My favorite parts of DII were rushing, cow level and solo Mephisto runs for magic find. I hope they bring them or similar tasks back in the new game.

I'd like to see some items drop a little easier, so that people who play 10 hours a week or so can expect to find many of the good items.

Rushing = Skip most of the game to just get to the part you feel like doing...
Cow Level = Satirical level designed for fun, not farming (excuse the pun)
Magic Find = Repetitive play for the express purpose of farming specific items

Frankly, I hope they leave the lot of them out.

I don't want rushing period, I want to actually play the game

Cow level is ok, I would hope that they have a similar "satirical level"

Magic Find:
I like it, however I would hope that they make it so you get equally rewarded for clearing areas then clearing bosses (if not more so for area clearing)

At first I though the thread topic was sarcastic, lol. Many players would like to see these elements toned down or removed entirely, though clearly some want them to stay. I'm looking forward to seeing how Blizzard handles the situation :D.

I have mixed feelings. After so many characters I just want to just skip the early stuff. Although sometimes I want to take it slow.

Rushing ruined the game, sure looking up cheat codes when I was a kid was fun, but now I realize it really spoils the intended experience. Not to mention rushing brought about way too many quickly powered players who still didn't have a clue how to actually play the game, something that really annoyed me.

Mf is dangerous, makes people want to get everything then spending hours and hours and months searching for it.

Totally agree with you there.

For me that is a major part of how replayable the game is. I've completed the game with 6 different characters all the way up to ACT V hell, all solo.
At this point the most fun is collecting unique and set items, just to tick off the list. I have been playing D2X in bouts of 2/3 months every 5/6 months for years now and I still enjoy MF, probably because I only do Single Player, with only the individual character's own gear.

Playing through the game properly can be fun... and it can be a barrier to the fun.

Let players make that choice for themselves and play the game the way they want to.

I would hate anti-rushing measures put in place, such as level restrictions on gates or not being able to take party members' tps to areas you've never visited.

I say keep it all, but change the satricial level to something new :D

I think the cow level should remain D2 only. If they want to put in a bonus level or 2, it should be something new. Maybe Marines from Starcraft or peons from Warcraft. Heck, even a you've go bad and can go slaughter the NPCs in town. Whatever it is, it should be something new.

I think magic find and rushing are both broken mechanics. Most people roll two characters, one that can operate independently of good gear to do MF and the other to use the gear they find. If they aren't using the gear, they're ebaying it and making cash off it. Magic find needs to be removed because you should be using upgrades, not selling them or twinking another character. MF is also only truly viable for a few classes, which is also broken. IF it is in the game, it needs to be an equal opportunity skill.

Rushing is partially a product of the lack of a respec system and of the MF problem mentioned above. If the classes were more balanced, meaning I could roll a class that I wanted, I wouldn't care so much about having to replay the game because the class I like is what I'm mainly playing. Secondly if there were a respec system, I would have to reroll because I messed up a spec. Rushing shouldn't be in the game because it allows player to subvert content and thus lessons the challenge of the game.
