View Full Version : Death Knight class?
How about a melee necromancer. Knight with undeads on his command and dark and blood magic too boost his fighter and caster abilities? With two-handed sword or (war) scythe if personal items come back (i hope no).
I am sure that there are some warriors of Rathma or maybe Traq'oul believers?
Personally i found paladin a boring class too play so i would gladly try class from other side.
What do you think?

P.S. Don't bother with poll text in () i put it on no special purpose ;).

I love the idea of a summon/melee class, but calling it a "death knight" seems kinda out of place. No idea what it would be called, though.
Melee summon hybrid? It's called a druid.

i Garrenty (sp?) 100% blizzard wont use the name deathknight if they make a concept similar to this. Reason: this fall an expansion for WoW is coming out, and the major selling point, a deathknight class.

I don't see your point and i will take undeads or demons minions over nature animals any day but i would like to see shapeshifter druid once again

I see your point but other way they used witch doctor which looks like his w3 comrade so... and i am not good with finding names call this knight as you wish... black knights, Traq'oul knights etc.
Would be a cool class to play. Would fill out the alternate melee and necro spots. On another note, anyone else get this forum bug that when you post in a poll it then takes you to a different poll? The poll at the top will be from the first thread but the posts are a different poll.

always.

Your loaded poll implied a 'death knight' wasn't a rehash.
Ask a player whether they'd like class x to be in D3, with no implied disadvantage to the player, just a 'free' extra class, isn't particularly productive. Asking whether they'd like class x to be in D3 more than class y is more interesting, but only when class x and y are equally conceptual or otherwise, or a vaguer poll of how many classes in D3 should be rehashes or all new?

I'm okay with nothing being rehashed, but existing players should not have to look very far for something that suit their styles. If by death knight you mean playing as 'evil' classes, that's not such a bad idea. Oblivion Knights anyone?

There is no "free" extra classes because as F.A.Q. state there is only 5 spot and 2 already taken so you cannot talk this way. You cannot ask people if they would prefer x than y because there are different tastes it's better to ask if they like to play x char and see how many people would like to play or what they think about this char.
You should have skewed the poll more:
Death Knight (" I want dark, powerful and new! Kill enemies to get stronger!")
Paladin ("I want the boring, old and weak paladin back")
The poll you posted is pretty silly. The concept for the character (playing something evil) would take a lot of stretching to get it into the game.

Paladin ("I want the boring, old and weak paladin back").
i for one hope Blizzard doesn't think the D2 pally is "weak".
i wouldn't mind at all if the pally got binned completely.

I love it. The evil pala with the brand new skill "Hammer of Death".

ekhm...

and by the way you call necromancer evil?
What if this character was a member of the Knights of Khanduras (http://diablo.wikia.com/wiki/Knights_of_Khanduras)?
He/She could be either one of the last, uncorrupted remnants of King Leoric's Knights or perhaps a corrupted knight that was saved or converted. In the first case he/she would be similar to a paladin but rougher around the edges after having his/her order wiped out. In the second, he/she would be more like the death knight described in the OP, basically the Black Knights from the first Diablo. In either case, that would give the character a long and interesting history stretching back to the events of the original game.
In terms of skills, if we're thinking in DII terms, one tree would obviously be combat skills, the next could be a mixture of buffs (auras?) and debuffs (curses?), and the third could be a hybrid of the necro's P&B and Summoning trees (leaning more toward P&B as the Witch Doctor is probably the big summoner). Essentially this character would straddle the roles of the paladin and necromancer, being a party support character, capable of some crowd control and with a blend of physical and magical combat skills effective at close to mid range.
Btw, the first poll option, "Yes(, more enemies i kill stronger i will be.)", is kind of a silly since isn't that true of every class?

We'll have a damned hammer skill that shoots out black hammers counter-clockwise that deals dark magic and has 200% dmg to dark monsters, hence making 1 monster in 1 area imuune to it, in the whole game :whistling:
...
Very good ideas. Knights of Khanduras would be excellent choice.

I was thinking of something like "xx% chance that killed enemy will be revive as Black Knight servant" spell :D, but i know that (...) are silly so don't bother with them if could remove them now i would do it :(. Important is yes and no answer :).
Of course gooid ideas are welcome too :)

I actually think that'd be a kind of cool idea to have as maybe an expansion class. Sort of like a "Dark Paladin" type class. Maybe have them focus on all attack and regular paladin-type characters mostly have defensive moves...

What a skewed poll.
The idea of an evil class is a bit ludicrous - Necromancer wasn't enough? But the concept has some validity as far as a melee necromancer goes.
Of course, I'd never give the paladin up for it, which is one of the most fun and most played classes in Diablo 2 (second only to the sorceress).
For me pall was the most boring char when d2 came out, bad design with tons of useless skills, synergy patch change this a little but well what they were thinking when they make char with 20 auras but you can have only one active in time? (Fanaticism all the way...)
What is with this "evil" word. Calling necromancer evil = i do not know diablo 2 lore... shame.
Anyway time will show what rest of characters are and i hope it will be sooner than later.
On another note, anyone else get this forum bug that when you post in a poll it then takes you to a different poll? The poll at the top will be from the first thread but the posts are a different poll.
It is a software bug we're hoping will be fixed in an upgrade to vBulletin.
Post first then make your vote. That way you won't comment in the wrong thread.

Better to have something than nothing at all. Nothing wrong with a slightly corrupt individual flash off his power. Maybe he's selfish, but not crazed evil like those ugly cultists.

Surprised more people didn't point out that Necromancers aren't evil. Yes, they're covered in bones and summon the undead. That just means they're creepy, not evil. As for the Death Knight idea, the concept is ok, although I sincerely doubt they would ever call it a "Death Knight" since Death Knights are already a big part of Warcraft. And if they did include a class like this, I suspect they would also just be creepy instead of overtly evil.
