If D3 is announced...realistic release date idea

Hey guys-

I am just thinking about precedent here and the way blizzard works, they keep their games secret and then release the info when they are MODERATELY close to being completed. Examples of recent: WotLK (WoW exp), and Starcraft 2. Both are due out sometime this year and were announced less than a year ago. So if Diablo 3 is announced in a 5 weeks, Wouldn't it be safe to assume that it would be released sometime in 2009?????

Yeah the trends seem to strengthen the idea that it will be released in 2009 (if it is announced in 5 weeks time from now). Anyways, waiting for more than one year still feels like a long time!

Wouldn't they be able to release right on the 10 year anniversary of D2 if they released in 2009? That would be sorta funny. Though I honestly can't see Blizzard ever getting a release set for such a specific date. They tend to call a project done when they feel like it's done. Not when they feel like it's the best time to release.

True they dont like to set the exact release dates, but again im calling it that WHATEVER the new game is, it is released before the year 2010...if they did it on the 10 year anniversery that would be awesome.

Seriously how rude would it be if blizzard announced D3 and then made us wait like 5 years! haha talk about a kick in the cahoneys

The official word came almost exactly a year ago, so we might be looking at a late 2009 release IF we get the good news this summer :cloud9:

diablo 3 is problably long away still. with wow still going strong and with starcraft 2 in the works it seems lika an overkill if they would start on diablo 3. but that it will come i have no doubt about.

Exactly, and with WotLK coming out, DIII seems to be miles away, assuming that Blizzard won't release it until they've pumped all they can out of the WoW franchise. I doubt DIII won't be announced until 2009, when the next Blizzcon is (I think) and a release in 2010

there is serioulsy no reason they cant successfully have a new WoW, SC, and Diablo game all within 1-3 years of eachother. Blizzard has such a history of success and credibility that these games will be successful even if they are in conflict of eachother. Also, Blizzard wouldnt be losing money.

WoW currently has 10 million subscribers.
Diablo 3 is released
WoW currently has 8 million subscribers
Diablo 3 currently has 6 million subscribers

Stupid example especially of D3 isnt P2P, and it prob. isnt a realistic number, but i just think this isnt too "out there".

It isnt like Blizzard is going to lose money if they release Diablo 3 :-P

That is not the question. They know that they would make a lot of cash with a Diablo III game. But, they want to maximize that profit... and the profit of WoW and SC2. And I wouldn't be admired if they announced Diablo 3 some 2 to 3 years before realesing it. So, I don't see it coming out soon.

exactly!! so WHENEVER they announce it we can expect the game to come out sooner rather than later after they announce it instead of making people wait
