really strange meph drop.

I was running meph today killing him over and over again. Some decent things droped aswell as many...not so decent. During one of my last runs something odd happened. I killed him of and saw a bundle of things fly into the air and when i ALT-looked i saw 9 (NINE) items on the ground. I never seen more then 5 before.

First i thought a boss might have sneaked its way into my killing range, but that seems highly unlikely, i killed him close to portal and didnt notice any monsters approaching and no second corpse was on ground.

Anything like this happened to u guys?

could u be more specific what items dropped? potions, coins, items, etc... :jig:

It was a lil bit of everythin, no gold if i remember correctly, in fact i think it was all equipment. I should have taken a screenshot, but i didnt think of it.

No uniques or sets, 2 rares, rest blue or gray.

U might have jsut gotten a really really good quest drop (sometime u get it even if u already did the quest). Also it could have simply been a bug. On a 8 player games he drops huge like that, maybe bnet just hiccuped and gave u a 8 player quest drop.

yup its possible. i once had a drop from meph that consists 2 rares, 1 set, 2 unqiues and 3 + magical.

The coolest drop is when andy drops 5 or 6 uniques and nothing else. I had that happen once or twice. Of course nothing good was in the pile but the color looked good!

U might have jsut gotten a really really good quest drop (sometime u get it even if u already did the quest). Also it could have simply been a bug. On a 8 player games he drops huge like that, maybe bnet just hiccuped and gave u a 8 player quest drop.

as far as i know endboss drops are not effected by number of players in the game. the opposite is true for normal monsters though.
for the other theories i have no explanation ;)

You sure? Meph doesn't drop grey stuff.

No possibility that a ghoul lord (or whatever they're called) snuck in and died at the same time?

Or a chest you didn't see but accidentally popped at the same time?

there was def a grey. The chest thing i didnt think of and its all very blury now. But yes, i assume that could have been it. At least thats the most likely explanation. But that chest would have had to been very far down and then line up the items perfectly with mephs drops.

Anyway, if it happens again, ill be more alert, and snap a pic.

Just came to think of it, cause I sometimes have trouble seeing some of the chests down there.

Don't forget that those Council bastards can spawn with Teleportation quite often. One may have Teleported over and died just as Meph did.
