View Full Version : bowazon: not viable 1v1?
Assuming no gear limitations.
Problems that I can think of right now: gear rely too much on ias, low dmg, slow fcr bp, other chars tele/desync/block...
Any thoughts on this? Perhaps share some videos of your bowa vs others or you vs good bowas.
Let the theory crafting begin.

Bowazons will dominate anyone without block and a mobility spell (teleport, desynch charge). After that you're left with a competitive charecter.

Just a reminder, polls do not work, post and vote, not the other way around

Bowas are cool 1v1. Holyfreeze and decreptify are probably a bowazon's worst enemy and its something they can do almost nothing else. Otherwise with great gear they can be VERY competitive with many builds.
However certain builds can demolish zons, but many characters have their own weaknesses. Off the top of my head: wwsins, mb necro, BvA, es/block fire or light sorc. But again skill comes into factor here, and other chars with hf and decrep will dominate as well.
But gm they are sexy, and at least they can't be sorbed :D. They make great nk'ers too haha...
But zons require very special strategy, uncoventional D2 play. One of the few builds that does less damage, tanks less, can't stun (aside from kb or fhr), and can still beat other characters. Except for vs. bad players, there aren't many things that bowas can easily beat. But they CAN beat many good ones.
P.S. I actually don't understand the poll results. People are voting for builds that bowazons have trouble with, and are not voting for builds that bowazons typically have easier time with (e.g. javazons and hdins...)

I liked your post until u said bowzons have a easy time with javas. Any javazon with a stormshield can walk up to a bowzon and kill them very easily. Only difficulty is when the bowzon can completely desynch, and then it becomes a semi difficult race. Even then unless the bowzon is really good the java should come out on top.
IMO bowzon is the java's easiest duel.
I think that there are only very few individuals on every realm that own with bowzons.
I personally have only met one that was good. And still then any paladin with grief kills them.
PS: duels without teleport = defwhore duels = boring.
I had a bowazon myself it was pretty decent stat wise pure dex about 1k hp 6k ga but anything with block seemed like almost auto lose a good barb can beat you any charger based smiter was seriously a problem. Anything bm using slow was a lose as well.
I think they can be ok but u need extremely good skill and patients and good gear but certain chars will still have auto win over you which is why i scrapped it..
I wouldn't say a Bowa has low damage...with that attack speed, I would actually say it has one of the highest damage outputs in the game, that's why it's good in team duels.

Would have to say trapper.. all the mindblast and traps.

zons are definitely viable 1v1, though they definitely start off with a disadvantage. instead of needing good hotkey skills, you need nice and quick mouse movements.

GA and then throwlock a javazon? Although if you get slowmissiled I guess you get screwed.
But generally a bowazon has better fr/w than a java, so its hard for the java to catch. Although if lag comes up, the zon is insta-dead.
Yes anything without max block is a decent fight, maybe except for bvc and windy. A good telestump with a minion pack and you're dead. A good telewhirl is very hard to dodge, and sometimes ww desync too which is weird.
The only chars that doesn't tele and charge....javazon? fury druid? javas usually do have less frw than a bowa and if you can lock them before they reach your screen you're fine. I've seen maybe 2 or 3 fury druid on east and they are more like builds for fun.
Yes you have superior attack speed and decent damage, assuming if you can keep firing. Against anything that teles you'll most likely spend a good chunck of time running and dodging. You are most vulnerable when attacking, unlike most other chars. Team duels are very different. Obviously you'll be able to maintain that firepower if teamates can protect you.
I think desync is probably a bowa's best way to win a duel. That is why I'm curious to see videos of other chars dueling a bowa.
Everyone has their weaknesses but a bowa's are too crippling in a 1v1 situation. It's very hard to have a winning percentage vs certain chars that are played by people only half decent.
Yea the polls are messed up...and if you click on the results it actually links to another thread about bow druids...

Yea that'd be interesting to see a perspective from the anti-bowzon, but still... I imagine it'd be similar to seeing a desynching hdin or barb.
The main reason bowas do good damage in team duels is because they have a) protection and b) amp or concentration or both c) chars can stun for them.
Btw a non block windy is not so hard. You can lf the pack, usually 1 or 2 at most is good and then GA or strafe em down. Only real problem is how much ravens/hurricane puts you into d/a/e.:flowers:
And nonblock bvcs are do-able as well unless they bust out dooms. The combination of fast attack + knockback makes it hard for bvcs to tele if they miss their tri-whirl. And usually one whirl isn't enough to kill if the zon switched to titans/ss (or lacerator/ss)
