View Full Version : Cold Vs Fire Facets

Hi All,

I am working on a Blizzard/Fireball sorceress and am thinking about trying to get facets to socket my weapon and armor. This is my first char in a while so I have never used facets before. Does one element benefit more from a facet than the other? I use both skills fairly equally so am just looking for the best improvement. Figured I would try to go for 1 of each unless one benefits significantly more than the other.

on each facet there is one useful and one less useful stat

for cold spell, +dmg > -res
for fire spell, -res > +dmg

which facet do you take ? i'd boost the spell which does the most dmg (probably blizzard in your case)

thats exactly what i thought they are too synergized to be effective without 80+ pts

I agree with this assessment - mostly. The one area where I might potentially disagree is:

1. if you plan your build fully, from top to bottom
2. your skill points are 'stretched' thin,
3. if you have cold facet with -5 Enemy Cold Resistance

If all of these points are true, you can use that knowledge to spare yourself a point in Cold Mastery. Woot!!!!

I ran some calculations days ago to find out Fire does benefit a bit more from facets. Though I, personally would use Cold facets on my Blizzballer, but that's just because I use Blizzard more than Fireball. Cold facets will be more useful if you take them into account. i.e. you calculate an ideal level of Cold Mastery to reach and use them to reach that.
