View Full Version : COH, whats optimal?
So my friend finaly found an OHM rune, and with his previously found IST and MAL, he is thinking of making an COH runewrod.
Question is, what char and weapon would be optimal for it? The stupid think is all the chars that he plays and like to play are generally low on str and dex. Such as trapazin, javazon, sorc, necro, hammerdin.
assuming he does decide to make a melee char what would be best? My suggestion was a coh phaseblade zealadin. OR a phatty whatever weapon for a shapeshifter.
but if he DONT want to go melee, and just want to use the +bo to give his current char more life, is there a semi usefull weapon? or should he just put the darn thing into a 5 soc flail or sumthing?

CoH=chains of honor. u must have read the wrong runeword. so i'm assuming u meant CtA (call to arms, the bo weap)
there isnt really any use for it other than the bo, as the damage on it is low compared to other top uniques. so put it on the lowest req weap you can get, i think it's either crystal sword or flail.
as to what char to use it for, casters undoubtly have the best use for them. personally, i would put it on a sorc, since sorcs have the lowest life/poorest mana base of all casters. with CtA you can setup up your stats/skills to account for the double life/mana you get.

I'm pretty sure you are talking about CTA, call to arms, not COH chains of honor (?). I'd say using cta as a melee weapon isn't very usefull, rather just make one in flail and use it in switch. That way it still is valuable in trade and you can later use another character. I once saw somebody offer colossus blade cta in trade thought 8D. CTA should allways have a shield with +1 all skills with it when you bo, +all skills give more bo (not +class spesific, but +all). So Hoz won't give more bo for paladin, but sigon/lidless will. Anni, jordans, shako, viper, maras, whatever with+ all skills helps... lvl 10 bo lasts around 2 minutes so you have to remember to refresh it.

hmm....well i really see only two, maybe 3 options here
id put it on a sorc or hammerdin.....unless of course they are alrdy decked out in uber equipment then it probably isnt needed, its just to be safe....like in my case, my sorc has 1400 life as is plus 35% dr and max resists, so i feel a cta would be a waste on her....all it would do it make it even that much safer
personally id put it on my necro as it would be leet to give all my minions that much more life, for those really tough bosses he comes across, but thats just me
so i guess its an opinion type question and depends on your chars.....but most definetly use it on a sorc or hammerdin as a first option, if u dont have one...then put it on ur best char
and ya, make it in a crystal sword...it looks cooler then a flail IMO
edit: hmm, this is just a side thought.....would warcry charms up the bo lvl from cta even if it were equipped by a sorc???? and would using two cta's on a barb be better then echoers or no???....like i said, just thoughts...i dont mean to highjack
yes, i meant cta. Thx for advice ppl, the fact that +skills adds to bo makes the decission easy. it will go into a crystal sword due to the high cool factor.

No, and No. Warcry charms are only usable by Barbs, and CTA's are capped at +3 to BO for barbarian usage......
actually 2x cta's would be better than echos, if you had both +3 bo cta's. Reason being is you would get +4 BO I believe because of the +3 to battle orders on the sword, and +1 to all skills on each sword.

Call to Arms
+2 To All Skills
+40% Increased Attack Speed
+200-240% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Adds 5-30 Fire Damage
7% Life Stolen Per Hit
+1-6 To Battle Command
+1-3 To Battle Orders
+1-2 To Battle Cry
Prevent Monster Heal
Replenish Life +12
30% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
That's a possibly of +5 BO assuming perfect roll on BO, pretty nice if you can afford 2 perfect ones for a barb to use. I'd still go CtA and Sigons shield on any other char though.

Huh... Cta is +1 all skills not 2, and the orders can be 1-6, not 1-3
There u go
+1 To All Skills
+40% Increased Attack Speed
+250-290% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Adds 5-30 Fire Damage
7% Life Stolen Per Hit
+2-6 To Battle Command (varies)*
+1-6 To Battle Orders (varies)*
+1-4 To Battle Cry (varies)*
Prevent Monster Heal
Replenish Life +12
30% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
Barb can only benefit from one cta, go look up the sticky thread in barb forum. You can get 4+3 = 7 from two weapons max, one cta and one echoing, two cta's can't give your barb even 7, no matter how good they are.
Winona, give me the Ohm, Ist, and Mal, and I'll come BO you with lvl 34 BO whenever you message me... I'll even throw in free level 35 enchant too! :D
they are not mine to give :p
Though i have an ist of my own
