I think it would be nice if you talk to Cain or someone and he has an option where you get to look in his book. The book is essentially SOME of the information that you would find on arreat summit (equations, how leech works, descriptions of what "crushing blow" means for crying out loud, etc.). All of this stuff should be in-game and at our fingertips so we don't have to go searching the web for it.

As for the full list of uniques and magic prefixes/suffixes, this would be spoiler information so I was thinking it could get added to the book as you encounter it in the game. For example: you find the riphook bow, Cain id's it, you sell it and forget about it, but it now appears in Cain's book in case you ever want to look it up.

For spoiler monsters information, it could get added to the book after you kill X number of each monster.

Runes you encounter or witness in trade screens should get added to the book, and so on.

Maybe there could be a blank page where you highlight sections from the book and post all the info you want relavent to your chr (instead of having a carbon copy next to your computer monitor).

I like a lot the progress book idea.
All your experience, encounters and findings accessible from it.. it's good! Better if you could own it instead of Cain, however.

About the formulas, instead, I'd prefer they wouldn't be needed.
So no more breakpoints (+20% will add.. 20%!), no absurd exceptions (Prevent Monster Heal doesn't work on merc?), no wrong results in the Character Screen.. all more intuitive and clear! The game will teach us exactly and in simple words. We don't need a Diablo math book to play the game well -_-'

For example, about a special attribute like Deadly Strike, Cain would say "that is an incredible ability that will double the power of some of your weapon strikes". You'd see just the % on it and the long description would be inside the book. Who explains that in D2??

Great idea. That would save so much alt+tabbing.

That'd definitely be nice, having an index of magic mods (only after you've seen them) and a list of the unique you've gotten (even if you decided to get rid of it). Also less misleading info on the character sheet, and break points for FHR, FCR, and IAS. Hopefully the transition to true 3D will allow for smoother speed changes, not simply cutting a frame from the pre-defined animation for casting, attacking, etc. I think this will be the case, as they list damage per second (DPS) on the weapons, and throwing a shael into something and seeing the DPS not change.. Well, that'd irk me.
