Best Merc for a Lvl 9 PK Build?

I can't figure out which would be best for a lvl 9 PK TS Assassin..

I don't need a A3 Cold Merc because i'm using a 1-3 Cold dmg LC.. besides they hardly ever hit their target.

A1 Mercs, same problem as A3 Mercs.

A2 Mercs seems nice in theory, with a nice boost to AR with Blessed Aim or defense with a defiance merc, but because of a bug(?) they won't seem to activate their aura at low lvls. When you hire a merc regardless of diff they can't be a higher level than yourself so they will always be lvl 9.

I'm starting to lean towards a A5 merc because of high stats and knockback..

If anyone has any experience on this subject, I would love to hear your advice :)

I'm also wondering about Mercs and their Attack Rating.. do they need it at all? If a lvl 9 Merc where to try and hit a lvl ~40 would it help if they had alot of AR jewels in their armor and helm?

Mercs won't help you much, but if I had to choose one, I would suggest an Act 2 NM Might mercenary (you are rushed, right?).

Load him up with whatever you want.

Erm get act 2 holy freeze (rush in classic if you can't then convert) it will be lvl 9 just like you so no annoying leveling and your 1-3 cold won't help in most cases because most use deaths belt for CBF, CBF does not work on holy freeze.

Mmmm... right. Have anyone actually been able to get his lvl 9 Act 2 Nightmare Holy Freeze merc to activate his aura.. ever?

I use an Act 3 Cold Iron Wolf which will eventually have:
3-Socket Mask (Flawed Rubies)
3-Socket Breast Plate (Flawed Rubies)
3-Socket Kite Shield (Life Jewels)
6-Socket Crystal Sword (Life Jewels)

I've also seen that Sigon's-wielding low level characters produce somewhat of a challenge for my attack rating... Other mercenary possibilities include an Act 2 Might or Blessed Aim mercenary...

3-Socket Mask (Flawed Rubies)
3-Socket Breast Plate (Flawed Rubies)
Rare Pike with 100+ dmg
