I don't want to talk about Diablo 3's PvP with smelly softies who think that builds that kill in less time than it takes to exit the game are any good ~_~
Besides, they said they didn't want to discuss PvP at all yet, but they said they don't see why HC wouldn't be an option, so it seems logical we get a brand new forum to spam up.

I hope that PKing remains an option.
Perhaps segregating us into 4 character types (sc/scpvp/hc/hcpvp) types, though I'd rather it be set up just the way it is. Nobody dies to monsters, it's not really HC unless there's players out there hunting too ^^

well you don't have any responses yet, so I'll be the first
you're preaching to the choir here man
it's the same reason that one of the only mmo's out there that I've been watching for is Darkfall
and why I laughed at my buddy who got Age of Conan to play on a non-pvp server =P
ah the irony, the world of Conan the barbarian, filled with carebears, it's just sooo... wrong
apologies for the OT, but it's 6am here =P

have they actually come out and said that hard core will be in it? AFAIK theyve just said that it is a possibilty.
What are you talking about?
That part of the WWI talk went like this:
"Will there be hardcore mode?"
*perplexed look*
"I can't see why we wouldn't support it."
If anything that's something to be rejoicing about!
Seems like they'll have HC, which is definitely something to rejoice about. Without the fear of death D3 would be way too boring to hold my interest
You guys planning to rush straight in with HC chars from the get go, and learn about the fairly inevitable equivalents of stuff like MSLEs, FELEs the hard way? Or feel around a little first on SC to get to grips with the threats and character setups, speeding up the learning process with some casual recklessness. It'll be the latter for me I think.

What's your point? I think the OP's point was that Blizzard should give us the option of a Hardcore mode.
HC discussion goes in the wish list/suggestion forum for now? I could make another forum, but it seemed pointless to put HC up already how would talking about d3 now be any different when it's all hypothetical? Or is it more about sorting the people who are in the forum, rather than the topics discussed therein? ;)

Uh, actually it was a question rather than a point, to the HC players who have posted in/are likely to read this thread. I assume I'm not the only person who plays SC and HC and I'm certainly not the only person who initially started with SC before moving on to mainly playing HC.

Assuming my friends online are still gaming at the time of D3 (certainly possible) and that the game by default starts you off as Softcore and lets you move onto Hardcore after completing the game once this is my current plan...
1.) Get a group together, with as many HC regulars as I can
2.) Tear through the game once, create Hardcore characters and never look back.
I know that myself (and my friends I feel comfortable to speak for) would rather explore the game and test our boundaries with a risk than to become *shudder* Softcore players. With our group this ladder reset, we beat the game and last our first character at lvl 85, and without teleport getting them back up and running within a day through a team effort of 11 people. I'd love to get something like that going in D3, though hopefully the game will be longer and harder so that team spirit can truly come to the fore.
I'll definitely be playing HC as soon as it's available to me. If that means I have to play SC through first, then by god I'll play SC first.
@Flux: They did say HC was being considered. I think it was in an interview IGN had with Rob Pardo.
just adding my voice to the choir...
Can we have one? Can we? Can we? Can we?

:whistling:
there's no real point yet, we can't discuss strategy, we can't match up, we can't alert each other to bugs...
what would we talk about?
True, then again, we also already have a PvP/Pk forum, whilst there is nothing to discuss here either ;)
Not true Barry. We get to have flame wars over the classic PK vs No-PK arguments about a game that we can't play yet.

I don't think it'd be wise to discuss the PK mechanics of Diablo III after it's release because the chances of the community persuading Blizzard to change anything that funamental, at that time, would be close to nil. It's much better to discuss it now while the game is still in development. We need more material to work with though.

Llamas, Wesley Snipes, and Bananas?
Always good topics Mousey, though we can't forget the ever witty banter about Coffee and my Mother.

Oh, I'm sure they'll have HC in the game, and hc is all I played for about 3 years on the realms so I certainly hope they do it again, but I'm asking what point a hc forum would serve at this early stage? How would you discuss features differently than you can now, w/o a special hc forum? which is why I figure the desire is more about having a special hc-club for d3 chat, rather than that there's some level/subject of discourse that can't be engaged in now.
And no, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Yar, you're right. I'd like an HC forum too, but not right now. We don't have anything HC-specific to talk about other than "Man I sure hope there aren't any bugs along the lines of MSLE!". When the time comes then sure, an HC forum is necessary for discussing builds & stuff.
Edit: And to be elitists. Can't forget about the HC>SC elitism.

Busted ~_~
....Which is enough for me. We'll get a HC forum, and we'll be happy. Untill that time I'm back at DII.

From everything I've ever read Blizzard rather liked the way they implemented HC in Diablo ii. The hacks & cheats "ruined" it. I wouldn't be at all surprised (nor disappointed really) if they implement HC pretty much the same way. I used to favor the option of making a game "PK'able" or not when you set it up, but that would essentially remove it from the game. Just fix the hacks and cheats and you fix HC. Problem being they weren't able to do that with D2 really, maybe they'll be able to with D3. Here's hoping!
