I would like to see achievements in game in D3.
To those who are unfamiliar, basically a track record of your exploits in a particular game. They seem to be adding them to WoW with the new expansion and they've been a prime feature of Xbox LIVE for a while now. They're generally browsable by everyone so everyone can see what you've done.
Also, people familiar with Mythos would tell you it adds a bit to the game as the achivements are per-character but you can equip them to give your character a slight power boost (like 5% more damage or +5 stamina).
So theres a lot of questions that could be answered:
Would you like to see them on as character tied or account tied? (note: I prefer account because it opens the achivement list up more to more extravagant achievements that you may not want to do with every character but want everyone to know you did them, and D2 is all about making multiple characters.)
Should achievements affect the game at all, or should they just be a list that people can browse? (I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes because it would be cool if people could see them)
Now, if they're going to be more than a list, should they be visual only or should they make your character more powerful? (Personally I think visual only is least potential for some type of abuse, but would still give other people the "oh wow you've done THAT?!?" reaction. Examples would be changing the color of a skill from blue shaders to red ones, giving your character a glow, symbolic items etc. There's a lot of possibilities.)
Potentially the downside to achievements would be increased development time slightly (though it shouldn't be too difficult to add at least a very rudimentary system of achievements).
Anyhow, what are your thoughts?
