Plz have attribute layout like wow meaning you don't adjust them, they are already set,and just increase, somthing like that...

Guild Wars Refund points
I plan my characters and if my attribute is'nt the same number i want,i'll remake the whole character over

Gamer just throwing in my 2$<----I'll pay 60$ for Diablo 3

Is there a monthly fee to Diablo 3?

I doubt the attribute distribution is set. That will render quite a bit of fun builds impossible to do. ;) I liked my no-vit sorcs. ;)

If Attriubutes are unset and not refundable , I will simply not play Diablo 3 or buy it for that matter

I was a big fan of d2 , unset and not refundable were the only issues I had with the game, back in the old days you could max 5 skills by the time you were 99,i planned every skill point...but who wants to meet the requirments for Grandfather sword or Windforce when they may never own 1

Sorry, I don't have any clue what you say here.
Attributes: Strength, Dexterity...
Skills: Frozen Orb, Revive, Shadow Clone...

By 99 you have maxed 5 skills, correct.
You don't have to use all attribute points the second you get them. My necro hasn't set most of his points. At lvl 25 or so he has like 100 unused Attribute points. ;)

And another thing this stat discussion is just like the new potion system, the new dropped item, it makes it funner by the way it looks. its new implenention that makes remakes better than those that came before |Set Stats or Refundable|

why would you want to limit players in what they can create? in your system the sorcs would get mostly energy added to thier stats, i have made sorcs with out adding a single point to energy. your system would make the diablo franchise take one huge step backwards

Stats and skill choosing was a major factor in character and game diversity for Diablo 2. I would hate to see that go. Besides if you screw up your points there will be a respec option.

Worst idea ever. I hate how on a lot of games you can't assign your stats. Just makes characters too similar and gives players less options.

I think refundable points are the way to go.
Guild Wars has a somewhat similar points system and you can go from a smite monk to a heal monk to a protect monk in seconds with refundable points.

The one thing that really aggrevated me about D2 was the point system. Even if you put all the points in all the right places what if they nerf the build that you play as? Or what if you'd like to experiment with different builds? You'd have to start from scratch with a brand new character.

I just started playing again yesterday after taking a 3-year break. I got tired of re-rolling new chars because my previously-powerful main chars were nerfed into becoming lvl 90+ mules.

Diablo3 looks like a good game so far, but if it's a non-refundable point system I'm gonna pass.

I dunno, the permanent-point system of Diablo and Diablo 2 seems here to stay, albiet with the more or less confirmed aspect of respecializing (at least that what I assume "respec" means).

I think I like the way it was in D2, it added to the replayability of the game, as you could play the game not just 7 times (as each class, including LOD) with a different gameplay experience, but many times more with each build for each class. Imagine if you were playing an averger paladin, you get to act two, and are able to pull out all of your skill points, dump them into holy bolt and sanctuary, and tear apart all the undead without batting an eye, and switch into a zealot when you want, etc. It feels like you'd only be getting the easy parts of each build. It feels good when I can compromise and keep a whirlwind barbarian alive around oblivion knights, and stick with the build I've made.

I've never had the experience of having a build that I've dedicated time to nerfed though, I hope Blizzard keeps that to a minimum (lots of play testing for balance, please!). I can imagine it's quite frustrating (probably for many, as popular builds are often the first to get 'rebalanced').

To the original post: I'd like to see my stat points be firmly within my control. If I want a necromancer with 225 strength who uses Immortal King's Stone Crusher to thwack Baal, I should be able to at least try. The freedom granted by player controlled stats allows lots of crazy builds (and prevents casters from having points auto-sunk into energy, the black sheep of attributes).

A happy medium would probably be a differently colored button the stat page marked "Auto-distribute" that would put them where the developers think they'd go best. Maybe even have a checkmark in the options menu for it, so you wouldn't have to hunt down the button.

I'm sure the developers try to accommodate as many people as they can, I just don't know how much call there is for auto-set attribute points.

I think this topic is purely going to be decided by what Blizzard sets to be the end game of D3. If it's reroll lots of characters, then I see no reason you can't put points where ever you want. If you want 1000 str and 10 vit, have at it. However, if the end game is going to be more involved, through PvP or some sort of PvE grind, then in order to support the new Blizzard "we cater to casuals" motto, I'd suspect they'd put in a fixed system. This is why WoW has fixed stats per level, they saw the people were grossly skewing their characters and thus unbalancing the game.

I would like to see the elixir system come back to give people something to play for once max level and to allow long term adjustments to stats if needed.
