can i play with my brother on 2 different computers with a LoD cd and a classic cd? without buying a new classic cd?

If you mean playing on bnet, no. That's because bnet checks both your classic cd key and LoD cd key.

im not sure. it should since you dont connect to bnet.

I seem to remember playing classic games over TCP/IP with the same CD Key. The way I did it was I would copy the music file off of the play CD to the Diablo II directory. That way the computer would only check the CD when starting the game. Then, after starting the game on one computer, I would remove the CD from that computer and start it on another.

I think it's lame, but it can be done.

Just buy another copy of the game. What is US$20 these days?

Yes im sure you can over TC/IP I did it a while ago before our other computer broke. you can't do it on bnet though.

20$/hour is a lot :p I work for 8/hour saturdays in a bar, and during holidays I make 14$/hour, and everyone is jealous of the amount of money I get ^_^

So just the same cd if you're in a lan with your brother. I've done it a lots of times when my sister still liked d2 enough to play it in a Lan with me. It works like a charm if you want to play with someone once in a while.
