Heard someone saying their 290 poofed. May be a good sign.

One of my friends who has like 30 of these said that like 10 of his disappeared within a few days. Sure its' his fault that he traded for dupes when he knew that they would poof someday, but I'm feeling sorry for him since he put so much effort in getting all of them.
On another note, one of my Call to Arms and a Sur rune vanished a couple of days ago. Blah, it's only a game; nothing to get upset about.
I lost an UM rune out of my inventory that I picked up off of Shenk.
It was a private passworded game and noone else was there with me.
I didn't get upset about it (much) but I want to know how Shenk got ahold of a duped rune :cheesy:
Is it possible that Rust storm likes legit stuff too?!?

Awsome .. Finally.. maybe we'll start being able to trade for stuff non-ladder without everyone ONLY wanting 290's, and refuseing to trade for anything else.. :)
well my friend who plays nonladder told me 290s are like currency (just like runes on ladder) and no one really uses them. Wonder what will happen if more starts dissapearing....

See? Dupers are everywhere!
And 290's disappearing... YAY!!! I'd better trade the whole 4 that I have for some good stuff...

Could be - I think I actually ended up with a FAL rune in its place though - so it was just a really weird situation and I do have a bit of a lag problem (dial up through AOL - bleah! - and my phone lines have been screwed up about the same time). It was US East Ladder BTW.
Like I said, no biggie (even if it WAS my FIRST UM) Easy come - easy go.

Yep, its true. I recently bought 10 290s for trading (since thats the only thing kids on NL seem to be willing to trade for). They started dissappearing on me in just a few days. I quickly traded the rest off before they were all gone.

Yes I've noticed that at times normal legit items will turn into their base form, or another item in its class.
Nah. The NEW dupes are disappearing. The old dupes arnt.
Old duped 290s sta. New duped 290s are still here.

Well, I don't really understand why people actually want these 'things', but seriously, 290psn dam over 10 secs?? For sins it would be impossible to use since it'll only be like 11.6psn dam, so pretty useless, and for other chars too, when they have one little stat with psn dam, the sc will become useless.
And for those of the users who actually only carry about 50 of these things to let them do damage, its way to slow for pvp, antidote
So I don't understand why they are so 'valuable' to all, and a second thing: I have only seen a few people ask for them to trade, so I don't really understand why you people call it currency, most people I see are interested in a ChaosClaw and perfect skillers. (I thought the non ladder economy revolved around skillers)
Poison sources work wonders with bows. Check out the Tao of Poison (http://www.diabloii.net/strategy/x-articles/taopoison.shtml) in the DII.net Strategy Compendium.

The non-ladder economy revolves around 290 PDSCs, 3/20/20 Max/AR/Life SCs, SOJs, and finally, perfect gems. If you trade in these forums however, swap the first two items with runes.
One of the elements of currency is that each piece of currency doesn't vary in value from one piece to another. A dollar is a dollar is a dollar. It doesn't matter if you picked it off the floor of a bathroom of a cruise ship or if it came fresh from the national mint.
The aforementioned charms and other items don't vary from one piece to another. I don't know what a "perfect skiller" is and a Chaos claw has variable stats.

Here is the Final Say on this, as I know what is happening. There are 2 kinds of 290's. The only way one can tell the difference is using MH. The difference is the ilvl. The 290s that are poofing are ilvl 90, while the permanent ones are ilvl 99. The 99s i BELIEVE were brought over from Open, and therefore are lacking a special code that tells blizz what the item is, and therefore is indetectable by Rust storm.
However there is a currency change. More people have realized that 32020's are insanely more useful than 290s, so currently 32020's are rising, and its about 2x290 for 3x32020. ATM, 32020s are not poofing. For more crasy info, check out my MH thread i'm making in a minute!
