Just wondering, if besides the obvious advantages of MF and Lightning Absorbtion, if anyone finds any of the Druid Skills (Oak, Wolverine and Barbs) found on this ring to be an advantage at such low levels (2,5, and 7) in Hell?
.......Hmmm, I worded this really poorly, butwhat I'm trying to say is that the Wisps die alot

Depends on the character and what you're doing.
For example in baals a sorc standing back casting orb/meteor/blizz/whateverelse with an oak out helps keep the baba and hammerdins alive without the wisp dying.
A sorc teleporting through gloams to the throne is destined to lose the wisp.
And obviously the hammerdin standing in the middle of the crowd isn't going to keep it alive ^_^

While they don't par up to their natural druid counterparts, I've seen necros using the HoW one, and HoTO sorcs using Oak, but that Oak is from their HoTO. Any little bit helps right?

What about battle orders to keep the oak wisp alive?

I have a BO barb on a 2nd cdkey, and lvl 34 BO would be bound to keep the wisp alive a lot more (and its +life would stack with the BO for even more life). I guess thats like adding 5hp to a 250hp engine though.

I'll say this bluntly. My shapeshift druid has a level 22 oak sage and in hell eg. flayer jungle it dies from a small pack of monsters in 4-5 seconds, even though it has around 500 life. Now think about a level 2-7 oak sage and you will get the idea that it will be dead as soon as it is cast. Nice idea Blizzard but you screwed up again.

Nice idea Blizzard but you screwed up again.

I dont think their intention was for these items to be used by everyone always as the best possible way to get bonus life from a ring.

Like most good item ideas, use of this item is a trade-off. Nice bonus life, but you have to keep it alive. Also, certain characters can keep it alive more easily than others. For example, a zoomancer should have no problem keeping spirits alive with 40-60-odd extra targets for all the monsters to choose from.

Oak sage items are not free life. They werent intended to be.

i saw that it was mentioned above.

for a party it is of use when the whispring user remains in the last line of attack. beside that it is of use to chars that normaly attack from distance too. its true that they dont get hit often because of the ranged attacks but
death happens to any build sometimes so a lifeboost of 30% or whatever the amount is is a nice gift.

i noticed something different on my mf sorc. there i have my merc and an oak sage from hoto. from my experience i get less hits while teleporting into monsterpacks. ( yes my fcr is high enough but its natural that u get hit anyway). the annoying groups (especially mana burner) target my oak sage before me often so that i can move on with full mana and a bit calmness :)
