when should i imbue weapons or amour for best results, either high dam w/ faster speed or high defense w/ quick recovery?

What i do is wait till the end of the game when my char is in Hell act 5 about high 80's in clvl. Then i use my imbune quests. I find elite normal items only, mostly collosus blades or bloodlord skulls and stuff like that. At clvl 80 u can actually roll mods like Cruel nad Grandmaster's in normal. diabloii.net has a imbuneing guide btw.

ok one more thing that peeps dont seem to know/care about/forget:

if you imbue an eth dimensional blade, and use the upgrade cube recipe, it will turn into an eth phase blade with no durability. this means you get the self-repair suffix free. useful if you get lucky and imbue a cruel/fools/speed modded dimensional blade

for best results u have to know the affixes u wish on the item and their affixlvl. u can check them in the itemdatabase on dii.net.
when i remember correct the max possible affixlvl for imbue is +/- 4 of your charlvl.
the higher your chars lvl the higher affixes are available in general.

That is one thing i forgot to mention, if u are looking for a specfic mod besides the really high ones like Cruel, Fool, Grandmasters, etc., u should check the itemsdatabase and get ur character lvl close to the lvl of the mod so u will have less options and have a better chance of getting what u want. The less options there are the more likely u will get the one u want. Just in case this is confusing, it is like looking in barrel of 100 red balls for a blue one at low lvls. But at lvl 80 it is like a barrel i 10000 red balls and 1 blue one. The more options there are the harder it is to get a specfic one.
