ooo yes the fire is on me now... lol
Seriously, why not just create a wide assortment of cool skills and throw you out into the cruel and unforgiving world? (Besides the difficulties this would create for the programmers)
Would some useless builds emerge? Sure. Would some people intentionally play the stereotypical warrior/rogue/mage setup? Absolutely. Would there also be some people that would create some wicked awesome hybrid builds that kick some serious ***? Without a doubt. And that is why I one day hope to see it. I just wont be holding my breath anytime soon...

Do you mean all chars will look the same and have like 150 skills?
Sound as impossible as it boring-looking.

no no no... you would have to be able to customize your characters look for this sort of thing to work properly. As I said, it would be a serious problem for programmers to do, but it would be awesome if or when they managed it.
I would actually love to see that as well, the only problem I see is that builds will eventually emerge from this setup anyway. I.e. people will publish their findings in the form of online guides allowing other people to form their characters in the same way, specific names for these builds will begin to circulate defeating the initial purpose as a whole
although I wouldn't mind a teleporting, smiting, wind druid:scratchchin:

lol, as I said, standard classes would no doubt emerge, but it would add variety to duels if you didnt quite know what your opponent had up his or her sleeve...

How bout a Zealot with the Druid's Armageddon falling around him:nod:
God I can't wait for D3
it seems like a cool idea, but im gonna have to say it cant work, for PvP at least. What i mean is that you never will know what you are up against, sure thats kinda cool but its also really annoying, imagine a duel vs an assa, she is WW traps or kicksin
knowing that you can devise a plan against her, and she against you. This makes dueling funner imo.
but with this idea you might be expecting a fireball and get a ww in your face
hope you get what im trying to say :P

yeah no I get what you are trying to say, but I am a big advocate for realism. I would LOVE the uncertainty that this would bring to a game (and obviously it would cater more to people like me; you would ultimately have to develop a broader defensive structure to succeed... brute force would not necessarily work)
