I've watched the gameplay video a couple times and it appears that the loot names off the two bosses was purple in color. Any one else see this?

Could care less. It makes sense avoiding having 2 colours as similar to each other as rare and unique in d2 though and purple is a decent option.

We know that blue is used for echanted items. I think that purple simply is magic (which is blue in Diablo II). Because there were so many purple drops in the gameplay video, it cannot be epic.

Maybe the items were actually blue in the video, but appeared purple because of tint issues? Just throwing this one out there.

*cough* But seriously, purple seems a good colour. You want something that's not normally in the game so it stands out to you.

Who are all these fools arguing against Rainbows in Diablo? The game's items are based entirely around colors of the rainbow.. sheesh.. everytime u open ur stash.. you see the RAINBOW!!

red items= broken
orange= crafted
yellow/gold = rare/unique
green = set
blue = magic
violet = darned if i know? quest items?

violet is the obvious answer.. its the only color they havent used so far...

and you thought ROYGBIV was something you'd never use.
I just couldn't bloody read what the violet items 'said' cause the shade was too dark and gloomy ;)

I agree. All loot must remain black. All items are black. Your character, black. All creatures, black. :crazyeyes:

The color code in D2 was sufficient. I wouldn't change it.

Yes and the game will be called "just swing and hope you get lucky" :whistling:

Yeah.. Everything being black isnt that great of an idea..

I would be searching every dropped item i saw to see if it was anything special. And chances are that it isnt.

I once clicked on a fire resist shrine and then had some rare boots drop that somehow got bugged by the shrine giving them 15% to max fire res except they were in fact Hotspurs,I have a better monitor now.
