DIII simply would not be the same if it did not have the infamous secret cow level... and I must admit, I think it would be amusing if there were a few other demonic farm denizens (come on, you know you want to beat on a 32 foot tall demonic pig...)

Demonic pigs, heiden chickens, brute ducks, elite milkboy.

I could enjoy that :scratchchin:

But they shouldn't say how to get to the secret cow level or even mention it as of yet. Just say 'no' in every interview and let the legend live on!

Ow, and they should include the ghost of Wirt. I miss the bloke.

Nah, the secret cow level was only funny once, the joke had history. Its balance was also pretty much totally screwed through 1.09.

The natural follow up for D3 would be The Secret Chat Gem Level.

Bliz already said there will be similar easter eggs in D3 what exactly no one knows yet....

Demonic pigs, heiden chickens, brute ducks, elite milkboy.

... invisible horrifying cats, hughe cruel Guineea Piggy, angry buldogs or smashing flying pumpkins, all of those in "The Secret Crazy Animals Level".
Yeap, it would be thrilling.

I think Cow Level was a good one time joke. Considering it was an april fools joke during development of Diablo 2 it had a nice history behind it. I'm sure eventually in Diablo 3 there will be a fun easter egg zone of a different nature that people won't know about until at least a year after release.

I'd pay to see that.

i hope it's not a huge part of the game, just some place you check out as long as it's amusing. (i.e. no "i cow u" games)

Well the Cow level comes from the fact that the cows in Diablo sometimes made strange sounds when clicked a few times. What I´m tring to say that the cow level was an issue allready before the making of Diablo II.

My ideas for a cow level replacement:
1. Secret Reziarfg Level.
2. Isenhart's Wrath. You gotta wonder what happens to all those green breast plates everyone throws away... Just imagine it, a vast army, every single soldier decked out in a full Isenhart set. And if you want to add to the "Why are there so many of these?!" factor, make all of them Hammerdins too. :D

I think reziarfg, standard of heroes and chat gem are the most prevalent d2 myths/mysteries, along with xp stealing from meteors/summons. They've all got decent easter egg potential imho. Duck level would be awesome, but it's a running joke rather than something popularly believed.

maybe secret chicken level, since that was a pretty big running joke on here. The one where people were chasing chickens to the rogue punk, and killing her w/ the chicken near so they could pop an anni! That was a good one.

edit: there was a secret chicken level in DungeonSeige. you could get this insane chicken shooting gatling gun in there.

it was kinda cool. pity dungeonseige sucked balls compared to D2 though.

Secret penguin level, with that purple penguin that was on the splash images.

I don't care what it is, but I hope they have the equivalent of a secret cow level so that people can be rushed and leech experience to level quickly.

That was one of the best parts of DII. The game sucked without it.

Or even better - considering that Über Tristram is (or seems to be) hardly a challenge, and even Diablo clones (like Titan Quest) feature some 'secret' levels (i.e. it is not something special today) - how about taking some inspiration from modders?

And I am talking about (infamous) Zy-El and its (infamous) insanity levels Killing Grounds, Suicide Sanctum, Wayside of Woe and Orifice to Oblivion.

Or at least there could be more challenging levels/quests like Über Tristram - something to keep high level chars on their toes.

Though I guess Blizzard is already planning something in this style (WoW raids come to my mind).

I'd like to see a secret cow boss, not millions of cows, just a single massive cow king that'd dwarf the huge monster in the game play video.

and all you could see was his enormous hoof on the screen, then you climb up him "Shadow of the Colossus" style.

If the level will be another secret comic map, then I'd prefer it could be accessed easily and completed without experience or drops. Why? Because its purpose would be an easter egg and not a popular place where to MF or fight. Maybe at the end one could obtain a funny or declared useless prize (like item personalization or the standard).

The chicken farm would be right as a cow level sequel, but I love the single-massive-monster-hoofs and the Isenhart's-Wrath-useless-items-cemetery idea .
Maybe we'll be able to open the portal with that evil chat gem (/drop chat gem LOL)

If the secret level will be serious instead, I'd like great rewards like in Uber Tristram. I'd prefer harder quests to even open the portal, so less people would know that.
As was suggested elsewere, I'd also like a "hall of the heroes" for the best players who managed to won it. This way also the secrets would remain hidden a bit more probably (so noone would have to reveal it just for proof).

I agree. It always irked me that the cow level became a leveling ground in hell because it was so consistent (no pesky MSLE or physical immunes). It got to the point that the lightning sorceress became rare, as cows were immune (which is a bit ridiculous). It's clear to me through the addition of act V guest monsters in nightmare and hell that there was a push to make endgame areas where the experience was good, very inconsistent and challenging, which the cow level kinda subverted.

I'd really like a cow-level equivalent. I even know which one.

Do you all remember the Duriel Bug Squishing "secret level". That if you squished all the bugs that came out of duriel's corpse and in the side room (followed by a variety of different suggestions involving the Horadric cube and a book of TP) that you'd go to a secret bug level?

I can't even count the number of times that I tried to squish all the bugs and find that level.

You're doing it wrong, you have to use the chat gem as well ;). Still can't resist, lol.

Hahaha, the Chat Gem. Yes, I forgot about that. Naturally it should be a part of the new mystery.

Or perhaps its own unique socketable gem.

Nukeman8

easy when you think about.
should take ages to get to and involves alot of items.
Step 1: complete a new socketable quest in D3 giving you 3 sockets in an item.
Step 2: acquire isenharts armour socket it with the quest mentioned before hand.
Step 3: click that damned chat gem until it explodes and drops out, socket it in isenharts
Step 4: Squish 1 of duriels bugs, squish it into another socket.
Step 5: Grab hold of a hammerdin then proceed to lob one of his ears off, also insert.
Wouldnt be complete without putting it into the cube along with a standard of heroes and a TP.
Go to tristam and stand exactly where wirts corpse was.
Click transmute and it makes a new rainbow portal, inside is uber farm.
The cows have learnt their lesson from D2 and now stand all around the portal halberds at the ready.

*edit forgot about the last boss
Cain, if he catches up with you, you become paralzye and are forced to "stay away and listen" to his rambles. Your d3 screen becomes non alt tabable and your powerbutton disabled.
