View Full Version : Where to get crushing blow and deadly strike?

My melee pally (Fanatic Zealot) just hit level 66 and I am thinking about starting Hell difficulty at around level 70. Right now I only have CB and DS from Gore Riders. Where else does everyone get their CB and DS? Gear right now is:

Gaze
Lionheart Kraken Shell
HoZ
Rare ammy - +2 Off. Auras, LL, +dex, +18 all res
LoH
SoE
RavenFrost
Rare ring - LL, Res, +life
Gore Riders
Atlantean - Planned to use Horizon's Tornado.

This set up only gives me 15% CB & DS. Everyone has recommended 50%. How do I make up the difference? Thanks in advance.

Well, it's hard to fit much more on there.

If you REALLY want deadly, an upgraded striker (lil slow imo). Outside of that crushing is pretty hard to get without altering your set up alot.

Guilliames face and guardian angel are two that come to mind for CB, but then your current set up in those areas is quite nice.

Well, it's hard to fit much more on there.

If you REALLY want deadly, an upgraded striker (lil slow imo). Outside of that crushing is pretty hard to get without altering your set up alot.

The obvious choice would be to replace gaze with Guillames Face, granting 35% cb and 15 ds. Other than that, you can get crushing form weapon, for instance stormlash, it is an expensive item however.

Since when does Guardian Angel have Crushing Blow? Aint that +X to max res, 20% extra block 30% faster block and +1 pally skills?

Is the extra CB and DS worth the LL, ML and PDR from Gaze? Stormlash also has a level requirement of 81. What to do until then?

Is the extra CB worth more than the 350% damage to Demons from LoH? My biggest question is do I really need to get to 50% CB and DS? Is it worth the trade offs?

I think for the most part the weapon is your only easy changed area for inprovement in CB/DS but as said if you swap some other stuff around you can do more.

Boots wise you could go GToes and use some R/W charms or Vigor to make up for the speed.

Personally I have always felt PDR was rather over rated as for one I seldom if ever use it and do very well. Also a Pally wiht HoZ and Good D armor is rather tuff to hit anyway. Lionheart offers a lot of stats, but I just dont like it in 1.10 as there are just more advantages to a Pally by having a higher D armor liek the mentions GA, or Smoke, or more expensive Stone, or maybe an upped Shaft if you really want PDR and then this can open up your Helm for Gulleiums maybe? I know you loose leech but maybe it wont be missed as much with the much great killing power.

Boil it all back down to your current gear and you are pretty much stuck baring finding a high end rune for CB which I forget it is.......and then it would be wastefull with the words it could make.

highlords for ur ammy, for some nice DS

i think a nice pair of crafted gloves can have a max of 10% CB..maybe start crafting or trade

and u can always drop a BER rune into your weapon for some nice CB....WOOT...ya right

Ahem....well...I was dreaming about my pally and he had CB on like everything....even though he has none of this stuff...but he waaaannnttts this stuff..and....well...ok I goofed...(reminds self not to post off the cuff)..

I think the easiest thing to switch out is guillames face, as was mentioned. Maybe you could also try out crescent moon? The SF is sort of like area of effect crushing. Highlords for an ammy is also nice (also mentioned already). They go pretty cheap IMO, for how good they are. No one plays melee heh.

Remember the LoH 350% only helps on Demons and yes it is hughe but if you can craft a very good pair of glooves i would gladly swap. CB is just so powerfull since everything has so much more life.

Is 50/50 required? No, I think not but it would be nice!!!

i think any melee build that can find away to use Gores or Gtoes and Gulleiums is just that much better of a killer, and if you can get in the 35% area on CB you should do fine. Maybe a Highlords if you have it can do the trick. Your ammy is nice but if you can find a way to swap it then i would, i mean +1 all is just about as good as +2 Off and the DS and AR will glady overcome the other +1 OFF but can you make up the Priz part? There is where maybe a Smoke can make all the difference with it also being 50% Priz, and 75% more Defense than your Lionheart!?!?!

Just kickin things around.......

i havent made a Lionheart yet and wont in 1.10 but of course that is simply just my opinion. Personally 30% ED , those stats with the penalty of low Defense just isnt worth it when that higher Defense, and 20 more Priz of the Smoke can let you add CB/Deadly in other areas.

i know that so many people here are big Lionheart fans but when a Pallys HS influences all defense it wure would be nice to take full advantage of that! What would be the difference in say a 900 D Smoke and a say 500 Lionheart in regards to first holy shield and then second whatever lvl 27-45+ shout you might get? if you are soloing a lot then of course neglect the Shout.

Definitely swap out the Gaze for Guillaume's... throw a Ruby in there if you really miss the %DR from Gaze. You already have enough LL, and ML is unnecessary on a Zealot. I wouldn't swap out the LoH unless you crafted a really nice pair of Blood Gloves (I lucked out and got some with 20%ias and 6%LL). Your only other option really is Highlord's ammy, but then you'd be sacrificing a bunch of LL and resists.
