sry this post is so long, it's just something I was looking at recently.

She is a Forb/Fire wall sorc that im gana use to run meph and andy with.(max Forb, max cold mast, max ice bolt, max fire wall, and some into fire mast, 5 or so into static). Also, i went with E sheild, was this a waste?? Since i did go with it, do i need to max telekenisis now?? Or can i put a few points into it, and be ok? Ok now, almost everything you name up there i might have a little trouble getting my hands on. I was looking through my mules, and i dont have as much as i thought i did. Its all been put on my merc for my sin, or on my sin. I have a few things that might be worth trading but not much. I might stop by the trade forum, and post what i have, and tell them ill take any tals peice for it. Also if i do try and trade for something... Its gana have to be one or the other, i cant go trading for viper and the like and then get tals later. Heh storm(both of the the boots and the sheild), hmm well that might also be another thing that would be hard for me to trade for. With the above set up (tals, and storm, with a -15 req jewel) what would be my required strength and what would i need dex wise to around max block, im not worried about getting 75, but i would like to get atleast 60.
I will have bo only when im in baal runs with sky and way, i have a second computer, but no cd key, and im also running on 56k, and i would imgine the lag having 2 diablos running on 1 phone line would be tremendous.

Well if i can collect 65 pgems reallly soon, i can get the belt the mask and sand storm treks. Cows are best place to gem hunt right??? I would asume hell would be best...But hell cows might be a little scary.. I dunno i guess all i can do is try.

We did have some other highlights during the Baal runs...

-Eric got his sorc to level 90 (but I think she's going to retire once he gets the weapon and gear for his new sorc :lol: )

-Sky hit 88 with her new zon

-Some of the younger 70ish characters made a few levels

-Ruby inched another notch up the overall ladder (19?)

-Pub inched closer to 98

I played my pally for a little bit too last night, too. He made it to Lower Kurast in Hell. I've read where Pally's in 1.10 were too weak in Hell, but he doesn't seem to have any trouble killing anything...at least not yet. He's almost a 79 and I've pretty much decided to go Schaefer's instead of Azurewrath. I may have to get another couple of levels to have the strength to equip it though. Plus I'm still hoping to find a superior cryptic sword to make a "passion" weapon so that he can do CS.

Yeah i believe that nm cows drop flawless, i also think they dont drop as generously as hell cows do, but like you said nm cows would be MUCH safer. I guess i better get started.

Well the nm cows idea just went down the drain, with out looking, i killed the kidn thinkign it was just another special, and i didnt see the pin... So i guess im gana try hell cows. Not shure if my sin can do it, but im gana try, besides i only got 2 flawless out of the whole run... Collecting these pgems is gana be harder then i thought.

Well since they both have a spell timer, then FCR maybe isn't so critical. But then again you will be teleporting in to Meph, so I would think 63FCR should still be worth shooting for.

I don't know about ES. I went without to save the skill points, but I have heard ES can be usefull.

Well I know there is stuff like wizzy and visc on the misfit mules. (PM me for the account info.) There may be a low end viper, but I'm not real sure. I would have no objections if you would want to clean out the mules and trade the items for the stuff you need. I think there are things on there like bonehew, maybe reaper's toll, and Goldy that you could maybe trade up for Viper etc. I think there is even an Eagle in there too. (I'd would just give you a viper, but I seem to be out of those now too! I'm actually not sure what I did with them. :scratch: ) I think maybe Phur has a viper, I'll check his account too. I know I got some sandtrek boots and I think there is some on the misfit mules too. A storm might be tricky... I actually see less storm (and shako) than tal's plate.

The str req is 133 on a storm with a -req jewel (vs 156 normally). IMO even a vanilla -req jewel is better in storm than UM! 23 str is hard to make up in charms (9+ squares), but 22 FR isn't bad (2+ squares). (Plenty of cold, lit, poison resist between Tal's ammy, storm, and sandtrek boots.) I traded Tal's plate for a 27FR/-req jewel that Lib is using. (I overpaid according to market price, but IMO it was a fair trade as I overvalue the jewel and undervalue Tal's plate.) My friend Jer is just using a mana/-req jewel. So in theory 133 str -15 str from perfect sand trek boots -20 str from a perfect anni = 98 str. Not bad at all. You also get +30 str from the storm itself. So with 68 str, you could temporarily equip charms (or a str ring or whatever), equip the storm, and then remove the charms. This does work, but if you go in and out of the game it checks and the storm will be red when you return. You could re-equip the charms again every game, but it is a pain. However, I have also found you don't need the full 98str for it to work across games. I still haven't figured it out exactly but you do get some kind of partial credit, perhaps based on the other +str equip. E.g. I think Lib has < 98 str, but I also know it didn't work properly at 68. I've tried all kinds of things to figure it out and the numbers just don't add up. I kinda wish they had just left it like in 1.09, even though it would mean the full 98 str.

(If that paragraph made no sense, don't worry about it.)

You'll different opinions on this. Ruby has a single point in ES (along with many +skills) and I never use it. I had it for safety early in her life because I'm relatively new to sorcs, but now I wish I had that point and the five prereqs back to use in other skills.

My Blizz/CL (<---- note the socially acceptable abbreviation of Chain Lightning ) sorc runs Andy and Meph just fine without BO and uses visc. No ES either. I've done a few tele Baal runs with this equipment and BO, but I'm not sure I'd want to do it all the time.

Hmm, well its to late now to go back to get the points back for e sheild, its only like 3(with pre reqs) points anyways...(im not to worried about perfection here, just the ability to run meph and andy like i said safly. Plus this is my third attempt at this sorc, and the other 2 never made it to norm baal, so im tired of trying to get her there lol.) Hmm ok on the strength, i dont have an extra anni laying around, much less a perfect one lol. Im just gana figure going with 98, or do i need to go higher since i dont have the anni, and a perfect sandstorm? I have a wizzy, and 2 visc actually, and im using one right now on her. Ill check the misfit mules for the viper(i have the account info), and im not gana clean out the misfit mules for trading, some one else may have a use for something i traded away for my own benifit. Can anyone point me in the direction of a blocking calc, or give me the equation(sp?) for it.

But i will either let you have them sky, or the next charm we get from baal runs i will take it and roll away, and see what i can get, witht the like 20 gems that i got.

Cicero, have you thought about using Ck boots instead of Sandtreks. If you go with the upgraded Visc and CK boots with your Tal set then your STR requirement will top out at 84 because of the Tal plate. Assuming you have a decent stat anni charm you could probably go with an STR below 70 easy. You'll get 20 dex from CK boots to help your blocking. I know it doesn't quite match the attribute points from you Sandtreks because you 10-15 STR and VIT but if you have a bad pair, you're only losing a couple stat points. You also don't get the PR or FHR, but I don't know how important they are to really have. I've never had problems with poison, maybe because I always carry one antidote potion around for the hell of it. You do lose 2 frames on the FHR but with max block and the fact that you shouldn't be getting hit if position your sorc properly, you really shouldn't need FHR that much. The bonus of CK boots is the extra MF of course. Not saying this setup is better or worse really, just another possibility that I happen to like :)

IIRC, Cheng also seemed confident visc would be fine for tele-to-baal. I agree with the tele part. That's usually not the problem. The problem is when you 'land' and you have to clear the throne room on your own (when solo) or while you 'hold the line' untill some help shows up (when in a group). Part of it is play style too, I tend to get in thier face more. Between that and playing solo (sometimes in a 4ppl game), I prefer the storm. With this in mind I think storm was a good choice for my friend Jer too, but perhaps Lib could have gotten by with upgraded visc.

Kaos, I also made another misfit mule. I didn't know the status of the other ones at the time. PM me if you dont find it in the regular ones.

jhcarle, untill recently no, because I didn't think I would ever find CK boots as I don't run cows. However I did pick up a pair in a recent cow run (norm even!). I've thought about it, I think Lib used them for awhile even. It's a good alternative. My PR issue is a bit more complicated. I found that my PR was too low with the 2nd minion pack when soloing Baal. It required too many pots and going to town wasn't an option. I bring a convic pally down with me who then leaves the party and I don't want to leave him there by himself while I pop back up to town. And I don't have room in my belt or inv for anidote pots (I'm one of those TP-on-the-belt guys). With max PR, I can get through the poison with just a couple red pots. On the other hand, the extra FHR is a little bit of an overkill. I used to tele with just the 25fhr from tal's set. The hit recovery problems were minor, I didn't even notice them. Add a 5fhr sc and even those go away.
