View Full Version : Should/will there be a new ladder season soon?

here is my thread idea: Instead of my usual gripe about how come we need a new ladder season, i thought i would put an interesting twist on things.

Who thinks there SHOULDNT be a new season soon, and why they think so, other than "I dont have every godly item and BOTD and HOTO and all the godlies yet and you cant reset till i have them all!!!!!!!!!!111111"

Because right now i cant think of any justifiable reason why not to reset. Its not like we are 'racing to level 99' anymore as there are 6 or 7 level 99's on USWest HC now (didnt check other realms).

Maybe blizzard is working hard on fixing the tppk, duping, and townkill exploits and will not restart till they are all fixed!! (yeah right). Or maybe no one from blizzard really pays attention to Diablo 2 anymore and they are alll playing WC3 and WOW, and we will never get a reset cause they dont give a ****.

I would like to hear anyone else's opinions (should there be a reset now?) and ideas (why has there not been a reset?)

This question has been asked again and again. The answer is none of us know for sure what blizz is hiding.

exactly, you cant. anyones reason is their personal opinion and not always justifiable by everyone else :P

i personally welcome the reset, though i did just get a tals ammy and did just re-start my IK barb which that ammy will equip for me...so theres a reason to not reset lol

I have just tried out the PvM builds I want to try, participated in untwinked games (KTA), and started to duell/hunt at low lvl. Now I plan to try my luck with a mid-lvl since I have assembled the gear for it and got a good build planned.

So no thx, don't reset. I want to have fun with my hard-earned items for longer time. Reseting now would simply put me off...

/Magnus

edit: I don't play very much (5-10 hours/week), and don't have that great gear either. But I have good builds for my gear

Still are so many items I have not seen yet, or are somewhat out of my league for trading. Shako, Skulder, Mara, SS, the new elite 1.10's et.c.

Best item I have must be Reapers Toll, Bonehew, Whiz, SoJ (just found) Alma Negra, Crescent Moon Phaseblade, Gaze.

It would be very cool if blizzard

just made the reset automatic when a certian event is reached like maybe the first level 99 hardcore char overall or the first time there is a level 99 in all the classes.

Here is what I'm really wondering though:

WTF is going to happen to the ladder chars we are using now when the reset happens?

Do they just go away? Do they become expired chars? do they lose their godly ladder-only items and move into non-ladder? keep everything and move to non ladder realms? Do they move into the counryside and plant rows and rows of asparagus trees? DO they go into construction with crews of illegal Carver carpenters working for less than minimum wage? Go into politics....

the buzz pre 1.10 said that the ladder chars will be converted into normal HC chars. Dunnu about the ladder only items though.

I was happy with 1.09 and I didnt want any reset/patch!
But when the patch came up, I liked it though it made absolute useless all chars I had (pvp barbs, necs, amas etc)
And now when I'm just starting LOD lld, plz no reset before I build that lvl 9 dueller!

Reset itself, I guess its inevitable otherwise why bother with ladder chars, etc. It doesnt require much woek, but will attract many
But as to exact time, you know blizz, patch took them 2 years...

well if you think about it, they really should reset the ladder either a little before summer or at the begining of summer because many would have summer vacation.

Heres what they should do.

Reset ladder for those who want ladder play and untwenked play.

Make ladder items and gear and diffulculty part of the non-ladder game, allowing those who could care less about the ladder to still enjoy the full game.

I say there won't be a reset. 50% of the players know that with a ladder reset they must start anew. The other 50% is what Blizzard fears. These are the uneducated idiots playing the game that would treat a reset like a mass ban and scream "OMFG MY ITEMS! I AM NOT 1337 ANYMORE!"

Remember when they used to do mass bans for use of bots and such? Blizz would see a total uproar from the botting community immediately following that.

Why they will not reset the ladder season is simple... A reset will get the same attention. Besides that, they gave us our patch. Even made a new realm called Ladder Realm! There will be no reset, get used to dupes and bugs, and that's the way it is.

God knows I want a reset, because that will make for a more fair community. Right now it's all crap and you can find me only trading in one place, and it ain't the trade channels.

The longer they wait for reset the more people leave.

Faster resets would keep people longer and put a competition in it.

Once there is on reset then ladder items are on normal relm, those that didnt want a reset can play non-ladder most of the time if they wissh and play some ladder also, it keeps all in the game.

Personally I like the thoought of a 3-4 Month ladder season. It isnt really time to hit 99 and i personally dont think there is any reason it must be 99. Classic has always had a strong ladder racing group and it is near impossible to hit 99 there without illegit means or absolutely no life. I see being 97 and 4 mill ahead of the next guy at the end of the race just as good if not better than hitting 99 after say 50% of the top 20 sold thier accts, 10-20% stopped playing al together...etc. I mean there are a BIG bulk of the top 100 that sold off, quit playing duled until dead or whatever, so what kind of race is that?

3 Months is plenty of time to compete on the ladder, or just plain ole MF the ladder to make ladder only things like upgrades and things like that and let the reset move them to normal play for you while also during that time you can go play normal play. There is still a decent amount of people pleaying non-ladder and would probably be a lot more if the season was a short 3 months.

Personally i see a good balance that can keep people that are competitive interested with many resets, keeps at least one relm "cleaner" of dupes since they get "flushed" to the normal relm. Maybe most of the dupe dependent players would even leave the ladder relm since getting those would be more difficult.

3 months........thus is my bid

Oh BTW, the reset is about 3 months too late!

Stinger, we were lied to by Blizzard. They don't care about us non-paying die-hard fans playing their long-awaited patch that promised "more challenging play".

WoW = $9.95 per month to play. GFraizer = working on something else Blizzard = Reset when hell freezes over.

Remember that stupid picture they came up with at the beginning of the season? The "Hell Froze Over, 1.10 is Released"? I think hell has to get to about 0 degrees Kelvin before they'll reset.

I think hell has to get to about 0 degrees Kelvin before they'll reset.

For those of you who don't know, that's pretty damn cold. I think at this temperature nothing would exist :cheesy:

Should: Yes
Will: No

They should not reset because... Hmm. Well. I only really care if they would finally take care of the last (hihi) bugs and exploits. Reset or not.

OT For the interested:

Third law of Thermo Dynamics:

Absolute zero temperature can not be achieved in a finite cycle of processes. With each step change in temperature in an infinite cycle of processess assymptotically closing in on the absolute zero, the corresponding change in entropy is assymptotically closing in on zero.

(Just saw today that I passed quantum physics with second best grade! Yey me :winner: )

OT-Doesn't all matter conform to the same Sine Wave as temperatures approach absolute 0, effectively creating a coherent laser-like beam of matter? At absoulte 0, matter (energy) flatlines.

EDIT- As for the ladder, I would love a reset- but I can play legit-style perfectly fine on my own. There is no sweat off myy back if others use dupes.
