Well its that time again. Time to go to the most extreme hard core place in hard core.....hard core classic asia. If anyone out there is tired of running the ladder via no risk stand in one place and obliterate the monster spawns exp. TEB is running asia again. I think anyone who has ever run asia hcc and hcx any server and hcc any other server will agree that its prolly the toughest place you will ever play. And for that reason its not very fun at all for some people not for everyone. But if one person out there is looking for a major challenge ( I think sting would appreciate this since he hooked up with us last year on asia when we put out the asian challenge and we been running together ever since.)
this would be it.
You let go of good games full of people( there is just about no one there)
You give up on leeching/relying on a party for the majority of your exp(there isn't hardly anyone there)
You give up good items and play with total crap( I can't even find anyone who trades in this place.)
You play in an economy with no dupes( well there are no trading markets all just about on the server.)
You give up having the joy to listen to beautiful spam bots tell you the lattest sale(no dupes no items = no spam bots)
You give up your nice ping (I'm on 56k so I go from a 200-250 ping avg on east to a 400-500 poing avg on asia.
If your on cable you'll prolly go from like what 50 to about 200? Something like that the lag is brutal)
You give up nice safe( dare I say boring?) baal runs( At end game you run around the cs with the possibility of monsters coming from you at all directions never knowing when a lag spike could jump on ur rear. Ahh the fun of it)
A good coordinated team that plays smart and builds good characters has a good chance to make it fairly high on the ladder since the ladder there is pretty low due to all the difficulties of playing on the server.
Very bored of a way to easy exp system in xpac? Or just very crazy?( you really need to be both to even try asia1 hcc) If your interested hit me up
Hmm sounds like it could be fun...Is there certain times you will be playing? If so could you run them by me so i could see if i will be able to make it on at those times. I cant play anytime past 10:00 central, as i have school and thats usually the time my parents make me get off the computer...Weekends, i can play all night if needed :D

I'm making a holy shock paladin right now but I if like a bunch of people want to do lightning sorcs or javas I'll be happy to change to like convict veng or whatever would be most helpful.

anyhow I was just over there. One person is making an orb sorc, I'm working on the holyshock guy and Bird stopped by. Looks like Bird is making a paladin too but has many other chars.
it shouldnt be too hard to come up with a really nice group that can pretty much mow down the chaos sanc and RoF

Sure you can.
Just make one of the original char classes and don't check the expansion char box.
By the way 1.10 'classic' isnt as played out as I thought it was. I'm having fun and looking forward to going farther with it. my little paladin is level 18 now. so in just 6 more levels he'll finally get holy shock. (knock on wood) :winner:

On the Asia1 classic hardcore ladder....
To achieve a place in the amazon ladder you must attain the lofty gol of level 16 (!)
If you want to get your char up there before the reset man you better start now! :lol:
Getting on the overall ladder there is twice as difficlt as you will need the patience to get level 33!
there are a few level 90s. the top ten overall is around 88+
Well I tried last night but after five minutes waiting could still not even start a game. Mind the cable was generally slow as it was peak surfing time. Will try again but may just be too poor a connection to use.

For those who are of questionable beliefs in the realm of pking who wana come over and scope it out your welcome to run as well dont use team tag though plz. Also if you start pking over there can't run /w ya. However I'm gona make a barb v barb dueler if that will take care o anyones pvp desires while campin on asia this is primarily for the pvm public though

When you log on there is 1 count em 1 usa channel thats it.
If no one is there its a small chance to find some axion in op teb.

Can you tell me where to find a complete item/rule list for D2 Classic? What are the "crushing blow" possibilities?
i also just saw this thread. i generally quit playing d2 due to the poor quality of east atm and was planning on starting up again with the next ladder reset, but this idea sounds pretty good. i'm about to go check out how laggy it is with my cable (NC). not sure what character i'll start but you can find me at *z3r0-asia

or some good fire absorb. in 1.09? maybe earlier... i used to run nm diablo with a blackhorn's face. (this was when d's lightning hose >> fire hose). Then his cold attacks/phys attacks would hurt me, but his lightning hose would heal me back up. I could stand there forever. It was wonderful :D
yeah i started a spearzon, i think... its lvl 13 played wit ha few people tonight. onyl one i remember was unholy. but it ws a good night, pretty much no1 else on. hope to see u all on.

although that sounds like a good idea, the fact of the matter is that if there are people playing in your difficulty you will see their game. i played for about 4 or 5 hours yesterday and saw a max of maybe 3 games up at one time. with the use of "/f l" and the low number of games, it isn't worth posting each game on the forums. it was a good idea, but we figured out that teblets are about the extent of the asia classic population.

Well I managed to get on and play a bit last night..no problem connecting no lag. Started a lightning javazon (TEB-Viasia). Saw Bigboo for a bit (thanks for the shield). Someone else from TEB came on and heaped a world of goods on me. Made it to level 5 and stopped after killing Blood Raven and one of Crypt or Mausoleum.
A few surprizes...having only played classic for about a week about two years ago I had forgotten much. Carefully planned out my javazon annd considering how to deal with LI's by either going with high elemental pike or bow with freezing arrow on switch...on switch....on switch?????....dang no switch. Oh well I think, I'll just load up some other damage on my merc. Now to put a nice three socket hunters on my rogue I just hired. Hmmm dang why won't "O" work. (press....press.....press harder....nothing). (Dim light comes on recalls cannot equip merc...bloody hell). Thanks also for the new mini-chest to store .....well....practically nothing. (Note to self-make mule soon).
Well there were a few revelations. But gee I am now really looking forward to some different challenges. I think it's going to be a blast.
A few questions for you classic players....
1. Is there any value in hiring a merc in classic? Will they ever live long enough or dish out enough damage to become useful? Or are they just a cash drain?
2. With no weapon switch is trying to deal out a second type of damage for LI's viable. I figure by the time I identify LI's, run away a bit open inventory, switch weapons and close inventory I am dead. Should I just pump lightning and count on partying up in nightmare and beyond? (unless merc can help dep on answer to 1).
3. Is there a classic guide somewhere?

Mercs don't travel across acts in classic, so no they're really not worth the effort. Well a might merc might help a necro get through the arcane + maggot quicker in A2.
With your javazon remember you are going to have CRAZY leeching problems with such low base damage weapons, and no nice sources of 10% from a mask or anything silly like that.
Just don't start pumping dex to help your blocking ^_^

I think there isnt a dex adds to block formula in classic. If a shield does 72% block, then it does so even with base dex.

Yeah, what winona said, listed block on shield = what you're blocking is, unless you're wearing a twitch.
and weapon speed doesnt affect ww just to know...

Got on long enough to put account in order: *thebigT.
Did the "where did my inventory go? OOOh yeah Claaassssic." Now I understand why STINGER kept popping in and dumping gear (thx again, by the way), no where to put it, LOL. Ran into Kaos and a couple others. They were sufficiently far ahead of me that I went to a new game and started pounding the enemy with my baba. Still trying to figure out what to do with him.
Connection wasn't bad (cable in from Eastern Mass.) - ping averaged around 200.

Didn't catch who gave me some nice gear and gold. Level 60 something Pally...but thanks again I'll be sure to pass it down if and when I've outgrown it.
My acct on Asia is TEB14 and anyone who has contacted me or Bird we have tried to organize into a game even if lvls vary so that they can get beter exp and catch up to the rest of us vacationers.
As for items available and a strategy for getting going in Classic i will add a few things here for you.
Only Normal Class Uniques and Sets are in Classic
Steel and Snaps are godly, and even the lowest Snap possible out kills the a decent Martel or sword.
Sigs and Hsarus stuff are king for AR gear as well as Angelics.
Crushing itesm were listed and there are a couple more like Rixots but Bird got the main ones.
Even if you get the best of the best sets and uniques available in Classic you will fail miserably without good rares.
Rares rule Classic and the best way to get godly rares is gambling.
gamble, Gamble, Gamble, and when you are done gambling then gamble some more!!! So are we clear on this one?
Gambling from my EXP is best done from about 24-50 After 50 stuff gets expensive and new mods that you dont want become available. Pick up everything and sell everything and gamble everything.
Slowly educating myself about classic (no runes, no charms, crappy uniques, no class stuff etc etc) ....is it correct that are no rare Jav's in classic?
Regardless I am going to just plow ahead and see what drops. If are no rare javs I guess I should forget gambling for them any more.

no rare javs u just deal it out /w light dmg
if u run into a LIght immune that means your in hell mod.......if your in hell mod then your probably /w at least 2-3 other ppl.....so dont worry about LI's if you can kill the non LI's thats all u gota worry about. Carry lots of pots
thats my advice for mana problems.....2x mana pots in inventory *_*
Thanks Bird. I am thinking mana should not be a huge issue as these attacks (except maybe LF) are not big mana hogs. Prefer to keep three slots for life and rejuvies and just fill from inventory if need mana if slot 4 empties.

That build wont work so hot now without mastery bugs and only 1/2 PvP for throw weapons.
At 1/6 I think you might be in the 60/Phoon area.
BTW, Phoons and Javas and he like in Clasic due to being nonmagical also dissapear after thier quantity is used up.
Now in 1.09 I had a Java in classic and she did fine with a TON of leech using Phoons but I still had to drink pots. You can get mana/kill on rings, but i am not sure you can anywhere else. I suggest as a "young java" or any young caster to snag a 2 sock helm and slap a couple saphires in it to help with mana for a while. I also suggest relying on CS a lot more than your LF as truely LF is a pack skill, a tight pack skill where CS an LS are great for single and scattered packs.

Yes I had a laugh when I used up my last javelin in the cave in the Cold Plains reasonably busy killing thinking I would just start jabbing and suddenly I was empty handed. Had to run and TP quick.

WoE and Twitch in Hell and even in NM could make you a nice dead java pretty quickly as it will take godly gears to get the rez or Irthras set and godly Jewlery. Not something you are going to find on a first character.
I usually skip the cows....just something about all that mooing that makes me feel silly playing the game.

Cows in Hell give you nothing.....no charms, runes, nothing so building a Java soly for cows is basically limiting yourself to lvl 61-62 or a VERY slow 65 in NM and possibly a quick death in hell cows with NO Bo as a Barb cant phathom killing a Hell cow and would be stupid to do cows for no exp!
Besides, Javas can OWN in CS as there is only one base LI and they are the spirit type things which crumble to cold spells from sorcs/ Javas also own a big part of Flayer Jungle as about half is Ci and the other half is LI and these two places are the better lvlin areas. I beleive the River only has two LI spawns which are knights and spirit things onec again.

First how do you know if you are in asia one. I only got one asia option when picking realm, and the channel reads asia11-usa. It fits the bill of no - body on. I thought i did see a teb person in a game, not hard since there is like one game going.

I think i'll give this a shot too, i'll be on Birds_Challenge (hopefully, haven't even tried to make it yet). I've become bored with everything after losing all my mules (read: ALL my mules... 4 accounts of them) and being left with just my 89 sin on EHCL to rebuild and outfit my duelers.
I think i'll try either a zealot, ww barb or bowazon. Hope to see y'all there.

SInce this has turned into a D2C strat discussion...
My holy shock guy is coming along nicely. Level 33 (thx to Bird Sting and others cowing us new guys) And soon I'll have shock and resist lightning maxed.
wondering what people think are good ways to spend the rest of the skill points preferably so he has a good way to deal with LI monsters. Here are a few things I thought of...
a) smite (max holyshield, I already use a superfast weapon, would have to get as much CB as possible to make it work)
b) Stick to zeal and use CB items
c) Train holy freeze/resist cold and switch back and forth
d) a few points into vengence and a bunch in conviction
e) something else I havent though of.
I'm leaning toward the vengance option but with a few reservations. On the up side I would only need a few in vengence to get a very decent amount of damage bonus, conviction is very nice in parties with sorcs, and it would allow me to also put a bunch of points into salvation, meditation, and maybe some other good auras that will help in certain situations.
on the downside my build is based on a super-quick low damage weapon that I can zeal away with and never worry about IM as I deliver an average of 1.5k lightning damage per hit with zeal.
So i would pretty much have to use a different weapon for vengance since vengance only works with a high damage weapon.
If I did the holy freeze option it will be a total of 80 points between the two attacks not leaving much for other important skills.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appriciated.

It was a Blast... lvl 1 -> lvl 42 with TEB. I havn't had this much fun with DII in a long time.

Asia 1 is the default when you pick "Asia" from the list of East/West/Europe/Asia. To switch to Asia 2 or 3 you click on the "change realm" button on the top right of the character select screen and it gives you a list.

First thought that crossed my mind was "I'ma get me some TEB ears"...Then I saw that pretty much they were the only ones that played...so I have to postpone my plans *rolls eyes* eh bird? ( Never saw some on so paranoid of my presence in a good long time)
Ping's still pretty decent. 160 ish Could very well be enjoyable.

Heh. Nightshade figured out
what I figured out right away looks like. Namely that if you are going to be a pker on asia1 classic Hardcore you will spend x hours making your l33t pkzor char basically for one shot at a pk because the first time you go hostile no one is going to invite you into their private games and since there are usually exactly 0 public ones....
Anyway thats ok. the party play is fun and building chars for classic 1.10 is a new twist on the game for me.
Besides which I have pk chars on LoD east, Lod europe, and LoD asia1 and soon will have them in all the LoD realms. Even in the LoD realms on asia its hard to find enough games going on to really have much chance to pk but I did get one ear with a low level kicker. :clap:

Its rly silly how many ppl are like " Bird why won't you xp /w me?" ect. ect. just wanted to make that clear up front so I don't have ANOTHER person crying at me tt. Hey, I just wanted to say how much fun it was tonight leveling from scratch in Asia. My first char, a tesladin, died at lvl 20 after learning how bad 0 fire resistance hurts when surrounded by venom lords in the steppes. Luckily, my second shot at glory has been going much better. I now have a lvl 23 lf/cs zon who managed to get 2 cathan's rings and cathan's armor (thanks for the help guys). Its so much fun playing with n00b items and feeling 1337.
I'm probably going to try to play a bunch (and as a college student who doesn't enjoy going to most of his classes, I can play more often then healthy), so i'm sure i'll be seeing you all again on a regular basis. Good luck to all :)

haven't been able to get on much (family in town this weekend) and busy as usual. The baba is up to 12 and still in A1. Any thoughts on viable builds (is ww about it) for babas in classic (first time messing around in here). Was thinking about a iron or Frenzy for fun, but began to question the logic.
Any input would be much appreciated.

My first attempt at an HC character ever met his demise on a stair well in the arcane sanctuary... do to the little known.. but always seen Lag Monster. :) haha.. though he was just a level 16... my heart sank when I saw the... you've died screen. Haha.. I'm hooked

Hephasto was almost dead and the zons valks were getting owned. I decided to try zealing him. SMACK dead. It was before school so I was kicking my self all though school about how we coulda beaten it if I had used thorns :/

So 1.09 legit bvb was for the richest, I never made one not able to find appropriate stuff (like play with what I find), so I switched to bva etc (was fun, especially a necro project, built 5 pvp necs and finally figured what will be pwnage:

death sash if there were cold dmg, otherwise lenymo
soj + rare fcr mana ring
civerbs ammy (!)
magefists
nice rare boneshield with block, fhr and dtm
30 frw + mana boots
maxed LR, IM, BS, BA and rest into BW
This setup I used vs amas and necs, had 800 mana, 75 fcr, good fhr, frw and insane mana regen (best have nice repl too)- used LR +BS and then BP. For barbs switched to umes, iratha combo, +2 rare ammy, 2 sojs, twitch, used IM + BW/LR+BS. For sorcs I used 3 pd tower, full iratha, sojs and umes (BW/LR+BS). Was fun because no classic ama ever thought of being killed by a necro - that was 1.09 :)

Why LR + BS?
Last I checked LR only lowers elemental resists...thought decrep was sort of the standard curse for 1.09 PvP necros (except for the ones using PN).
LR increased spirit dmg by 60% or so...
In 1.10 doesnt affect it AFAIK
As to decrep, I though about using it, but it has too small radius and 1.09 ama only had to lock you to kill, so getting her onscreen was impossible
Unlike decrep, LR has huge radius (2-3 screens) and nice duration (not 15 sec as maxed decrep)
In 1.05 (?) decrep also had big radius that gave decisive advantage to the nec

I gotta say this. Maybe its just because there arent all the charms and runes and stuff but man, the drops seem really stingy over there that was about my 8th or 9th run of meph/diablo and i hadnt found a sinle unique or set item worth keeping (only 3x isenheart's case!)

I'm thinknig my next try might be a hammerdin or a sorc of some sort. getting to level 24 was brutal without good equipment and runnnig with level 1 holy freeze.

try mfing rady... in my sample size of 1 run, he dropped me the uberest of leet items, the nagelring :D

My axe baba is almost 22 now. SOOOO much easier now that I got a nice fast attack speed 1H wep than that normal speed 2 handed one...
To the classic baba people:will I be able to kill in hell with base dex?
And as for the MF try mephey. I got a twitch and some other nice drops from him in 1.09 with a lvl 23 or something nova sorcey.
low dex doesnt prevent from killing
For example, 1 angelic ring gives at lvl 60 same AR (720) as 180 (?) dex
I think dex is pure waste for a baba - use any mace and pump vita (battle hammer is best choice)

Seem like if you get some decent MF you'll end up with a lot better chance of finding them in classic just becuase of the fact that there are no bul-katos, ravenfrost, ect ect... also less total possible item types.
Also more chance to get the lowish level set/unique items (like angelics which I almost never find in LoD) Twitch, and other cool stuffs since you wont be getting all those l33t sanders wands all the time like in LoD! :lol:

The % block on sigons makes it sexy now too.

Sorry about your amazon relativity saw you today iirc, ran w Cerebus a bit yesterday and yes a charitable TEB sorc rushed me through normal. So I have a level 18 Countess...which feels kinda of silly actually. Now have to go back and level up through the quests again anyhow. At least I have 20 more life to do it with.
Bird and Stinger were soooo right. Mana is a huge issue. My amazon (generally) moves patheticly slowly through areas as she throws away all her javas and chugs all her mana pots just to kill a dozen or so monsters then TP back to town to repair buy more mana and repeat. Thank God in A2 i can at least buy spears instead of having to gamble everytime I use one too many.
Found an Umbral disc if anyone wants it just whisper, i don't see myself using it (tho block is pretty good) as i think I prefer the large shield with flawed and chip diamonds for now (if only I could socket it). Thanks to those who helped me out today and we'll see you in Asia.
Out of curiousity how do you guys go about playing classic with expack installed.... do you have to uninstall and reinstall every time? Wondering cus i use a pos 2x cd player and it takes a half hour to install LOD lol. I think ill start classic and join you guys
Edit: Bah nvm... i use a No-CD erm.. program since my stupid Creative cd drive doesnt work for D2(despite whatever the patch data says) and the program only works for LOD. Too bad :grrr:

umm, i made this same mistake too. To play classic with us, all you have to do is unclick the box that says "expansion" when you create the character. You'd just have to uninstall if you wanted to play an older patch.
Ooops forgot about that... after i uninstalled everything lol... Ty for reminding me... ill join you guys tomorrow... i need a way to make hc chars on my new acc.... isnt there a file with single player lvl 99s on d2.net? Gunna have to get that. Acc will be *Gravez.

Ill try and help with some general questions:
Melee in Classic is simply a very tuff way to start as getting a good weapon and a little crushing is a bit difficult, but not impossible. Two Hand Barbs can pretty much kick some major booty with some well shopped items and decent rares with WW.
Concentrate, Frenzy, Zerk are all some slow killers especially 1 handed as getting 1 hand big damage is very rare. So basically frenzy is very tuff without an item base to work with. Now not to scare anyone away, a Zerker and Conc barb are still very nice in a party setting but the WW barb can solo better. And yes of course CB makes all the difference in the world.
If you wanted to go with a dead simple build with a simple item plan it is Clegs Set. I have a lvl 56 Clegs Barb that can kill in Hell Classic and he will only get better. Yes he leech is a pain as the low end is so low that sometimes I have to drink mana and or life but the build works.
Also for those Holy Shocker guys, message me I found a couple scpeters with + to Holy Shock......sorry yours croaked unholy.
Personally I prefer Ancient Axes and Martels over any other builds. Lances are very nice but durability is so low it costs and fortune in TPs and TPs are cheap so that should tell you how much repair time you ahve in Hell. Nagas are simple the best 1 Hand weapon, but durability is also poor. I have a 70 Brb with a 90 Naga (90 is poor) and with GToes he kills just fine in Hell on East.
This list of items sounds like the easiets attainable list thier is but in fact is it pretty damn tuff to get.

Now in Xpac most people throw these away at least weekly and some daily but unfortunately in Classic these things dont drop all that much. Now as soon as you find one of them though your are liable to be blessed with 4-5 pretty fast as that is how it goes.
Angelics IMO are Godly for any Classic build especially thru Norm and NM, it has excellent stuff for Casters as well as melee.
Now I took things vrey slow in Asia, I wanted to get myself pretty setup before entering the next difficulty so I got myslef to the Council in Norm and NM and then I stayed there until I had aquired items to be ready to move on.
Norm Council supplied me with two full sets of Angelics and i started with 0 MF. I also got tons of gold and gems and made me a shiled and gambled some decent rares. I also got a Maelstrom which may be junk in Xpac but is very nice for a Hammerdin or Sorc in Classic. That was in Norm.
In NM I aquired a Shard, Frosties, more Angelics, and better rares as well as a ton more gold and gambled even better rares.
Now you guys, dont underestimate these normal items.
Angelics Armor is 236 Defense with 3 pcs!!! Not damn bad and like 50% FR also. Ring/ammy/armor gives a nice group of very handy mods, and once I establish in Classic on any relm those 3 items FILL my mules to the point of stupidity but they are simply irreplaceable IMO.
Hsarus Boots/Belt are sick AR (not as good as Angelics) but also give some life and two 20% Resists.
Sigs boot/Belt combo is my fav combo of the set, as that set gives 20FR 40CR 10 LL and 20 life. Glooves/Helm are very nice also but no resists!!! that blows IMO. IMO Hsarus beats Sigs other than if you need LL bad.
I garuntee you that with Hsarus boots and Belt a no dex Barb will kill in Hell, and can get his resists pretty easily with a minimal expense in natural rez.
Now, just a suggestion as we had a good number of deaths over the weekend. i think some of you are just pushing yourself a bit hard wiht no gear to accomidate your aggressiveness. Step back and take a few breaths and relax and just play the game as if rushing is impossible and I am willing to wager your will succeed much better. Dont go to the next area if you lack in certain things.
PLEASE dont set foot in CS without some pretty solid resits. If you are in CS norm at 24 you are simpl just asking to die as first, the exp isnt optimized as Flayer Jungle give better exp until lvl 28 easy, and at about 27+ anywhere else in Act 4 is very good exp. CS runs just arent needed until 32+. Monsterspawns in Act 4 mean a lot for good exp. Urdars, Balrog dudes, Mawfeins in the river, at least 2 sets are the best. Knights, bugs, "spiderlike guys" spirits just dont give the exp as well and are harder to kill, one for minion making and two for fleeing, mana drain and elements that you may not deal with well.
CoD (City of the Damned is probably the most over loked lvlin place in the game both in Classic and Xpac! The Lightning Ball shooters are some SIKC exp number for a 1-2 hit kill, a weak lvl 30 WW Barb can lvl fast here as well as sorcs. Main concern is lightning, but watch for Knights as a pack of them can hurt.
Flayer jungle at all 3 lvls is some nice lvling. Now some builds wont do great here solo in here, but if you pair up, use the tools Blizzard gives you you can do just fine and lvl very well. In Hell, LIs and CIs are half and half in there, and the Barbs and Hammerdins are the major killers but it is still good exp for all.
River runs are very good at all lvls also. Canyone runs, Act 2 are also great, especially for the Skellymancer.

Well, my lf/cs javazon is now lvl 38. The funniest thing is, i'm less than a lvl from cracking the top 100 zons on Asia. She's in A2 NM, after just soloing Andy and Rady. Bird has really hooked me up. Darkglow mail and some other choice items have given me 80-53-80-80 res in nm already (Thanks to Bird and TEB-HolyWife). To say things are easy would be an understatement. The only real trouble lies in just having 430 life and low defence, which usually isn't an issue as i'm chucking javs from far off.
I also have had to make 3 mules already to hold my findings. I have gear for a sorc (including a unique gnarled staff) and some nice barb gear, so I've already started on a mace barb too (he's lvl 11, chugging along but with no games to multi in). I suppose i'm going to run some more norm Trav/Meph/CS in search of angelic's ammy (I found a ring already) and sigons stuff to help gear my guys for that inevitable venture into Hell.
Just letting you all know whats up. I'll be on quite a bit trying to run the ladder and help out my new TEB mates in hell cs runs (Bird informed me today that they're in need of a zon, what luck!).
Hmmm... this post seemed too damn cheerful... Asia has an odd effect on me...perhaps I should spend an hour or so dueling back on EHCL.

Well I just saw this thread this morning while being bored at work. So I hope to see some of you tonight. Take care, i'm out.
Classic lvling leaves a lot to be desired for those that have spent a lot of time in xpac. It is a very slow process early, gets better around 32 and then it tails off again the closer you get to 80 and then at 85+ you will start feeling like you are 92 or so in Baal runs.
The ting is, its is a new challenge. Is it harder? well yes it is because there are so few ways to get items. I xpac you can cube and construct things that are very good and you just cant do that in Classic. In Classic you have to pray Rares roll well and your imbues turn out well. It is very possible to have poor luck and get 3 Imbues with like 0-50% ED and then you are in a world of hurt as almsot nothign in those ED ranges is worth a crap in late NM. At least with xpac you can cube magicals, or build runewords or shop for better stuff. Classic shopping is maxed at 100% ED and you just wont see that stuff until Hell and most likely not until Act 4 and lvl 70+ when you wish you had it at 40!!!
Either way, with good stuff it is not all that insianely tuff but there are areas where it just takes a party to get thru for almsot every build. There are some that can solo anywhere but frankly they are just asking for deeds in the wrong places.
Aquire ya some buds, try and keep up with them, or go back and help them keep up so you arent alone for Hell. Sure, we have a group that can rush anyone, but seriously I dont think there is more fun in this game than questing thru Hell Clasic with 4-8 people, poor gear, slightly questionable resists, and nobody really tearing anything up.
So basically, I just wan tto suggest that if you really want helped/rushed up a bit fine but dont pass on this opprotunity for the best challenge in PvM and get you a few guys all the same or similar lvl and do hell quest for quest. I dont think anyone really came here for a PA and leech fest as we can all do that in East, or West or most anywhere. i could of been in CS at 50 if i wanted but I wanted to do it the hard and exciting way. I didnt come here to live the easy way, I didnt it to get my *** kicked or succeed.
i will personally be making more guys, lvlin them up and questing. Along with my 75 Sorc I have a 28 Necro, 21 Barb and 17 Pally. Each i will not rush (well maybe one for an EXP booster). After that I may rush one or two here or there, and any untimely deaths i will probably replace ASAP.
Either way, it is your fun so do it as you wish. Take your time and enjoy and have fun as that is what it is all about.
Lost my pally to to fire doing meph runs. Was level 23 and could kill meph easisly, but those fireballs where deadly. Leason, I could of made a two socket shield i found pretty fire resistent. I was waiting for more rubies to drop. I should not of waited. Learned my leason and will not wait. Had just found a maneld that had 8 % mana leach.

i tend to stockpile 3 sock shields and I will tell you that my luck as well as most others has been flat out terrible at finding the 3 sock Tower so far. Gothic is the next best and I have only found one of those.
It is dead simple to get a 3 socket Large or a 2 socket Bone in Act 2 by shopping and usually u can find 3 chipped diamonds, or say rubies and topaz and make a helpfull sheild.
I have seen it countless times where the lvl say 24-28 is doing CS runs, maybe even doing an excellent job, but I dont care how good your resists are if you are lvl 24 or so and something happens wrong on one of those seals like someone popin it on you, or a lag spike you can be history in a blink of an eye. Diablo can also show you real fast how well prepared you are!!!
Infector of Souls and his boys will flat out chew up and spit out untwinked low lvl guys, and evne twinked if low enuff. Desies and his boys can also even though frankly they are weaker in 1.10 wiht 8-10 fanta guys that are fast hit you and no BO and like 300-500 life it dont take long to die and i didnt count lag which is all around Asia.
it just pays well to learn and use the areas of the game for your lvl and take the "good" exp over the "optimum" exp while you have poor gear. Later you can push it more but hell if you have to remake all the time loosing all the stuff you aquire you cant get any decent item base so just be patient.

i tend to stockpile 3 sock shields and I will tell you that my luck as well as most others has been flat out terrible at finding the 3 sock Tower so far. Gothic is the next best and I have only found one of those.
It is dead simple to get a 3 socket Large or a 2 socket Bone in Act 2 by shopping and usually u can find 3 chipped diamonds, or say rubies and topaz and make a helpfull sheild.
Hehe, actually I'm using a rare spiked shield with 10% increased blocking, 27 fire res and 19 light res that some, erm, thoughtless (?) guy sold (?!) to ormus. I predict it will go a long way :)
Too bad you can't buy a good 3-sock shield...
Note: from lvl 24 to lvl 25, it took me 11 council runs 1ppl.

Aw chucks!
My poor TEB-Milla was killed in cows at lvl19. I even had the juv gurgle sound playing, but still died. But hey, that's what lag and a hazardouz environment will do to ya!
Luckily some guy dumped a hugh load of nice gear on me and some others just before Millas death. Good thing I muled that Rattlecage and sigons.
Cows do you no good until lvl 20, and I mean absolutely no good. i try to not cow at low lvls, maybe 25+ but if I can run flayer I do that instead, or river.
Avenger is a mighty tuff build in Classic as there are few good 1 hand weapons, and none are very fast and with Vengance relying on damage of weapon its reather tuff. Now you will find a friend in every game that is for sure and things will die well due to you but not much more than that unless you get a good weapon.
Back to cows, if you are in that 500 ping area just steer clear of the steers unless you can take a lot of hits as those guys teleport in Asia and have range 30 Poles!!! Not sure why they gt teleporting cows in Asia but it is challenging!
Small list of solid builds:
Java
Hammerdin
Shocker
Holy Freeze (need friends but he will find many)
FoH (not a big hell Killer but will have friends and can smoke PKers)
Hammers with strange arura!!! holy Freeze, Defiance..etc solo hammers will kill wiht no arura and kill well in NM if you put stats in properly so these builds do work, and beleive me there are hammerdins everywhere you will find Conc from one of them.
Necro Skelles/Bone really must have bone since you dont have a merc
Necro Boney/confuse fun build and lots of safety with Armor, but tuff to start
Barb Conc, Zerk, WW CB is of course needed and some luck with imbues or finding a weapon.
Singer/BO Merc Not easy to find two shards but it can be done
Sorcs of all ilks
I will give ya a little info on my 75 Blizz sorcy. I am working on a teleport monster to tele CS center and have "some damage of note" for 8 player, and enuff damage to solo Hell Meph. So far I am impressed so here it is.

3 in Glacial
3 in Blast so 6 total Synergies
Damage is just under 1k like 950
Sitting on 6 skill points, and havent done Izzy.........not sure what to do with rest as I am contemplating many avenues but i will let you know.
I kill in 5-6 player and kill well with Convic!!! I can solo Meph Hell with 2-3 players pretty easy, remember static is like 1.09 4 player there.

After passing 5 tower shields that were 1 and 2 sockets, I managed to find 3 socket tower shield. However, its not the shield I plan on using. I want me a gothic. Oh yeah, thanks to Relativity for getting me into nightmare.

I would like to take part in this :)... i have an account and ****.. ive been playing d2 for a while.. i played before expansion was out too.. had a 84 sorc (noobed out :D).. i play at a net cafe right now.. but im about to buy diablo again (computer broke down, agve it to a friend, and moved lol..).. ill be getting it next week.. and im ready to start.. i think im gonna make a bowazon only becuase i enjoy sitting back and shooting form FAR SAFE distances ;D... if anyone could give me tips on a good build for a bowazon OR good javazon, i would gladly take them into consideration.. thanks.. my us-west acc is Blindshadow and my asia account should be Blindshadow too.. aim sn is dontsh0otimwh1te.. anyone with help im me plz

Unfortunately in Classic the Bowazon was raather nerfed already in 1.09 and in 1.10 it is worse as a good damage bow is just hard to get and even a 200% Gothic leaves some to be desiered in 1.10.
Now a Mageazon will work but needs a lot of pot drinking and mana items
I suggest the java as he skills are just better suited and since you can use a shiled it is much better for living as you can get resists easier and of course some block. Maybe try a bowa after you find a bow.
Well ive started my char (Violent Knight). He WAS going to be a covic+zeal variant with an elemental weapon but see... i wasnt aware of everything in classic(stoopid me thought there was runewords) :drool: Anyway maybe someone can make a post on their spare time of what is different in classic?
So far ive learned that there are only normal uniques/sets, no runes/runewords/rares are needed for upper lvl play(mele at least), no socketed armour(unless you have a soj)... everything else i forgot. Anyway its proving to be fun and the ppl are more party oriented when you get a game going. I still havent decided how im gunna build i just want something unique... well see.

I have seen it countless times where the lvl say 24-28 is doing CS runs, maybe even doing an excellent job, but I dont care how good your resists are if you are lvl 24 or so and something happens wrong on (...) and like 300-500 life it dont take long to die and i didnt count lag which is all around Asia.

Should have had like 800 life, unluckily quite impossible.
And BTW, how much damage gets reflected to you due to being iron maidened in normal difficulty in classic ?

Sorry geralt, my fault on death. shoudn't have talked you into it...
Anyways, guys, after being in a nm cow game, I don't think I can actually quest at the moment. Watching my exp bar shoot up was great, and so far I've onlybrought myself to do 1 quest. Not to mention that until I find or trade for a gothic shield/and or a mahimoak, my resists are in the gutter.

So..uh, are the cast speed on chain lightning determined by FCR or ias in classic?
I would assume it is FCr related with CL but you probably should test it.
IM is a quick death at any lvl of difficulty. If you look up the skill itslef under Necros then at a very low lvl you will get around 200% return and it just goes up. I have no idea nor do I know how to find out what lvl of IM they have but I do know that when I play a Barb I lvl to 30+ in the river and dont go In CS until I get 1 point Zerk.
I would also like to thank the people I've played with. The feeling is comparable to the first days of 1.10 :) Party-play and some nice chatting.
Just got my char - orb/fireball sorc - to act4 at lvl23. Time for some flayerjungle runs.

Hell yeah, I'll be over there tomorrow morning. No more of this crap expansion on USWest hardcore ladder.
Finally, something that sounds fun.
I can only play mornings, from 8:00 - 3:00 PST, however.
Are we going to try to boost a char up to the top of the ladder together (i.e. have one barb or something that everyone levels)? Or is it just like a group effort where we just help each other out?

Bird is already 88 pushing 89, top guy is 91 i think......If you just get thru the game, get your resists and get in CS and live you can hit 85 reasonably. 87 takes longer, 88 longer and then after that it takes dedication to lvl. Bird will be there all the way and as long as he has BO he will lead the pack.
He solos CS a lot also, him and holy (Barb) run CS together a lot.
