ES damage question

I was wondering if someone could calculate the difference in pvp damage at 95% es with 20 points in tk and 1 point in it. Assume I have 75 res in all calcs for ele hits too please.

the damage you take wont be any different (assuming your mana bulb stays full), but the mana will be hit a lot harder without tk

With no pts in tk your mana takes 2 dmg for every pt of dmg the attack has. ie 1k attack will cost you 2k mana. It breaks even at 16 hard points in tk, and at 20 in tk you only lose .75 mana for every point of damage.

i don't really understand what you're asking. 95% ES will reduce all instantaneous damage you take to 1/20th of what it usually is.

He's asking how the Telekinesis synergy effects the damage taken that is applied to mana. If you have no TK points, you lose 2 mana per damage ABSORBED by ES. If you have 20 TK points, you lose .75 mana per damage ABSORBED by ES. Using ES without TK makes absolutely no sense.

Or is my math completely wrong? Not quite sure how it all works.

Then with 75 res it drops to 765 with 1 in TK and 573.75 with 20 TK? this is not entirely correct. es has 0 res no matter what, so that the 3060 fire dmg would end up being 5905,8 with 1 pt tk and 2295 with 20 pts tk.

this is of course only the damage that goes to your mana.
anything that goes through the es can be reduced by res.

It's like this:

You take an 18K fireball. That's 3000 damage even after PVP penalty. You have full (75%) fire resistance and 95% absorb from ES.

With 20 hard points in TK:
you take 2850 base damage to your mana (that's 3000 * .95). Your synergy points in TK reduce that in a 1:.75 ratio, so you lose 2850 * .75 = 2137.5 mana.
You take the remaining 150 damage (3000 * .05) to your health. Your resistance reduces it by 75%, so you take 150 * .25 = 37.5 damage to your life.

With 1 hard point in TK:
you take 2850 base damage to mana, same as above. You lose mana in a 1:1.9375 ratio. You lose 2850 * 1.9375 = 5521.875 mana. ZOMG!!!
You take the same 37.5 damage to your life.

So I did the math right then. You divided damage by 6 and I multiplied by .17, that's why our damage is a bit different.

Yes. As you see, you can't effectively run ES without the TK synergy...

do +all skills count as points into tk? or do u actually have to put ur base telekenesis to 20 (example: ur tk will then be like 42 depending on ur +skills)

Telekinesis is like all synergies, only hard points count.

In the sorc build section, there's a link to ES explained. It has an exact formula to calculate life and mana damage under all situations.

Absorb comes after resists. It has no effect on your mana loss but will reduce the life loss.

Absorb factors in after resistances, so es won't really effect how the sorb works.
