Sry if this is already known but i've seen tons of questions on whether there are health pots or not.

Anyways, if you download the high quality version of the D3 gameplay video, you'll see a health potion drop after the part where the barb broke through those skeletal shieldman and opened that 1 chest with the boss walking in the background.

Sorry, I've tried taking a screenshot of it on media player, but for some reason the picture didn't appear.

Anyways, if you don't believe me and really want to see it for yourself, download the video (550mb, I'm not joking) and go to 9:13 of the video. You'll see a "minor health potion"

But I believe I read that they are going to stop some of the potion abuse from D2. Meaning I'll bet they put a limit on how many you can drink in a given amount of time.

it would make the game much more difficult: much nicer!

Bashiok said that potions still exist, but that they might have a cooldown on them, they actually haven't decided it. I hope they won't have a cooldown.

who said there weren't potions? people who didn't follow the WWI coverage, I guess. One of the D3 team's most often stated design goals is to keep game play fast and minimize potion drinking.

WWI D3 Design Fundamentals panel (http://www.diablowiki.net/WWI_2008:_D3_Design_Fundamentals_Panel#Combat_and_ Tactics)

We haven't gotten rid of potions entirely; they're just less core of the game. We redesigned the health system. We tried a lot of ideas. We tried a Halo kind of shield system with a very quick regeneration, but it didn't give us the effect we wanted. It forced players to leave combat to recover health and we never want that. We always want the player moving forward, and we want the pace of play to be fast. No WoW system of stopping to drink potions after a fight. We view Diablo as a very fast paced active game. Little to no downtime is one of our goals.

The great thing about health globes that drop off of monsters when they die it encourages players to fight on, whether they're low or high on health. It creates positional gameplay where you need to consider the type of attack based on where you are positioned and where the monsters are located. Our health system forces the player to go someplace they don't want to go. "Oh no, I need to get that thing, but I have to get past 10 monsters to do it." It's really exciting.

I included a question about this on the list for the upcoming blizzcast, since as any experienced d2 player knows, counter to what they said in the panel, potions are hardly ever needed in d2. Early on maybe, but high level characters do potions only in huge emergencies, with with leech and regeneration taking care of red/blue 99% of the time. So will there be leech in d3 on everything (like d2) or will it be a rare property only on some very special items (like d1) and not a major gameplay factor for most chars?

Ya it would but not THAT much more difficult because of those new health power-ups you get when you kill monsters which is a great idea btw im so glad they brought that in
