Wonder if there will be Hardcore mode.....

Only thing that concerns me is that it will be another monthly fee game.

I hope there will be a hardcore mode, but it should be different. Like some hardcore-unique uniques, better drop rates for all things, and no iron maiden. And an awesome uniclass hardcore-set would be cool.

That seems to take away the whole point of hardcore - being able to do something better than everyone else. Making it easier means takes away from that.

It would be nice if there were Hardcore only items or quests, but I think they'd have to up the difficulty in order to make it viable. Many of the HC veterans routinely clear the game with untwinked characters and I know of a few who haven't lost a character this patch, much less this season.

have a Hardcore mode, make it a place that's truly challenging (like some of the Hell Unleashed mod stuff) and give high rewards for surviving. I feel that would encourage solid teamplay, which can only be good for the game as a whole.

Cheers

Adding advantages to Hardcore completely defeats the point of Hardcore. And if they did have special items for HC players, all the SC players would be saying "Why can't you allow those items for us?" And rightly so...

I agree. The benefits of HC play should be the difficulty(I don't think the game is quite tough enough as it is.) Giving hardcode uber weapons would/could turn it back into easy mode quite easily. But if it really was INSANE mode, then increased drops/stuff might balance out the deaths that WILL happen. The balance/imbalance continuum, eh?

I`m not saying to make Hardcore overpowered, I`m saying that I`d like Hardcore to be hard. If that means unlocking additional quests (such as making the Ubers or something HC only) and giving high status items as a result, so be it. If it means simply making a more difficult game so you can`t just breeze through Hardcore, that works too.

I personally think the Ubers wouldn`t have been a bad choice as an HC only area, because it would have given it an additional measure of status. Who would be willing to repeatedly throw high-level Hardcore characters into Uber Tristram after the first few groups got massacred. Without SC players who could keep dying over and over till they figured out the correct approach, it would have kept its mystique a lot longer, which would have kept it as an actual high-end goal - as opposed to a fast leveling system, which is what its broken down to now.

they need to give a real penalty to death in softcore mode--forcing EVERYONE to not be retards--i don't want to have to sink another 6 years into the next game before I'm ready to play hardcore

Pssh, you`re honestly saying you`d go back to softcore for d3...

I thought I knew you...

I'd stay HC, and just take the losses. Mind you not easily, but I would put up with it. (Just better not be no FE type things)

Having HC only item would be cool, but it doesn't mean they would have to be powerful, but maybe just cosmetic or something, like say changing the color of an item or the likes after doing a quest or something.

You underestimate the patience and resilience of HC players...

As long as they don't implement a boss where everyone in the party needs to die to kill them (think EQ has one) we'll be just fine thank you very much.

it would have to be faster levelling than your typical MMO otherwise not many people would be into it

Reminds me of WoW quests where you need to be dead to see the quest giver or quest target.

It would suck to get a high level like in WoW (I hear it takes AGES) then die from a slip up. In D2, if you do bite the dust (still happens to veterans) you can in a way reach 85 again in like 3 hours.

But yes, don't underestimate us HC players.
