Assuming that the game does get released at some point and there is a beta test or something, who's in for the fun of it?

I'd be willing to give it a shot and get a group of us going from here.

I'd most definitely sign up for the Beta. Finally something with perspective after HG:L and that other piece of crap.

I would do it.

I would buy it : I would even think twice. I loved all Blizzard games up to date and I don't think they will ever defile their name by releasing a crap game.

I wont beta test though: Or perhaps... If they ask me nicely... :P

I'd do it just to be able to play with some of the forumers that are on other realms than the one I was on/am currently on in DII.

I'd love to Beta Test D3, but I'd be very upset and get myself in alot of trouble if it wasn't using the D2 style of gameplay. >_<

What CC said basically ^^

I would be in, hoping to help contributing with making the game better. I just hope the DIII beta will be something like Mythos where the devs actually listen to the gamers. Posting comments and bug fixes on a forum, and the devs deal with it.

mythos seems to me like DIII

Imo it doesn't. Mythos is much more like WoW with a DIIish way of casting spells and attacking.

I would certainly try it. :wink3:

I'd be in for the Beta as well. The only problem playing Alphas and Betas is that by the time the game is released you're tired of it. That happened with me for a couple of recent games.

Tanooki
10-04-2008, 19:41
Heck yeah I'd test it.

Findux
10-04-2008, 19:44
Of course I would test it. It would be hella fun.

To me Mythos seems kinda unbalanced in some way

If it has even half the longevity its little brother has, that's not a problem though. :afro:

I'm quite sure that if they needed to test a beta version, each individual tester would be assigned a role (ie. test assassin Martial Arts thoroughly through all game difficulties). Otherwise a complete test of all chars in all came areas and difficulties would seem like a task for several months - heck I haven't even tried all the chars seriously in DII yet, and it has been around for 8 years.
And for the game testing to be as complete as possible, alot of testers will be needed. If at all possible, I'd most definately like to be one of them.

*prays that dIII is on the brink of release*

*remembers he is an agnostic*

*prays again*

I would love to do Beta testing for D3... I still play D2 on Battle.Net a lot, and it's still quite enjoyable. If D3 is anything like the rumors say, then it should be one sweet game.

I'd be there, Mr. Gorny. Even if there is nerdy SG-1 roleplaying involved.

So would you be there even if pancakemen were the food of choice for the event?

Pancakemen are not going to be the food of choice. Maybe, I don't know, Froot Loops?

Talking about DIII like this makes the game so real, it HAS to be released now or I'll go nuts. And I'de sign up for beta-testing as well, I'de love to help out making DIII the game it must become, the most awesomest (not a word I know) game ever that is :)

I would have to play. With the time I invested in Diablo, Hellfire, D2, LOD, I feel like I have to play the franchise to the end, and have a good time doing so.

and if "it eventually gets released" I'm gonna try it out ofcourse, no matter what.

I can always return to playing D2

I'd participate in the beta, but I'd probably have to get a new comp, 'cuz I'm currently just running off an old'ish off-the-rack laptop.

Lmao at people clamoring to be part of "the beta process" for a game that doesn't even have a dev team yet. Check back in 5 years. You know, after they hire the team, and complete the Blizzard game design life cycle.

So actually, make that 10 years.

starcraft 2 and WoW will cower from the glory that diablo 3 will bring to the online world

in other words my life will be consumed for another 5 years

I'd be all over a beta. I recently got back into D2 (read: re-addicted myself). As much as I enjoy D2, it gets awfully boring after a while, especially if you're into collecting or MFing. There's simply not enough variety to be had — after a few months you've seen pretty much everything you're ever going to see, and afterward the game seems to become exponentially vapid day by day. I found that I always played D2 in spurts. I would start playing idly, get addicted, have a good 1-3 month run, and then taper off until my characters expired or I uninstalled.

D2's mechanics aren't as good as D1's. Overall D2 is not that great of a game, critically speaking. It's good enough where it counts to be rather addictive. It's a downtime killer that can easily steal your soul. I've some folks saying I should get Titan's Quest from Steam. I may do that, eventually.

Will DIII be an action game like D2 or a more "massive" RPG-type game designed to compete with other such titles on the market? WoW is aging gracefully but Blizzard must be looking ahead...

Edit: this is an unrelated rant: It's not that I don't like MMOs, it's just they're the hardest type of game to "get right". The balancing issues are complicated, not to mention the fact that in MMOs you usually get tyranny on an uncontrollable level which ends up turning off many prospective buyers. The communities are usually incredibly fickle, too. I was in on the Pirates of the Burning Sea beta for a long time with a small group, and the guy who owns our Vent server was in the guild long after I quit. He told me that their entire guild stopped playing because Flying Lab introduced a patch which gimped the Pirate class.

The last MMO I played regularly was EVE-Online. It was rather unique in comparison to most other MMOs in terms of the community — the only real reason to play any MMO in my view. The fact that all 30k-ish average players were on a single unsharded universe had a lot to do with that. Unfortunately, I recently realized that, by in large, the EO community just plain sucks (as do most MMO communities, unfortunately).

So now I'm in MMO limbo. I would play the hell out of a MMO if there were one out there worth playing, but I'm particularly picky about what I pay for, especially if it requires a monthly subscription, and no MMOs seem worth my time or monies at this point. I've been on beta for some more recent MMOs — WHO and AoC in particular — and they're not differentiating themselves enough from previous fare — EQ2, Vanguard, EVE, Tabula Rasa, et al — to seem compelling. I'm looking forward to the upcoming WH40k MMO being hinted at.

I want a sci-fi MMO that's worth a squirrel fart, and by that I mean a sci-fi space-flight simulator that actually makes use of real physics. The biggest issue I had with EVE aside from the shart-tastic community was that it was as far from a simulator as possible.

I played Hellgate for a while, but it was so full of holes & bugs when released that I shelved it and have yet to return. I'm sort of excited for Sacred 2 because I thought the original was decently fun...

One wonders if the folk currently employed at Blizzard will be able to continue the Diablo series effectively given that the vast majority of "spirit" behind the franchise left with the dissolution of Blizzard North.

If D3 was going to be in MMO format, (which I seriously doubt it will, if only for the fact that WoW is currently draining millions of user's money a month already) I wouldn't bother with the beta.

Why pay to play an MMO when you can get instant gratification for free with a number of other games?

Jambe
