Third page in, bottom left shot. Two paladins in that screenshot. They look very similar to what the original pallies wore in Diablo II when they were started. Green pants and a brown leather tunic.

Edit: Also on the second page, top centre image.

Awesome spotting! Nice find.

EDIT: Wait, could it be a merc? My friend seems to think so.

Nevermind. They are mercenaries. I thought the 2nd page screen was a nice find, but the one you mentioned on 3rd page has 2 paladins who look exactly the same, wearing the same armor as the archer merc.

See I think they are pallies. Same basic items would equal same appearance. The reason being, when the gameplay movie is shown, the barb picks up a few archer mercs.

Those paladins are the only "player" character there. If they were mercs there would need to be a barb or witch doctor there.

First three classes: Paladin, Barb, Witch Doctor. :D

You could be right, I just don't know if the exact carbon copy thing holds up true. While basic armor in the beginning does indeed look the same, every single piece of equipment they are wearing is identical.

Either way, good find.

I think these are just NPCs. The archer(s) that stand close to the two *alledged* paladins have very similar gear (chest and helm for example).

The reason that there is no central player character visible is that this is a promo screenshot.

They do indeed look very similar to how the paladins started in Diablo2, and that is exactly the reason why I think they are not player controlled characters.
It isn't bad to remake some parts of Diablo2, but when it would be a blatant copy of it, it is a different matter. What I mean by this is that it's fine to have paladins, but it is not fine to have paladins that look exactly as they did in starting gear from D2.

That said, I doubt paladins will make the conversion to D3. And I liked playing the paladin, so I'm not saying this because I don't want them in.

Those are definitely NPC's. Guards of some sort. I expect the playables to be far more detailed. These look too generic.

Since we're on the topic of mercs, I wonder if we'll get to equip them in D3. I had fun giving them spears ect in D2, they were my favorite pets.

Remember how "generic" your starter pally looked though?

I definitely think the central character, the guy with the sword and a shield is a paladin-type class character, at the earlier levels of the game (hence the "generic" gear).

The two archer dudes are his mercs. this seems to be the best possibility.

I was thinking that the paladin is a mercenary. just like the rogue, sorceror and warrior from Diablo I were mercs in Diablo II, maybe some of the Diablo II characters will be mercs in D3. this would allow for inclusion of amazon as a merc. (i really doubt Amazon will be character class because of the class-gender choice but maybe will appear as a merc)

I think the archer is the PC in picture 5/29. If he was an NPC he wouldn't be standing there idle with so many enemies around and while the "Paladins" are in combat.
