[West Ladder] PvP Thread

I thought it would be good if those of us that like to duel on West Ladder, had a thread where we could organize duels, chat etc.
There are no official set rules other than showing mutual respect and good mannered dueling, you all know what is and isn't considered bm.
Ive met some good people on ladder and I'm sure we can get a fun group together, so put down your swords and claws, unsummon your army and grab a cold one... 'to the next game' :drink: cheers

I think that is a great idea. I'm pretty sick of dueling in pubbie games, cause 95% of them degenerate into racial taunting and nking within 5 minutes. And CH pretty much is only NL.

Still need a few more points into nova for me to fell good about this build's damage. Although it really punishes those -res players. When they get 1 or 2hkoed by my less than 2k tstorm you know they have low res. :lol:

PS: I think pubby dueling is getting better and better. In the last 3 games, I haven't met a single horribly bm build and there was no nking, etc. It used to be that every game has 3trapsins, 4foh pallies and you. Now I'm good enough/rich enough that foh usually isn't a problem and trappers don't seem as popular anymore, I haven't seen one in a few days and that was about the least bm and annoying as possible as trapsins go :thumbsup:

yeh good idea about the private game, I spent the last day or so rebuilding my wwsin but she's back in action now and dishing out some lvl65 beat downs hehe, lvl1-lvl65 in one go... my eyes were melting. At work for the next 8hours from time of post, but then i have another 4 days off, some duels are definatly in order, might have to lvl up some more as due to re build i'm still in nm and cant duel in hell atm. :thumbsup:

edit: what sort of times best for you guys ? I'm on UK time but I'm on most hours of the day heh. lmk best day/time and what time zone your in so i can go work it out on one of those world zone clocks hehe. cya on the killing fields :drink:

I think weekends are the best bet for getting the maximum amount of people for a game. Too much crap to do on the weekdays to have any easy time for us all to get on.

Usually they arn't all that bad. It is just when someone accidently nks someone else and they take it personally that things get ugly. It just becomes one giant revenge-a-thon. On the other hand...some people are just jerks and they start off nking and townguarding and using full rejuvs whenever they lose 20 life.

Heres a tip to prevent nk wars. If someone nks you give them the benefit of the doubt. Most of the time it was an accident. (Hurricane is horrible at this. I accidently murder people just by standing still. Bear too now that I think about it.) If they nk you 3 or more times in a row clearly on purpose...well then you can show them how its done.

Anytime you see me on just give me a msg and we can get some duels goin.

What do you guys think about organising a fun ladder tourney, I'm sure it would provide some good duels, a few laughs and some more mbrs to add to our merry bunch?
Thinking along the lines of having 3 cat's

i) 1v1
ii) 3v3 Team
iii) Wirts Free For All :flip:

First two are self explanitory, Wirts Free For All is just a bit of fun and could go something like this, 6 players take part per game and start in town, 6 normlvl Wirts legs are placed at the entrance to the Cold Plains, the winner is the last one alive that has collected one of the Wirt Legs. If the survivor has no Wirt Leg then the winner is the last one killed who has a leg. Winner of each game goes into the final. No teleport skills are allowed.
Prizes will be given for each Cat, but its for fun, not to encourage people who only want to win an Enigma, so the prizes will be personalised Digglers :winner:

LMK what you think and if you have any ideas, want to help set it up etc.

Awesome idea with the wirt legs. It has a few points that need to be cleared up though. When would the players start attacking each other? What if someone takes all 6 wirt legs? Whoever was fastest could just run over there and grab them all.
I like the 1v1 and team duels too. Picking teams will be another issue. Do we just do it random or do we try to balance them. 2v2 duels might be an option if we can only get 4 people goin in one game.


I can be there just about any time. Time will be our main problem since I get the feeling we are all in different zones. Although those digglers are tempting, I bet some us could throw in like 20 pgems(voluntary, not mandatory) and the winners could get 50 or something. I wouldn't mind throwing in some ko runes and other decent stuff too(small price to pay for fun duels). Nothing godly, but it makes things interesting.

Hey Rauth, yeh I've thought about some of those points, once a 'referee' says go you can leave town, you can attack as soon as you leave town, if some players can run alot faster i.e sins with bos it doesnt really matter as one tactic you might use is to let the others run ahead for the leg and try to take them out as they make their way back to town, its also not possible to hold more than 1 leg, the game wont let you. I'm sure we can get it to work and think it would be a blast :lol:
I think if we sort out the rules and formats of the tourney between us in here, then post a new thread to announce the comp and have replies to be posted here.
I quite like the idea of 2v2 over 3v3 anyway and I would say to enter the 2v2 you have to enter a team, select a partner yourself.

Ok, the wirt leg thing makes sense now. We will have to make up some loose rule system to prevent elem chars from being completely obselete. Sanctuary shield might cause us some problems too. Other than that runeword I can't think of any other seriously unbalancing things except enigma, but banning that would probably just make people stay away. Besides, my druid would be almost useless without it and we can't have that. We also have to think of a way to pick who is dueling who. Like make one of those charts you see for sports playoffs. Somethin like this.

Hey guys, Sorry things have been on the back burner a bit while I was getting my sin clan started, lvlin up a new char etc but I'm on it now and things are getting sorted. A few new people have got involved that will be a big help. Expect a website with a guide to mbrs and whats excepted manner wise etc and an op channel with a chatbot that will make meeting up a hell of alot easier. I'll post up details once I get them.

All it really needs now is a cta. Im working up the nerve to try making one again.(last time was 1 bo) Its workable though. I still don't know how to use it too well but I can hold my own against most classes. Some shadow gc with life would be nice too, but SOMEONE keeps taking them all. *coughYoucough*

We have thrashed out a few rules to define acceptable manners, nothing to restricting, please share ideas & comments either here or on the website.

EoF Dueling League Rules
There is no level requirement for players in this dueling league.

1. No racism, sexism, and everything else.
2. Treat people with respect. No naked kills, spamming, etc.
3. Try to keep the swearing to a minimal.
4. NO HACKS, CHEATS, OR THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS OF ANY KIND ARE PROMOTED.


What you choose to do outside of EoF is your business, but if anything against our rules, is done in our forums, games or channel, it could result in a banning. If someone is breaking any rules try to get evidence, such as screenshots and witnesses. Then report it to an EoF moderator.

DUELING RULES

“Manner Rules”

1. Duels are held in Nightmare on the Blood Moor.
2. No poitions, shrines, wells, or mercs. Mana pots are permitted.
3. There is a 25% slow cap, so players will be allowed to use Arachnid's Mesh and Astreons Ward.
4. No lagging the games. (No multiple bone walls, massive cursing, etc)
5. Do not hide from battle. If your are in a corner waiting for your health to regenerate, you will be "dead" and go to town or if you are the last one your team will lose.
6. NO HACKS, OR THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS OF ANY KIND !!
In Team Vs Team duels, one team will start at the Cold Plains, the other team will start at the entrance of the blood moor/rogue encampment. When each team has said "Go", the duel will start. If you die during the duel please stay in town until the duel is comepletely finished, you may then go get your corpse.

Selecting teams will go as follows.

Players in the game will choose two captains. These 2 players will choose their desired team. Time to choose! Captain 1 will pick one person. Captain 2 will pick 2 people. Captain 1 will pick 2 people. Captain 2 will pick one person. So the picking order is 1 2 2 1.


Balancing Rules

1. NO TELEPORT !! Players can use Enigma for the strength and run/walk bonus but do not use the teleport skill. Only pure Melee sorceresses will be able to use teleport.
2. NO BO. Players can not use the CTA to BO unless they are a barbarian. Barbs may use CTA for the BO boosts.
3. NO Oak Sage, unless you are a druid.
4. NO use of BONE PRISION.
5. Strength bug and item bugs (such as Marrowwalk bug) are allowed. It is not a hack, but an exploit.
6. No charges of amplify dmg, lower resist, or life tap may be used. Items with charges may be used. (Dracul's and Exile are allowed).
7. Only one absorb item per element. Only one Max Resist item per element.
a. Guardian Angel is not permitted.
b. Rising sun is banned.
c. Nightwing + Raven is not allowed. Both give cold absorb.
d. Players can use raven frost + thunder gods + dwarf star, but not 2 raven frosts. Exile, and bramble count as max resistance, so you cannot have 2 items with max resist to the same element.
8. Necros that use bone armor may only have 30% Damage Reduced
a. Stacked resistances or any block is allowed.
9. Lightning sentry trappers can have any amount of DR.
a. Stacked resistances or any block is allowed.
b. Damage reduced from FADE is not capped..
Any player may have any amount of faster run walk they wish to posess.

First few games have gone off and been alot of fun, no bm YaY :drink:

My favorite rule.

NO use of BONE PRISION.
My second favorite rule for the same reasons as my first.


There is an easy way to clear the field of any lag. Have everyone move to act2 for about 3 seconds and the moor will be cleared of bone wall remains and those damn shadow master flashes(you'd have to use dialup to know wtf I'm talking about).


The only real problem I can see right now is zons overpowering most builds. Knockback/lifetap/openwounds/25%slow/ sucks when you can't teleport and they are faster than you. Actually, it sucks either way but without teleport it seems a little overkill. We'll have to see. If zons kick everyones *** then we'll just nerf them hahaha. *brandishes nerf-stick menacingly*


Lookin forward to some good games. Soon as these damn finals are done with at least. Team duels sound especially fun.

Had some great duels earlier. Hopefully we can get more as we go. We managed to get about 5 people together for some interesting 2v3s. The balancing rules seemed to work pretty well. I didn't notice one class overpowering any others although we didn't have too much variety. 1 ww sin, 2 ww barbs, blizz sorc, bone/psn necro(I think?),charge/hammerdin, orb sorc were all the duelers that we messed with I think.

Lookin forward to getting some more up later tonight. GGs all.

On my last shift at work so I have 4 days off for dueling coming up WOOT, keepin the channel open while we build up members is a good idea, we can lock down when we get a decent ammount or too many lamers :thumbsup:

Heh, that pnova don't hurt much in nightmare. Of course, I was a ww sin with nat armor and fade so that didn't help ya. Next time maybe we can even the teams better with more people. 4v4 will be fun.

After you left, Troy got his mediocre enchant sorc to team up with me for 2v2 duels. 6k ww hurts with venom/firedamage/phys damage. That could make for some interesting strategies. I'm thinking full enchant sorc with beast/widowmaker+ ww barb/sin= awsome team. I'll bring in my windy next time to see how he fares with no tele.

Also, I think we need a rule that allows any equipment in 1v1 duels IF: both sides agree. This way we can have some interesting tele duels. In team duels all rules apply so it is fair for both sides.

Another dueling idea is just a all-vs-all duel. Everyone hosts everyone else and starts when a set referee says go. Whoever gets the most kills wins, so that people don't just stay out of the way to outlast everyone else. This could get complicated in 8 player games but should be easy to set up for 4-5 player games.

I don't think the channel is restricted. Type it in exactly like it says. "/join op eof-" The bot should be there if you did it right.

Soon as I rebuild my windy for max block he should do fairly well against anything that has to get close(imagine your barb with oak). Might fill up my bottom row with frw charms so I can outrun bone spirits and whatnot. Not sure how much of a difference 10 of them would make though.

Sorry, this is just west ladder. Try the Clan honor forums for nonladder duels. They use similar rules(ours are really just modified version of theirs) and they have alot more people. Have fun.

Had some good 2v2 duels with troys nec and my windy after ya left.
HAH, troys barb ain't so strong without my oak to boost him to 8k life.

I did get wasted the first few duels though. Ga+traps+mb is just too much for my poor little druids fhr to handle. Took me awhile to get used to no tele but I figured out a few tricks after you left. kookgook not nessesarily. i was thinking that without guided they would sux but after some duels with deads trapsin and magic arrow.. i found out its not half bad. seems to always hit and all u need is very good aim.. of course i didnt win any of the duels when using ma i realized i only have 1 point in it and it was usable.

I think we need to see how well a good GA zon does first before outright banning of it. I dueled KookGooks zon and I think he would probably beat everyone pretty bad with that mass dmg GA. The only reason I won was with teleport. High life barb would be the only one to even survive more than a few hits from that.

Whats multi going to kill? Banning GA would make bowazons pretty crappy, but otherwise they will probably waste everyone else. We can always balance the teams so that the one with GA zon has less people or something. I guess marrows are ok. Troys necro got its butt kicked anyway. Whoever had that kicker worked very well against him. I had to spam tornados by troy just to keep him from being dflighted.

PS. AboutGA...it will be allowed we rethought it and we said yes...if worse comes to worse and zons just **** everyone we can just nerf it. but with ga allowed it will encourage other builds, Bow Pala, Barb or sorc, etc this is the main reason we NOW allow it :) ill update the rules asap

You could try a medic pala like dkay is makin. It will be tough without gear though. I don't usually have much spare(too many mooching friends), but I will save some medium stuff if I find some. I can give you any rush you need, just msg me *rauthgar2.

I suggest that we consentrate on EoF in the new ladder, we should be able to build up a large group of duelers on the new ladder if we put some effort in from day one. Although I intend to play my ex-ladder chars alot(spent too much time/effort to give them up) I will be starting the new ladder with a few friends. My question is, if new ladder starts, will the dupers figure out a way to do it again? Hopefully they won't and we can have an interesting new economy. People might actually start cubing up to high runes using ists/guls from hellforges.

I will probably be there, so thats one more person to duel with.

Looks likely there will be new ladder2 items, blizz had said before that NL would always be a season behind for new items, hope there will be some stuff that spawns new fun builds to try. pshh magic absorb.. i hope they just do away with all absorb and just cut down the dmg of elemental skills, because right now its really hard to find a fair ammount of absorb to use vs these high dmg chars and it seems like half the people i duel that wear 1 raven frost can only take like 1-2 orbs, but if they put the second one on it takes me like 10 good orbs or something, maybe these people should just learn to dodge orb though O_o
