You can find an soj pretty much from norm diablo onwards. It just depends what type of char you use, and how effective you are. Personally I do hell andy/meph.

Some monsters are definately better for ring drops, and I beleive in the strategy compendium, under miscellanious (spelling?) there is an soj find guide. Basically it says that andy, duriel, summoner, meph and diablo have the better chances to drop. So in otherwords act bosses and summoner. Another ok place is travincal, the council dont have as high a chance to drop rings and stuff, but because there are so many of them, it evens out.

i'd have to go check, but im thinking that in classic its actually impossible for nm andy to drop sojs. her mlvl is lower than it is in expansion. a little research should tell you for sure, forgive my laziness ;)

She is lvl 37 in classic nightmare according to darkness. Can she drop a SoJ. one way I have been getting lots of ppl to join is I make a game called "free stuff1" and then I drop drops I dont need in town I in about 120 games I've found about 10 unique rings.

hey guys I was just wondering whats wrong with my sorc?.
she is lvl 57 and uses orb as her main skill and fireball as a backup.
fireball is at 19 and fire mastery is at 9
orb is at 10 with 8 cold mastery.
466 life 343 mana
resists are at 65 75 70 70
she can do nm diablo runs solo and can rush to the end of nm but I need to get to meph in hell.
when I try to kill andy in hell she has real trouble with zombies and andy takes forever to orb and she dosent stand still long enough to kill with fireball.
I tried to static andy but my sorc dosent last long enough.
can anyone recomend some where other than nm diablo to lvl and what gear I should be aiming for.
also any help with gear handouts would also be neat.

The reason you don't do very much damage is that you arn't focused enough. you can't do fireball and orb and expect to have high damage.

From my experiences, I would say hell andy is your best bet. With a fire sorc with 63+ fcr, teleporting to lvl 4 is easy and andariel dies is about 5 fireballs (lv 75 fb sorc). So far I have found 4 sojs by doing priv game hell andy runs.

What do you think is the best type of Hardcore-Barbarian to make for season 3 ladder?

I plan on making a Hardcore-Barb that can actually survive in Hell Chaos. (I plan on getting up high in the HC LADDER)

If your main focus is surviving/leveling in hell cs....just make a barb with maxed bo, maxed shout, lots in natural resists.

You arent going to be pvming in cs, back in the last ladder season I had a barb who maxed jump (i think) and bascially just stunned all the monsters. Better than just sitting there and leaching, and it actually helps a bit.

Personally, first charactor im going to make in the new ladder season is a chanter ^_^

The barb im making for new season I want to be my main character but I really want to keep him alive, is what I mean. I want to get him really high up in the hc ranks (that means obviously doing hell cs)

Hell CS basically is Hammerdin's giving everyone experience from what I know, and the other char's help but the hammerdins are really what makes the chaos run.

I want a barbarian that can be able to survive + doesnt throw itself out on the front line in hell mode(dangerous) but I also want to help the team out as well. I just dont know what kind of barbarian to make though.

Whats a speed-barb anyway??

For a CS barb, you can help in a number of ways. Firstly try and get very high level battle orders/shout. 2+ barb skill weapons arent hard to find/shop. Beserkers armour, a magical 2+ amulet will go a long way. Try and get max resists, so obviously around 12 on natural resist, then goldskins / whatnot. After boosting a parties life/mana, there are other ways you can help. Warcry stuns enemies in a small radius, which means hammerdins/blizz sorcs have a much easier time killing them, and it also means they cant hit you. Leap knockbacks enemies, which can be usefull too, but i think warcry is the way to go. Im not sure what level to get warcry too. I would try maxing it, but ignore synergies to damage because it is insignificant. Another useful skill is find item. This can help you get godly rares which you can use to set up other characters or accumulate wealth etc. Maybe even use grimward, to scare all the non-unique enemies away?
So for a cs barb, i would recomend:

20 BO
20 Shout
12 natural resist
20 warcry
1-20 find item (im too lazy to look it up, but i think it has severe diminishing returns)
1 battle command, maybe 1 in grim ward.

Then use +skill gear for giving the party battle orders, then switch to resist/block magic find gear for popping bodies and surviving.

Just some ideas :D

I used to have a singing barb, did ok, but the jump barbs always impressed me more. Plus its more fun ^_^

I like the grim ward idea,,,, dont think ive ever even used grim ward....

well i guess maybe it was my fault for it popping
my sorc has this werid thing of + str items. I put a on a +str ring to wear other +str items, then i take off the ring cuz ive got more then enuff str to wear the stuff. I usually dont die, but i was dueling( i was owning them 2 noobish high lvls :D until the quadruple team up) The items just werent there when i picked up my body.

Believe me or not, help is greatly appreciated. A generous person gave me a shard Thx alot dude.

Andy drops the most rings with the best chance of them being magic+.

Try nm andy, or if you're fast enough, hell andy.

Nm Andy cannot drop soj's in classic.

Top 4 droppers of sojs (in classic) = 1. Hell Duriel, 2. Hell Andy, 3. Nm Duriel, 4. Normal Diablo.

I wouldn't say weak. And it's more for entering those duel games where sorcs think they are the uber because they kill a few bvb's.

As for how to make, well get full irtha, hawkmail (when dueling cold sorcs, gskin/good sorc armor with high rez works fine when not), 2 sojs (or two min/max +to dex, plus to ar rings)
godly lance, and some 30fr/w high tri rez boots.

Skills: 20 Mastery, 20 ww, 20 bo, 1 in bc 1 in all your supplimentals, 10 (or so) in increased speed) 10+ in nat rez.

Done right, you have 85% rez to all in hell, 76% fr/w (while wearing light armor) and with a high dmg (hopefully high dura) lance, you have range to boot. Sorcs aren't too fond of you then.

edit: you said ww, not weak.

I got tired of playing classic non ladder USEast so I decided to switch to ladder. Here is my problem. My sorc is a lvl 34 blizzard sorc and she seams to be stuck. I am doing normal mephisto for items and it isn't the funnest of things to do. I am not the kind to beg, but if any one would like to bestow a gift for me I would appriciate any help given, or if you just want to play together.

I just started west ladder this week. I made a hammeradin. I only play him when realm is down on east. I don't wanna do alot of mf and there are a couple items I could really use if anyone has a spare. I hope this doesn't construde as begging.
what I need is a 20 str belt mods don't matter. the reason I want this is because I don't want to put any str into him and I am tired of running around with a face of horror on. hopefully I will find a nice belt later but we'll see.
if anyone has one I can give a ward and steeldriver for it if you want that.

also even if no one has an extra belt I'd like to get some of you westerners account names so I can play with you guys.

I just started d2 classic, been playing LOD a lot and im not too familiar with a lot of stuff so i decided to make a pure orb sorc for mf'ing. Im have a lot of trouble leveling at the moment, only been able to use ice bolt, im lvl 17. Would anybody be able to help me get to level 30 so i can then kill stuff with frozen orb? Hi all. I just finished creating my classic forge rusher and I'd like to give 'er a whirl before I actually start rushing my own chars (don't have the 2nd comp yet). So, instead of doing a dummy run, which would be a waste, I'm offering a friendly hellforge rush, just to see how far I can get and how fast it is.

We can share drops, and if you get an especially high drop, you could prehaps make some change and throw a pul my way or something, but no obligations.

What you do it take turns on runs for getting ALL drops per run. Then there is no worry about being quick, label the games with a number and one guy takes odds one guy takes evens

I'd like to know what type of damage I am looking for when trading GG axes. I know when it comes to Lances, BH's and execs, ppl look for 300+lance/150+bh/200+exec with decent mods. However, I don't know what damage is good for an ancient axe. What are the highest dmg they usually spawn?

a 200 anc axe can be worth keeping if it has yummy mods (3x dura, life or mana steal, high min)

However, for an soj you can get a ~250 anc axe

Or a ~230 w/ 3X dura + nice mods anc axe

a 200 goes for about gull, and 220+ can fetch you a decent rare//a few skins

personally i prefer the lower dmg of most 3X dura pvm weapons, to a reg dura much higher damage pvm weapon (considering uber godlys i cant get)

Only keep a Grim Scythe over 200 damage, I mean honestly for 140 Strength/140 Dexterity who's going to use a 150 damage weapon or lower.

On my Frozen Orber, I don't have any points into any trees other than orb/mast/ice bolt I was wondering if thunderstorm or firewall would be any good, or perhaps just put the points into frozen armor.

If you're using her for MF consider pumping teleport up to max for much reduced mana cost.

Both TS and FW really need fairly high skill levels plus mastery to hit any decent damage, so unless you feel you can easily get high 80's or into the 90's they aren't likely to be so hot.

Also, TS is a pain with number of points needed in pre reqs, if you haven't already gone for ES, its likely a waste.

Yaris with good damage and ias can be very fun (best weapon for fend//2h jabberzon)

Btw guys, fendazons can do pretty good damage, its just that they have to skip dodge/avoid/evade and valk to be viable, and they are very very fragile.

Hi, I've just started classic today (europe ladder) and would like some help creating my sorc. Im going to hit lvl 25 later today (hopefully) and would like a rush up to hell chaos sanctuary when that happens.

Europe SC NL, If you see me on, I usually have time for a ench, use it wisely though, since I won't re-ench. Otherwise I would spend my online time on nothing but enches. My enches last 888 seconds without shrine or BCommand.
Most people seem to get good results using a bow, so make sure you are ready to go(bow,arrows,pots) on a killing spree with a bow once I enched you to get the maximum from the ench. I can also provide a WP to monsters of your level if you want.

does anyone have "mephisto maps"?
Ive read that there are 16versions of the map and they were published somewhere. I know that 40% of the time you go "bottom-center-right" when you start west and sometimes north
and that you go left when you start south (works 50% of the time for me)
also sometimes when you start west you can go north and the staircase is pretty close

same goes for andariel, there are certain things similar, hard to explain for me (maybe screenshots?)
when you start west and the door faces east you should go south, that's the most common for me
AND THEN IN LEVEL 3 ALWAYS GO for the opposite direction
it works for me 75% of the time

but Id like someone smarter to explain it more, or perhaps the maps are not randomized too

Yah, there are a few of us out there on that realm. I've got a near max enchantress, just missing the silks and a 2nd soj. If u buzz by channel 'walk' in the evenings and perhaps the late afternoons, PacificStandardTime, u will catch me. I know of a few other peeps who have them. But honestly, they are all high lvl players, and to meet them, u usually have to join hell games and ask around.

I never, ever visit this help thread, cuz hardly anyone here seems to be Uswest. Then u have to not be HC. There arent many of us, in my opinion uswest is in serious trouble of late.

Yeah, I like to think so. Although I can't remember the last time I traded for something with PS's, I do still gather them, even buying them back if people sell them.
Once every so often, I give them to a friend who uses them to reroll with his 92 nec.
Though he has been on holiday for quite a while now, perhaps (I hope he didn't) he got banned. :(

hmm, if I had known, you could have come with last night. I rushed a m8 of mine from norm act 4 to Hell act 4 and he rushed my new barb from act 1 norm to act 4 Hell. You could have hitched a ride with either.
But I can do yah norm and nm no probs. Won't even need to change chars for it either. :)

I will come back to europe though, playing without items or friends is really iritating

If I remember correctly the actual time to cast blizzard IS affected although the time between each blizzard cast is the same...

It affects the time it actually takes to cast the spell but does not lower the timer. More FCR is generally desired for teleporting anyways.

As synergies to blizz, ice blast does more damage to a single target, and glacial spike does less damage to many targets. A skill calc might be helpful, like this one: http://diablo2.ingame.de/spiel/skills/calc/index.php?lang=en&char=sor

I like glacial spike, personally, but if you're only going to run bosses, then IB might be a better idea.

Is there a Pgem/Pskull to gull ratio? In expansion I remember trading 40 Pgems for an SoJ.

Only way that i would know of someone trading gull for Pgems in classic is if they are an lod player wanting gems that has a classic gull, otherwise i personally would never trade a gull for gems, as gems are pretty much useless in classic except for selling for gold (as well as being easy to come by).

I'd recommend doing act 3 the old fashioned way (no rush). Act 3 won't give much experience single player, but if you join any 5+ person game you can still kill at a decent speed and get very good experience. I'd recommend leveling in the Kurast regions. Maybe you can find a series of cow games to do this in.

funny, but most of us with cow makers, won't make portal, or party those under 20. if they were standing around talking, the game was still full enough for you to run to cat's/tombs to do some killing and reach that lvl 20 threshold. :rolleyes:

from personal experience, and most every written guide on the subject, lvl 20-25 for norm cows (kill or leach whichever is able) and 25+ for nm cows.

there are also supposedly some breakpoints in which character difference can have a dramatic impact on the leaching ability of lower levels. EG when I bring my mid 80s baba in to kill in norm cows, it seems that the lvl 20's don't get as much xp as if there are lvl 30 or so's partied, doing the killing, but this may be a perception issue, as I haven't done any definitive testing of this last theory.

for what it's worth, in regards to your "is everyone on east retarted?" question. you are in fact referring to a 7 year old game, that is predominately played by early teenaged kids, I have found "retarted" game play on ladder, non ladder on west, as well as europe.

I have also heard enough about the PKers and "hot tper's" on HC, that I still don't play that mode.

I am looking to get my level 1 paladin to act 3 hell. Bear in mind i dont intend to exceed level 12 ( can you say low level dueler? :D )
Rushing someone to act 3 hell isn't always the funnest thing to do, i think, so to make it fair, i rush you, you rush me ( only the essentiel end-act quests ).
I can rush normal and nightmare with ease, but hell difficulty could take me a little bit more trouble.

I need both a battle hammer and a gothic bow with nice damage on it. I don't care about the mods at this point. As long as they deal over 120 damage I'll be happy. Can give a batch of uniques such as rattlecage, twitch, magefist, frosties, magies, eye of etlitch, ume's etc or some other usefull rares in return.

Don't really need any material help or something. Just answer a few questions (in my topic and a few here maybe) and friends in-game. =]

First of all, why is Raven Claw so good? I've seen it work amazingly but don't get why. Shouldn't the explosion only do a little bit of damage from the low explosive arrow level? Maybe Fire Mastery but that still doesn't explain it.

And I could use some East/Ladder friends too. :o

with a 1400 dmg chant, it's just spreading that damage around a blast radius.

there by making it good for crowd control.

Uber classic gg lvl 35 chant FTW (w/shrine/bo/sojs/silks/stick/etc)

I poped into a "Chant me plz" game one day and the dialog went something like this:

Nubler: Hi, can you chant me?
Me: Sure
Nubler: Wow I do xxxx dmg now!!! Thnx!
Nubler: I'm going to join a crowed game now
Nubler has left the game
Me: It doesn't last between games... lol

He typed his last line before I could warn him. I can only hope he didn't take his lvl 2x barb solo straight into trav or cs after that. :rolleyes:

im trying to make a pvp lancer around lvl 40-50 with a decent 22x lance
mostly bvs and bva

Yes, that should work. It'll allow you to take full advantage of the 25 dex you get from full Iratha's.

Iratha's gives 65 res all, which, in Hell, puts you on 15 res all, with a potential max of 85 all.
Add to that Hawk, you'd be at 15/30/15/15 fclp with 85/95/85/85 possible (with a partied pala turning on Salvation maybe).
You may want Hotspurs aswell. They are slow, but worth it in the fire res department, giving 45 fire res and 15 to max fire res.
Let's say you get boots with 40 cold and 40 lightning (rather important resists when doing some casterhunting.
You'd be at 15/70/55/15
So for rings, you may want to look for rezzy rings. If need be, 4 different rings, 2 for each of the mainly used resists. So 2 rings with 30 cold res each and 2 rings with 30 lightning res. For fire res you would only need 35 fire res in total comming from your rings.
You cannot have enough cold res, stack it above your max as high as possible.
Same goes for lightning res really, when facing a FoHdin he can take 150% off your res.
You could keep 2 poison res rings in your stash just in case a poison necro wants to play with you, just don't count on those rings seeing much sunlight.

Another gear option would be :
- Deaths Sash
- Blinkbat (Can't beat that fhr. Let's see a fireballer try to keep you locked)
- Rare res gloves or Deaths gloves (dunno why you would need the ias, but the 15 res all is amusing if you don't have anything better)
The rest of the gear is really quite open to your judgement and your wallet. :)
Although 20/30frw boots is a must, because you would be missing the 20frw from Iratha's. It does get compensated a bit by the blink being light armor.
