View Full Version : Team Deviant Week VIII
An intrepid foursome (Test, Jeremy, Prophet and I) met again last night to continue our quest. After we ran Baal a few times too gain some levels and, falsely, hope for some better gear before we moved into nightmare. There was a slight delay as a friend used our game to mule some items. This provided a great opportunity to mill about town and insult each others characters.
Onto nightmare we finished the Den easily and quickly. Killed Blood Raven and cleaned out the Mausoleum and Crypt. Getting the scroll and rescuing Cain finished the evening. A few close calls (mine as usual) in the underground passage when we split up (moral never leave your barb's side) and when I started teleporting while meleeing to pick off bosses guerilla style only realizing too late that Bishbosh (iirc) was fire immune so I was hacking away to little effect while he toasted my merc and nearly my sorc as well (good practise at teleporting with 95% of your life gone).
I have reverted to meleeing thanks to my pledge shield which has nightmare resists almost all maxed. I am one level away from adding orb to my arsenal to deal with FI's.
Sadly it was the last game for Test our Throwsmiter whose courage, humour and auras will be greatly missed. Test is heading off for 3 or 4 months of work in the Honduras. All of the rest of Team Dev wishes him the best, of course.
We were missing Kit (who has promised to return next week - Level 42 please) and Pintail our necro. I am holding a swell rare circlet I (unfortunately for me) gambled for our necro (+1 to necro skills and bunch of other mods). So Undead let us know if your going to make next week as space in my chest is at a premium.
Being down to 3-5 members will make nightmare a challenge and hell nearly a suicide mission. So once again if anyone wishes to join the foray in its untwinked deviant glory please post here (Tuesdays 9-11 EST, east ladder). We have now it appears lost both our pally's and a nice aura or two would be a real boon.
Looking forward to next week as always......

*sigh*
The end of last night left a bitter taste in my mouth, as I and viamede here picked over the accumulated treasures that DEV-AreYouSad, our beloved Throwsmiter, dropped before he left our group forever. It felt like a funeral of the worst kind. I hope you have a grand time in Honduras, friend. You will be missed.
It is only appropriate that DEV-AreYouSad recieve this week's quote of the week, and it comes mainly in exchange form, and without the fanfare in honor of the somber mood I'm in.
[Posted above respective heads] DEV-AreYouSad: I look awesome
DEV-MissYuk (me): Yeah, but I have tits.
DEV-Enchilada (viamede): Small ones.
DEV-AreYouSad: (moving closer to me)(brandishing Trident) Shtu up or I'll stab you con my Trident.
DEV-MissYuk, realizing way too late that our Throwsmiter was holding a Trident: Wait. WTF are you doing with a Trident.
DEV-AreYouSad: I picked it up
DEV-MissYuk: Oh
DEV-AreYouSad: You're just jealous of my awesomosity.
And indeed I was, I suppose. As the night progressed DEV-AreYouSad grew progressively more silent, and kept running off alone and losing half his health. I thought for sure he was going to commit suicide at the inanity of it all, especially when we were in the Mausoleum and he was in red life in the Stony Field and told me he didn't want a TP, but he stuck it out until the very end. A part of you will remain with us, Test. I hope that last forray into Nightmare offered you some sort of satisfaction.
God I'm a sap.
Anyway, we have a question or two facing our team here. We are down to three somewhat regulars (*cough* Lostprophet needs to show up more *cough*), with PoisonTouch having gone (I think he said two weeks, but who knows?), and Kit being continually weighed down by work (I feel for ya, bro). I have no idea what happened to the other guy, think his acct name was catkiller20 or some such nonsense, the one who was playing the Tesladin. So we're down to five in the group total. The question is, should we continue to play out these characters? We're obviously going to need to recruit more peeps at some point in the future, but is that point now? The way I see it, we have three options.
1. Keep playing as it is now, with whoever can make it each week. We could adjust our times or add more days, to speed up the process (it'll be easier to coordinate with less people anyway).
2. Recruit new people and help them up to our levels and play through the rest of the game. We'd need 3-4 regular people, and we could arrange time as needed.
3. Scrap the current project and build anew. I have so many ideas for insane Deviant builds floating around in the my head, it's crazy.
I guess a fourth option is to disband the group, but man that would suck. This has been so much fun. I'm leaning toward the first option, with more playing or a playing shift to allow more current players to play more often, but I'm certainly open to other people's opinions.
Imma go before I type my wrists off.
Peace.

Well Guys, All I can say is that playing with team DEV was one of the best times Ive had playing D2X. I will be back, maybe for DEV2.0 maybe later, but my love of mutant builds far surpasses time. Thank you all. Call me Frosty, because Ill be back someday.
¿Extravagante, usted lo habla?
DEV por siempre.

Be cool Test. If you have time fill us in a bit more on the work your going to do in the Honduras (even if it is OT, I'd be interested).
Prophet: I have suggested that anyone interested in saddling up with us to please express an interest. We have had some nibbles but we could be more explicit such as a TEAM DEV WANTS YOU!!!! title etc. I would like to see us add one or two players with some party friendly skills (we could sure use Kit-Oak, Undead-curses and a new pally with an aura or two). If Kit can rejoin and if Undead Returns (I think that was a movie, no?) then we can certainly manage. But heck I'm willing to carry forth regardless. We will just need to go slower and stick together. We should be able to take down pretty much everything in the game (in time) with fire/cold/poison and Jeremy stunning with cries and dishing out some physical.
I think we need to hear from Kit and Undead and then decide what/who we need to recruit. If we can't add to the group the I'm for going ahead. If we die we die. I'd really rather die than ever quit.... given this isn't real life, in real life I'll quit thanks anyway :) .
If another time works or we want to set up some more ad hoc times if it's just us three then I'm generally up for it (Wed night is usually good). Jeremy seems to be on a bit (me too, cough cough..though getting flack a bit over D2 addiction etc....). Anyhoo I'm fine with 1 or 2. I don't see the point in option other than not having to have to catch people up but then if we start over we may be at the same point in another 8 weeks as summer comes so I think we need to push this thing through.
Keep positive...all will unfold as it should....

Since I haven't been getting much action with the PURE crew, I was thinking of enlisting my untwinked Smitadin to help you guys out once you reach act 2. His main aura is fanat, and he makes pretty decent crowd control with all the stun and knockback. :)

Woot! I usually play on one of two accounts, *Axle_Gear or *Crash_Gear. My character is on the second, and is name La_Chupacabra (I have a thing for giving my paladins Hispanic names >> ).
I would expect your Chupa is only a few levels ahead of us. IMHO you can join us whenever you want next Tuesday if you don't mind re-running parts of Act 1 otherwise we can whisper you when we are ready to start act 2, not sure how long that will take. Up to you.
Looking forward to your Fanat aura speeding up the killing! As you may have read we play untwinked, share drops (generally) and have fun (always).
As an aside.....as for mercs. I will keep my defiance. We should also add one might and one HF from A2 (and then puhleeze keep em till the end). The fourth can be whatever any one wants. I am not currently using the ravenclaw so if someone wants to throw it on a rogue scout they can, it kicks out pretty good damage when enchanted.
