View Full Version : Melee sorc setup, pvp viable?

I thought out a melee sorc build, and was wondering if this would work well, I'd like opinions.
Dream bone visage
Passion phaseblade
Fort Dusk shroud
dream troll nest
upped blood fists
verdungos/spider (again, not sure)
eth treks
Angelic ring/ammy
raven frost
Str- Enough for gear
Dex- Enough for gear (thinking that the es etc will make up for the lack of max block, since troll nest doesn't have such a high block rate)
Vita- Until I reach decent hp (can anyone tell me around what hp I should shoot for?)
Energy- Rest, for energy shield, without it I don't think it'll help much.
As for skills I was thinking along the lines of:
20 lightning mastery
20 ES
20 Telekinesis
20 enchant (ar boost)
20 chilling armor (def worth it? or are my points better spent somewhere else with one point invested in it?)
1 teleport
1 Fire Mastery
1 Warmth
Was thinking of a tank sorc kind of thing, can some one tell me if this works, and what could be worked on, thanks to anyone who contributes.
Would this work? I know I wouldn't be doing much fire damage, but other than that, does this look viable?
I asked on another site, didn't get much help, all conflicting comments. Any help appreciated.

Oh, small edit, the helm I was gonna replace with a tiara, since it had more fhr and res.
There's a video of someone using a passion-using pvp melee sorc on youtube somewhere but I can't find it. I'm sure it's linked from somewhere in pvp forum though.

I found that one, but doesn't really show skills/gear.. I was looking for help to reach a few breakpoints and advice on how to build it.
I wanted atleast 20 fcr, 86 fhr and 45% ias after the 25% from passion. I wanted to reach these while still having a decent mana pool/ar.
And if anyone knows how to use ES efficiently, I'd like to know how to use it to make a tank sorc thingy.

Oh right.. I remember that video.. It looked cool/fun.
I've been wanting to make one last ladder but didn't know the gear.
We could always ask the person himself on these forums?
What about shiver/chilling armor?
There was a video on the same person showing what shiver/chilling could do.
And it looked like that person had t-storm? Atleast one on it

This is very expensive to make pvp viable. Firstly, you will want max block. Secondly, as far as skills, you're better off IMO going:
20 Light/Fire Mastery, 20 Telekinesis, 20 Enchant, 1 ES, rest in Warmth (which I believe is a synergy of Enchant)
1 ES with + skills is all you need with the diminishing returns. Telekinesis makes it more efficient, but max block is a MUST if PVP.

I've done a few of these melee sorcies with dream and or as bear sorc's
they work very well as a caster killers , zons, sins, sorcs go down hard and fast!
however windies with summon stacking and ca are very hard and anything with a huge Def. Melee sorcs have a hardtime with High defense builds since they naturaly have lowish AR.
on the plus side with 50-70K zeal , when you hit they sure feel it!
pvm they kill faster then any other melee in the game , and rivel any other caster build.

Hm.. I thought sorcs did well against windies because of zeal? Kills the summons and hits the druid in no time.

The person in the video is ThatWasShocking, if you want a more in-depth representation of his build, you should pm him.
Afaik, this is the best equipment for this sorc, and it is rather expensive, so get out your hr mules, if ya want to make it really good.
Dream Helm (doesn't really matter what its in, bone helm types look cool, use something low strength).
Safety Amulet (try to get 10% faster cast rate, +2 sorceress skill levels, 10% increased blocking chance).
Angelics Ammy (for the medium-high ar opponents)
Jewelers Dusk Shroud of the Squid (socket with 4x ber runes) (Why dusk shroud? Its the lowest str req light 4socket armor, you could use one of the normal 4soc ones, they look cooler, but you will run/walk slower).
Passion Phase Blade (Duh)
Dream Tower Shield (A tower shield gives a great %chance to block with a relatively low strength requirement).
Verdungos Hearty Coil (Use this vs. physical opponents)
Arachnid Spiderweb Sash (Use this vs. nonphysicals)
Hsarus' Iron Stay (Use this vs HUGE def opponents)
1x Ravenfrost
1x Angelic (vs. most medium or high def opponents)
1x Bul-Kathos Ring (vs. nonelemental opponents w/o much defense)
1x Sorb Ring (vs. the elementals, most cold ppl are cool with dual ravens)
Bloodfists -OR-
crafted blood gloves, where you look mainly for: Attack rating, **20 ias** (most necessary thing), and ar% (The only reason you would use crafted gloves is really for the 20 ias, a 10ias bloodfist is better in most circumstances for the fhr and life boosts. However, you lose 1 frame on each attack thing, and on some opponents, I would expect the boost is pretty helpful)
Tri-Res boots
Cow King's boots (I like the dex on them)
Hsarus boots (use with belt for more ar)
Inventory:
9x lightning lifers
Rest mana/life scs or life/res scs
Torch
Anni
Stats:
Enough strength for Equipment
Enough dex for max block, or you could go not max block
Rest energy
Skills:
1 pt chilling
20 telekinesis
20 Energy Shield
20 Lightning Mastery
20 Enchant
Rest warmpth
Or use a demon limb to prebuff enchant, or put it where you would have cta, and have the skills go
1 pt chilling
20 tk
20 es
20 lm
20 warmpth
rest fire mastery
Look in the pvp ot thread, you might be able to find a post or 2 about his build (or maybe it was the video thread).
