doh, sorry i missed you guys last night, ended up working on a talk i'm giving tonight (wednesday) and not getting home til late. I'll almost definitely be on around 9:30 pm eastern for some norm a3 (8:30 central :P ) if you guys will be around

I havent been around much lately.

Being Unholy VI is a big responsability as there are always many unholy things to do on all of the various realms. So I've been mostly mfing on europe, the Asia LoD realms and east in preparation for the next Unholy war against those who dwell in the sewers of Lut Golein or seek the profane wisdom contained in the Arcane sanctuary.

But Hanging out in HC classic on asia is fun so I'm sure I'll be around from time to time!

The problem is the only char I want to play is a barb but there useless in the CS as I knew and learned to stay away the hard way :rant:

Barbs are pointless
I dont wana play a zon
pallys are awesome but hammerdins are boring IMO and zeal will suck just as much as WW in CS
sorcys have to low health but I guess I'll try one...
necros are boring

Man. People gotta know something up front.

It's going to be VERY tough going in Classic for you. VERY tough.

You are probobly going to die. You might even die a few times. When I went over there I lost 3 chars in 2 days. Usually I might lose 1 in a week if I'm playing a whole lot on LoD.

the thing to remember is this:

It isn't really classic.

what it is pretty much is LoD 1.10 without the gravy quests and exp of act 5 and without charms and without runes and without elite items and the LoD only sets/uniques.

the biggest thing you will miss if you are used to highish level play in LoD is the + skills items.

you arent going to have level 42 blessed hammers or frozen orbs. The monsters you'll face will still be as tough. You won't though! yes there are a coupel of bright spots. You can have really nice block witout spending a single point into dex. WW doesnt depend on weapon speed for barbs, static can bring any monster in the game down to 1 point.

those are worthwhile for sure. but consider this. If your sorc has 60% block with no dex invested but isnt carrying an armload of charms that have + life + skills ect... I would be very shocked if after yuo spent all those extra points in energy and vit you STILL didnt have less life/mana than the sorc using the charms and the godly rare/set/runed items that are pretty common in LoD.

So when you come over to do the challenge you WILL be challenged. you MIGHT have to change the way you play to survive and do well. Just be warned before hand.

no one said it was gonna be easy. PLEASE don't sit there and start whining and carrying on and blaming other players if you die there. It's frustrating sure...but show a little toughness. dust yourself off and remake or just admit to yourself that you have more fun in the faster paced LoD game and leave it behind.

no shame in that. for some people who are bored of Lod becuase they are too good at it, this will probobly intrigue you. for some of the rest of us, it might be more frustrating than it's worth.

If your having difficulties a Freezealot is a forgiving hardcore character IMHO (hmmm have I mentioned this before...too often I think...). Holy Freeze really slows the game down and allows for mistakes a plenty (I know cause I make em all the time). IM may be avoided buy whapping stuff with a piercing or elemental damage wand as it delivers or boosts the cold damage your delivering. As long as you avoid getting surrounded and cornered you should survive pretty well.

Those Oblivs wonder out of CS all the time so you need to be carefull there towards the top of the river. Sorry for the loss but I bet this dont happen to you again!

haha, so i ran into an amusing problem last night... forgot that minions don't transfer from one act to the next, so when i went back to a3 with my pack of blood moor skellies, they all disappeared. I figure, ok, i can deal with this... run out into spider forest looking for some little blow dart thingies or something similar, toss out a lvl 1 clay golum, start whacking at them with my bought sword.... nothing. My golum and I couldn't kill a single monster. Needless to say, now I have a point in bone spear. But I don't really see how this will help in another act or two when the monsters are bigger and badder. Guess I'll just only play with a party until skellies are maxed and i can start working on bone spear....

Lvl 1-3 or so Spear will get you a skelly in Norm pretty easy but it may cost a pot or two.

Personally Clay Golem sucks for Classic as you jsut cant get enuff +skills to boost him requiring a rather large investment to make him usefull. My Necros in Classic use FG as it has the best survivability of all golems with 1 point investments and 1-4 +skills which is about all you can plan to have. He lives very well In CS and Act 4 with all the fire breathers and elementalist.

IG could work also but you just cant get a big hitter weapon and they die so much quicker now.

My Skelly guys are Max Skellies, Mastery, Spear or Spirit and Wall and left over in Prison, Use Decrep to get things under control then Amp for better killing and a lot of LR for PIs after getting some corpse to enhance the fire damage of CE.

All curses are 1 point inestments, CE I think I end up with about 5 but i go a long time before I add there.

I know there are a few Necros being made that cant get corpses solo very well and that is just a major issue that will handcuff you to party play only in Hell if you dont have a bones skill, or maybe use Confuse to make things kil each other to get some corpses.

Ive run into a problem. Some where i decided that I needed to update all my drivers. One was a modem driver. Ever since if sombody joins my game i lag out. Does not make sense, ping is about 300 to 400, and i was fine before. Went to west and it did not happen.

Other than modem issues it has been fun even dying. Le's seem deadlier in classic than lod, but could just be related to the lack of gear.

Haven't had much time to level my zon. Ran for a wee bit with a few here last night. As I level through A3 to A4 I have a question about the Forge. I would presume it will drop gems and the odd item in Classic. My question, dumb as it seems, is whether the gem drops are affected by whatever gems are in your stash like a gem shrine is? Obviously I am looking for diamonds for my three socketed tower shield and would like to influence this if at all possible. Thanks.

So...My little CL sorc died at lvl18. I guess it was bad trying to get the cube all alone in a 5 player game in classic Asia. Ah nevermind, I never ever did manage to keep a CL sorc alive. And that's the only sorc I'll ever give a try.

So this means it's bye bye Asia challenge and D2 all togheter (except for that lvl12 pk assa whenever my friend takes the time to PA me). It was a good shot though! Lotsa luv like someone stated :lol:

Forge wont upgrade your gems, and it is no different in xpac than in Classic other than you get no Rune! There will be no "odd item" only gems and one will be perfect. The gems and quality/type will be random and if you have issues with gettting gems feel free to holler at me on TEB14 as I have some stowed away and they also drop a ton in CS runs.

Norm Council runs can be rather productive in many ways, gold, gems, items, exp.....they arent exactly safe for some builds with limited resists but doable. If you have a ranged build try and take them from the left side of thier building, trapping them on thier porch or inside and keep a wall between you and them.

if you have a poor build for this try and team up with someone. Things that Council Norm can provide are like Angelics, sigs, Hsarus, Maelstrom and there is more but I know of no "current" list of Classic drops from anything.

When I hit Asia I made my Blizz Sorc, got to Council and I stayed thier until I stopped gaining reasonble exp and got a ton of stuff including everything on that list above.

Definition of Reasonable in Classic in regards to EXP rates:

If the barb noticably moves in 1-3 runs then it is reasonable as soon there will be a time where you wish it looked like it moved in 5 runs!!!

I also repeated the same process in Nm and i hit lvl 56 easy doing that run, and finished off my current gear with a Shard, better rares, more angelics, WoE which I will only use in cows or Norm...etc.

Basically in regards to Gems and 3 socket shields, I and others will be happy to look for and attempt to collect for you if you just let us know you need them. If you get specific like Sup Tower or Sup Goth be ready to wait!

Meanwhile slap some flawed diamonds in a "store bought" Act Norm Large or Kite and it will keep you alive thru Norm most likely.

Soloing in Classic in multiplayer can be very hazordous, but it can also be very easy if you do things right. Now in Beta i ran a Necro solo on 8 player started lvl 1 and finished Act 1 at lvl 22 and never even noticed how high a lvl I was. In large games running sewers at 20 isnt all that bad of exp. The whole key here is dont be greedy or in a rush and you will survive to be powerfull and then move along faster. Some builds can push, some cant afford to.

Got a chance to exp and quest with your sorc. Very fun running around arcane with my holy fire and your level 1 glacial spike.

Once that feezadin joined us we were quite the wrecking crew. :clap:

Lvl 1 Glacial is just so sickly usfull from Act 1 Norm to Act 4 Hell or even 5 in Xpac. Frankly that skill alone is why i go Blizz as really blizz can be a bit aggrevating at times but Glacial is just so nice to have and even better when a higher lvl.

Thanks for all the useful tips Stinger. IIRC (at work ATM) I shopped just a normal 3 socketed tower. Currently using a normal 3 socketed large w 1 flawed and two chipped diamonds (best available at the time).

I figure on levelling a bit in A3 towns mostly before leveling on the council (I was rushed so can pick areas pretty much for now just need Ruined quest in A3 for the stats). Currently at level 22 I think. Putting all points in CS for now. Will add a decoy at 24 as I recall that being very useful in occupying part of the council. Throwing jav's is pretty poor now as LB damage is poor at 1 pt invested. Have one pt in plague jav so may give it a try though.

Is a normal three socket tower good enough thru the game? Looking at the other shields it doesn't seem that anything else is worth all the strength points required. Currently I hope to use 3PD. If I see you on I'll holler and thanks for the offer.

Well, it wont help the defense rating, but it is the best block of the sock shields. My Sorc is using a 3 sock Gothic.

Many people end up spending a ton of time or trading off a ton of stuff trying to nab that top of the line Grim which I beleive at the most can give you 20 priz and 20 extra in on rez, then of course the faster and increased block and in some cases skills. Same goes for other Exceptional sheilds.

Myself, I have made countless characters with 3 sock towers, and yes I am sure I get hit more than others do with the godly shields but it works. Since you will also have your passives you should be fine, but dont get into this "I am godly syndrome" and get your but surrounded. Many lesser gears can be game end items but you have to play according to your gear.

Back to the "godly shields" unfortunately it takes godly gear everywhere else to use them and get rez. I suggest simply playing and planning on never having them and if the luck comes your way you should be able to adjust to use them somehow.

A darm good Zon setup is Irthras as it gets big rez and som IAS and a few more things. If you can work on getting that and a really good set of boots and a nice ammy and rings you may be able to go to something like a decent Grim laters.

Remember, with some really good belt/boots/glooves and jewelry a Zon could go to a Twitch and really be hard to hit even though her Defense will be low, so there are many options.

Oh ya.......Not sure this has been mentioned, but lvl 9 imbues or Armors, shields, belts, helms ...etc can actually be damn nice items, so if you want to give that a shot go for it. Many people in classic just grab a Hellforge, some selct items like Hsarus and maybe Hand of Broc, make a lvl 9+ and imbue, either erase them and do it again, or save them as a mule for a death or whatever.

Even lvl 9 weapons can be adequte.

Well I had a pretty good night until I died. Was on my 6th Trav run with only 1 council member left. I cant remember his name, but it was the guy who curses you. So anyways I still had a Golem and a mage left and they were keeping him occupied, so I took my eyes off the screen to watch Ross and Rachel kiss one last time and then I heard the familiar sound of being cursed. So I looked back, wondering why I'm hearing this and to my horror he was already upon me. Was not quick enough on the pots. RIP.

You know, I die more by being distracted than by anything else. I'm seriously thinking of moving my pc into the bathroom. That would actually save me a few TP's since I wont have to go back to town for pi$$ breaks.

Ah well since I have absolutely nothing to do this weekend, so I have 48 hours of nothing but D2. Rathi will live again!!!!

Bsafe and stay alive.

Made it to level 26 and gosh darn :surprise: number 150 on the java ladder.

Running council is a good idea (uhh generally, sorry Rathi) as walking around Durance 2 is alot riskier, too many dang dolls. Did go and kill Izual. Decoy helps with gloams and Izzy. Given that each time he actually hit me he took 1/3 of my life it was better to let'em play "whack-the-decoy" while I poked him in the backside (chicken yes but also safer). Found number of rares (mostly Cathan's which I gave to some TEB Sorcs and Isen swords which I sold) and Hand of Broc gloves. Still wearing 16 to res cold and 24 mf gloves while I level around however.

Learned hit recovery matters and 10% is not enough when got swarmed by snakes in Ruined Fane off causeway and had to TP out while chugging madly. Course Stinger came in later and cleaned it out despite my desperate warning...course they were probably already exhausted from beating on me. CYA in Asia *viamede2

Well My char died as well, I had a lvl 32 orb sorc and died doing norm meph runs. Anyways I have a lvl 16 paladin in act 2 ready to go and i'll be on later this afternoon. Hope to see some of you there.

Well Viamede, i beleive i had a bit of an advantage due to gear and depending on how you are building maybe damage as I have max CS for lvl. i also have a nice little low lv setup of this:

WoE
Twitch
Cathans ring
Rare Ring with ML, AR, some rez, 1 mana/kia and something else
dual rez boots
Irthras Belt and Ammy which gives some damage, big poison and 15 Priz (intend to aquire the set for her eventually)
Dusk Deep
hand of Broc Should use Bloodfists but she found these
And i am using Spears since my twitch and other items have given me some stat points to allow it a bit earlier. The damage itself from say Short Spears to Spears isnt all that impressive but the speed goes from fast to very fast and it is noticable!!!

Irthras set isnt "godly" but it gives you like 20 IAS and IIRC around 45+ all in Hell making it very possible to get max and use a "Godly Shield of Block and some resists" which is what i hope to find and use and may imbue. Simply a good pair of boots and a nice ring or two can make it real easy. The set gives you little to help kill but it keeps you alive and that is the key. A few more points in Penetrate is worth it if oyu need AR.

From my exp the ammy and belt seem to be the harder to find but my luck has given me those and none of the rest!!!

FHR/Hit Recovery ATM is my Sorcs greatest weakness and i need to work on this as she also only has 10 and even the smallest of attacks bother me. ATM however my primary gambler is her and she is now to high a lvl for productivity and she is FULL of gold so I intend to get either my 30 Necro or 26 Java up to about 35-40 and gamble a TON and collect more gold to gamble more. One of them, probably the Necro will sit at that lvl until I am happy with my collection of gambled items before I lvl him more.

Well your ahead in the equipment dept that's for sure. I have maxed c/s for my level as well. My biggest weakness at the time was lack of hit recovery. As I entered that temple I was getting whacked so fast by the snakes (which actually die almost instantly when hit) that I was stuck in hit recovery animation. I have since gambled a rare plated belt with 17% FHR as well as life, mana and some res so added to the 10% on the boots things are better. You must have some FRW as I was lagging way behind you running.

I am still using a javelin for the faster attack as the short spear is too slow and not sure it is worth investing the stat points to get the dex up to 65 for a spear just for a bit of extra damage. Then again I have dual leach and res on one rare ring and life leach and res on the other so I suppose the extra spear damage would help leaching.

Can you get plus skills on spears in classic? If so I would obviously up the dex to use them. I have one extra skill point now with all the pre-req's for CS (semi wasted a point in power strike thinking level two would help early on-it didn't), LF and decoy. A point in each of Critical and penetrate. I have 3 in dodge, 2 avoid and 3 evade -having used my Izzie points-and do not plan on adding more. Plan on maxing cs and lf and then split points between pierce and valk. Undecided were to stop valk and whether to put points in plauge jav for LI's or max a synergy for lightning- should I live so long.

I may go Phoons!!! I have before on my Javas in Classic but you dont need to. I would go to spears, they are a larger stack and you will want that when you start throwing. I also use my Jab for leech when I can instead of drinking and I think i will be able to hurt LIs with Phoons later but I dont know we will see how the spears go first and add later.

No, there are no magical or rare throwing items so not +skills and they of course dissapear when you throw the last one.

I will probably never solo in Hell except areas i know i can with minimal LIs so I wont get poison. The LF Zon can really create some carnage in CS and in some other areas and I am building here simply for some fun, not as a "main character". i tend to occasionally drink a bit much now and again and i always got out the java for Drunkin Cows in 1.09 only this time it will be drunkin CS!!! May be a short life. There is of course one other purpose for this lady also.

I thik many of you guys need to try and organize up a bit........maybe even get a schedule or something so you can all get hooked up together and not run solo so much. a lot of the deaths are solo running, hell if you are solo make a new guy and get am Imbue or get started for the next death and maybe find a few more things along the way to help your main guys.

i know we have a small group in CS, and cluster of people that seem to never all be on that are in NM to late NM and then there are a good number of people in the 20-30 area due to death or new arrivals.

I personally have this Java who will mutalate cows soon and a 30 Necro that can do well there also. Maybe we can get these 20-30s lvled up, get em in NM and get things rolling, and get them lvled up and strong in hopes to stop the deaths and get a good crew of people all running NM. Hell I even have a baby Hammerdin I can get to 20 and mutalate cows.

Well right now im lvl 21 with the eye in act 3... My barb is going strong...still looking for a reg or flawless topaz to throw in the last socket of my 3 socket phase blade(reg topaz/saphire in there now). His damage is pretty crappy, but not to bad right now. I can kill solo pretty easily. Havnt been to lucky yet with finding anything, and cathans ring and some angelic jewlery would be nice, but o well, will do with what i have. Did buy a BSoD last night though, was pretty happy about that.

Yup I figured she was going need to team up more in NM and anywhere in hell (if and when). Never see any TEB's in NM and nowhere near ready for it. Not sure if I've time to start another character now but will see. I certainly am enjoying the "newness" of classic and the peace and quiet of the Asia realm (just good people so far).

its near the bottom of the first page now since I made it late last night and no one was on to reply. the point of it is to organize, be aware of what chars people are maknig, what gear to look out for for them. so if you are a new BAC (Bird's Asian Challenge) player please by all means post there your account name and what you are making and looking for to complete your build.

Also on the orginization level I'm sort of messed up by my schedule as to when i can/cant play. so I thoguht about it and what I'm gonig to do with my UH6_Classic account is build an enchantress and maybe like one other 'main' char and the rest of it will be mules of starting over type equipment (nothing fancy, just like gemmed bows, maybe some BSoDs and semi-decent rare low level weapons, rubied masks ect...).

When the sorc is done I'll give the PW of the account to Bird and stinger who are on more than I usually am so that this will be availabel if I'm not there. Also I'll need someone to enchant me if (lol more like WHEN) I die and have to start over.

But hey, if everyone knows what everyone else is building and what equip they are looking for and what to do if they die and need to get back up and runnnig quickly thats pretty good level of organization for a game like this with so many differnt ages, time zones, and other commitments to have. :buddies:

Well my paladin is lvl 26 now, had some good questing with Cooner and a random guy that I met in a game. Cooner and I killed Mephisto quite easily, thanks for the good questing :thumbsup: . I Hope to be on later tonight so maybe i'll see some of you then. Oh btw my acct on asia is *Billys_Hardcore.

I just found my second Cleg's claw so I have an extra if anyone wants one.

anyway, found me a couple +skills ammies... one for a barb with some dex, another for a pali with no second mod. if someone wants one, holler next time you see me (it's not like it's hard to find someone on asia if they're online....)

also, to the classic experts, what are good imbueing levels for end-game gear? I don't plan on doing too much mfing, since this is more for fun than long-term, but i will need some gear for hell, and imbuing and gambling seem the way to get it...

Well, since I stupidly beat nm diablo, all I can see are hell games. Which sucks, because I'm only lvl 43 and still have 5 quests to do in nm with many wps to find. So I'm kinda stuck in a rut.

I just found angelic armor. I'm not using it right now so if anyone needs it let me know. I am using sigs belt and would like to get ahold of another piece of it for the partial set bonus.

the pala ammy sounds interesting too but I'm thinknig those arent too hard to find/gamble.

Saw someone's level 25 get whacked by Spankfist in a normal game today too.

Based on how that fight went I'm not fighting a holyshock bremm ever again. His hits were taknig off huge chunks of life right through my maxed lightning resist. I tried to ditch him but the other guy stayed behind to fight...

Well my paladin is lvl 26 now, had some good questing with Cooner and a random guy that I met in a game. Cooner and I killed Mephisto quite easily, thanks for the good questing :thumbsup: . I Hope to be on later tonight so maybe i'll see some of you then. Oh btw my acct on asia is *Billys_Hardcore.

uh6, you're right, the pali ammy probably is an easy one to gamble. but it's doing me no good in my necro's stash, so next time i catch you, it's yours. i've got sig's boots too, but my necro is using em now, so if you've got a pair of rares or something with good resists, maybe some faster r/w, i'd trade em to you.

My Templar just made count and level 31.

Diablo dropped a pretty nice rare full helm with mana resists and a little life. Not to be outdone corpsefire dropped a rare full helm with nice plusses to all resist but poison no mana (sigh) but some life.

bloodraven was her usual self dropping... a rare longbow.

Still not practical for me to use fist much becuase of the mana cost and the fact that i just do way more damage with zeal/holyshock. But hey, its only at level 2.

It is very effective in certain tactical situations. Vs diablo for instance my holy shock just wasnt hurting him much. but when i switched to convict and fist... that hurt him. I had to run back to town like 5 times for blue potions though. Also it's nice vs any monster that raises up other monsters.

Finally moved onto NM with my Java level 34 after finding sigs boots (need for speed). Found a few uniques as well. Got hostiled for 1st time (in Asia) by a level 18 Barb against my level 12 pally (given that all my points were largely invested in resist cold I decided to leave). Kind of ticked me given that I previously ran with the guy earlier that day. Didn't seem to like my TEB tag for some reason. I've gathered some useful low level set stuff/uniques and wondered if PKK is or is not Teb approved? Never tried it but I wouldnt mind bringing in a low level but more suited char when this happens again....otherwise I'll continue to just move on.

ok, check out the hc trading forum for the new BAC trades thread. Anyone who wants should head on over, post the various "uber" junk they've found and list anything they're looking for... then we can pass around gear as the need arises.

Having a good time with this guys... another nice night of questing/lvling last night with Billy and some other random west sc convert. The lag was bad at times (hit spikes of 1.5k ping) but overall not terrible. And between Billy's hammers and my CE, whole groups of monsters go flat in seconds. We were cruisin through a2/a3 with no trouble at all.

If anyone hostiles you I personally dont care how you kill them as long as it doesnt include hacks! PKK and Dueling is perfectly fine with TEB and many of us have PKKed in the past but it usually comes from some butthead being totally a butthead.

Our PK wars are won in the lvling aspect. Same goes with total buttheads. We normally have a big game going and PKs arent alloed and buttheads get blackballed. They get rather ticked off about it but I refuse to help lvl some guy just so he can attempt to PK my friend.

Had a Necro who decided he would snag all the drops my 43 Java was producing in Norm. i was being nice and helping ppl out at least he can keep his hands off. Well the poor little Necro wasnt invited to the next game. Ill give him another chance but if he dont change his ways I simply wont game with him. He offered to give the item back and appologized when he realized he was solo. I just told him "No, you earned that belt fairly, you keep it but you will also go earn your own exp".

I dont game with obvious buttheads........In a small community it pays not to be a butthead!!!

Also, if there is anyone "stuck in Hell" let us know. It is virtually impossible for most any build to solo Hell in Classic wihtout spending like 3 hours or more per act and risking death every 10 mins. Myslef, and a few others are normally open to run with you for company and might be able to arrange some BO. It is also possible to get a "bus" but i really dont want to push anyone to that as I know most of us came here for the challenge and there isnt much challenge to being rushed.

Keep gambling, or start, it pays off well! Just got me a nice pair of boots the other night with triple rez but they were a low number. The godlies will come, it just takes gold.

Also.......as for the Imbuing of things and what lvl?!?!?! God i wish I knew the answers. i have heard and seen many theorys. Bird tends to go to lvl 70 and imbue 3 weapons. Many people make many lvl 9's and even imbue weapons like Bhammers and Marts where 100-120% is adequte. Armors do earlylike under 35-40 as after 40 some things like life regen and other stupid mods show up.

Just so you dont get your hopes up.......I have made somewhere around 25-30 Kings and queens and others that died a bit early, among that i probably had say 100 Imbues and only 2 times did i get a good weapon, but I got several good armors. There is a reason i preach the "live of the land" style of play as I have the worst imbue luck in the world! Go go Clegs!!! Dont need those stinking imbues!

you get one look at a rare of some item of your choice. sure you pick the item and the imbue level but since just like in the game 90% of the rares you find are going to be utter crap its not that great.

wouldn't it be cool if there were certain sought after mods on each itme type that were set to come up like 2x more likely than the other mods that suck?

That would make it a quest worth doing :clap:

you'd still get jobbed more often that not but you'd have a fair chance over 100 imbues of geting s few that were really worthwhile.

The things about low lvl imbues that is nice is you limit the mods possible!

i beleive the 100-120 ED Mod for weapons is available very low like at 9-18 or something like that.

there is a writeup in the strat comp about imbues from 1.08 but I have never found an updated one. If you use that as a guide even if it isnt correct you will see that there are a ton of mods you just dont ever want on a weapon liek resists...etc. These all become available at certain lvls.

Now if you want an adequate weapon then do some low lvl imbues. if you already have to adequate eapon but want godly then go for the higher lvl imbues. +2 comes into play somewhere after 60 but so does like 3-5 mods you NEVER want on a weapon!!!

Like I said before, I have asked many people hat the best time to imbue was and nobody has a specific lvl. They just seem to have what they beleive in.

Bird will lvl to 70 and imbue 3 weapons and almost always Martels

Maxx likes the lvl 50 area (if you look at strat comp writeup you can see why)

About 2-4 others i know liek to forgoe the godly possibilites and narrow thier odds and go lvl 35-40.

I have seen others say that lvl 25 for Norm, 40 NM, and 65 for Hell...........this makes some since in a way as at each of those lvls you start needing better stuff.

All of these different people have had good luck with thier techniques but i havent had luck with any of them!!!

BTW, almost everyone says 25 is a good time for armors, or wait till 45 for more godly ones.

Dont forget, 6 skulls is a reroll on a rare, and skulls are worthless otherwise.......save them up and roll a few things. Remember they loose quality on a roll so what you want to roll are the high lvl crappy items liek a +2 BHammer with no ed, or +2 Grim with no ED, no rez, no block as they will be that lvl 45_ or something like that.....maybe higher, i forget.

i tend to reroll Armors, I have had great luck with armors, and a few friends also tend to roll armors or grims. i have done BHammers in the past and gottens some 110-130 damage ones also......those are adequate weapons.

With all that said, I will make my Clegs Barb, Hammerdin, Necro and sorc.........FIND some good rares and adjust or build more guys to use them! Those 4 builds of mine dont need a lot of things to work.

Just wondered why anyone would run NM or hell bosses in classic with so few higher uniques, now I know. Guess I'll need another mule or two to save up p-skulls and rares to roll...cursed little chest :rant:

I will find the items i need, it is part of the challenge i put myself thru. i dont normally trade much, and by the time i really start trading I am usually very close to going to another rolm, or classic to xpac or something as I am getting bored!

The real fun in this game to me is not having the best items it is getting by to find them.

I always wondered what the point is of buying the best equipment in the game since to me the real thrill if any of playing is finding thnigs that are really nice and better than what you normally have on.

Today a lvl 86 guy was hanging out and wanted to show off some things he'd found. We talked some and then I asked him if he had a 3 socket helm. he did and gave it to me. i gave him a perfect skull i had and he was so happy he gave me 2 p topaz to stuff in the helm.

I wasnt like trying to get him to give me godly stuff, just something i would have had myself in another day or so prolly. And it was cool that I was able to give him something he valued in return.

but yeah I think if you trade too much it gets to where you basically have everything you ever wanted and then what is left to play for?

i agree, to an extent. However, I enjoy planning out characters almost as much as actually playing them. And, to a large extent, you almost need to be well twinked out to do well in hell without a group of others to play with (which isn't always possible). Not to say that there aren't the go anywhere, do anything builds, but it just doesn't work for all builds. For example, the barb i'm working on in east lod is a 2handed poleaxe barb. With no shield, his resists will always suck unless I mule on that lionheart and resist jewelry. And if I don't give him that sweet rare I found, he simply won't be able to kill effectively with a store-bought pole. So yes, at times I enjoy playing more or less untwinked, but at times, I also enjoy the variety available to a twinked character.

Oh I don't mean to say anything bad about twinking(!)

I mean, you FOUND those items and thats the key point for me. You didnt go and pay for it from E-bay like one of my softcore friends used to do in 1.09

You didnt just slap together 50 perfect gems and trade it from someone else.
Sting was saying he'd rather find his own godly stuff than trade for it. and I'm agreeing. To me if getting that exact godly item I want is as easy as getting a mule full of P-gems and trading for it on the trade forum that takes a lot of the fun out of it. I have more fun making the char than having the char and part of that fun is strategizing ways to make up for the drawbacks and maximize strengths of the equipment you either have found with other chars or found with that char.

I think you learn a lot that way and become a good player rather than a walking encycolpedia of the mods of the godliest gear and the 'perfect' equipment for every build from those mostly useless guides people post in the strat compendium.

sorry if you write those guides but I think if someone is good enough to have the godly gear people usually base those guides around then they sure don't need the stinkin guide! :rant:

Well I have to admit Unholy that it is a fine line you are drawing. I gather you are mostly opposed to overpriced/overpowered builds. Which I tend to agree with as steamrolling over the game is really no fun (well I must admit I do get a little laugh in walking around act1 normal with a level 20 holy freeze and watching entire screens of monsters fall down at once with one pulse of HF, but thats just goofing). I don't think you can fairly say your anti-trade given that you and Cooner both started the only Asia hardcore trade/give-away threads on the forums (and with myself are pretty much the only posters to it). Everybody chooses for themselves how they want to play the game and as long as their not cheating/hacking I have no problem with it (ok well ebay shopping is just too sad for words).

I think it's fun to do different things [twinked, untwinked, traditional ironman (where you cannot shop or gamble or repair...which I haven't done yet but would like to try) or whatever]. Just my 2 cents. :wave:

You guys are reading into the "no trade" thing way to far.

We both trade and it is evident in our post history but we arent the types to try and trade for every simgle itme needed for a build before starting it, or shelving that SnS Barb until we get a trade for a SS we would just use the nice Gerkes, or whitstans or whatever we had laying around.

Hell in 1.09 my Barb used a Pdiamond Ward to do Hell Baal runs, a 212 CCB ...etc, far from "Baal runner" gear if you ask the general population. Hell If I would of had the full setup like GF, SS, Travs ..etc then why the hell would I need to run Baal?

I personally get flat out bored hen I get too much good stuff and if you looked at my several characters you could probably find that I could make say 5-6 totally decked out godly characters if I combined all the gear and used all my resources, but instead i have like 17 or so lvl 75-96 chracters and maybe 3-4 are semi-godly and the rest are very adequately equiped to go anywhere but not many are going to just go and own anything, they just do the job.

Godly is boring and not needed!

seems to me then that the difference is that i AM the type to gather those 50 pgems and trade them in for a good weapon, or something like that, simply because unlike you guys, i don't spend much time playing the game. I've had exactly 3 hell mfers in my d2 career and two of them mostly rotted on my account (the other was a barb who i enjoyed playing, but he did much more running around in hell than mfing.) I've played for a long time (since opening week of D1), but this is probably the most i've played in hours playing time/week ever (umm, about 5? maybe 1 or 2 during the week at the most, and usually about 3 on Sat or Sun). So I don't find the gear for most of my characters. Some of it I do, and I've never had a SS, so all my barbs go with pdiamond whistans, etc. And I've played several characters all the way through hell, both in groups and solo with that sub-uber gear. I guess my point is just that I end up doing a lot of trading to make the same kind of characters you do by grabbing whatever you have laying around. So, in a way, our mindsets are similar, but our devices are different :D

disclaimer (i don't need this for stinger/uh6 i'm sure, but others might be reading as well, and get the wrong idea): this is not a complaint, nor a gib itmz... i'm perfectly willing to admit that i'm only poor because i don't work at it, and frankly i don't care that i'm poor... i would have stopped playing a long time ago if i actually cared that much :D

imbue is more complicated than it used to...
steps to find best lvl for imbue:
1. look this calc to find out qlvl of the desired item:

2. look here to find needed affix lvl:
http://www.d2data.net
3. compare qlvl to alvl here:
http://user.rol.ru/~ns959/alvl-values.xls
What you need to do is
- find qlvl in 1st column - get the row for needed qlvl
- then in qlvl row find number equal to desired alvl
- move up and find number on top of that column
- substract 4 from that number and you get min lvl of your char to have chances of that alvl
So for battle hammer (qlvl 48) you find kings (alvl 56) and merciless (alvl 32) prefixes and get number 78. So the lvl to imbue for 200 ED battle hammer is 74

One of the things Iv'e really

enjoyed about playing in this realm is that people seem to be pretty cool with eachother.

But just now I ran into someone who is an exception. I just want to let people know what happened here and you can make your own decision about helping/playing with this person.

I logged in my level 39 guy and there was a Nightmare game gonig with 3 other players a pala and 2 necros. I get in the game and one of the necros asks me if I have any good necro items. I figure he posts here and knows I give stuff to people starting out if I have it. So I tell him no I just gave away a nice wand but dont have anything good for a necro.

He asks if I have any P-Diamond. I tell him ill have to check. We kill Andy then right away he asks me to check for perfect diamonds. I dont have any so I tell him ill look on my mules later. He says 'well I have to go in a minute'

So I tell him ok go ahead an make a game in normal. He does, I get there with the mule with most of my gems. I happen to have 2 flawless diamond which i drop. He say's "don't you have any perfect?" SO I'm thinking WTF? I say 'I can always take them back.' He says LOL like its just the funniest thing in the world.

Then he asks do I have any items at all becuase this is his first char. I get my other mule with rare items on it that I got form MFing that I thought would be cool for people statrting out. I had a ring mail on there i was going to use for my next melee char, level 13 or 15 with 30 lit res and 27 life. I say 'well here is something good.' and give it to him.

He says: 'uhhhh'
I say 'Uhhh what?'
He says 'Uhhh this is good?'
I say 'Never mind. you are pretty ungrateful.' and leave.

I dont know if I should post the guys char and account or not. I wrote it down so I don't accidently help him later. If people want to know they can just ask me I guess.

The point I want to get across is this. My pet peeve is ungrateful disrespectful people. I spend a fair amount of time on Asia right now MFing and putting together stuff to give people to help them get started if they come over. And if you ask for stuff and I have it I will give it. But...

If I give you a few semi-good rare items and a gemmd bow dont say 'don't you have any sigons?' or whatever. Yes I probobly do, and so will you.. when you find your own. I don't owe you a darn thing, if I give you something and you think it's crap #1 you are probobly wrong. its probobly better than what you have and will find in the next day or so. #2 If you feel like you have to belittle me by saying 'uhhh this is good?' how do you know that the next time I'm out exping or MFing I don't happen to find an Umes or a rare with mana and + necro skills. you don't. what you can be sure of though is it isnt coming your necro's way.

Also... this person ended up playing for like at least another hour after this happend. so he lies to me about having to leave so I leave the game i came in to exp and quest to bring out my mules and look for some gear for him. Then his only response to the things I give him is to insult me. People this rude and selfish just need to stay in softcore IMO. At least do us a favor and don't come over to Aisa Classic where most people by far are very cool to game with.

Yes I'm still using the shield you gave me and will soon be able to use the weapon. both are awesome.

A happy ending to that story.

Just now I ran CS and diablo and a rare necro wand with + to energy, 20% faster cast +1 necro skills and +3 bone spirit among other things dropped. Like I said in the other post why be rude if you don't like an item someone offers you? Never know what they might find next.

Just glad to know that some cool player with a level 22 or so necro will soon be using this wand instead of that childish idiot I posted about. :clap:
