Hi Hardcore's..
atm i'm playing a paladin, soloing everything on B.Net.
i'm level 40, and haven't died yet, so i was wondering;
is it harder/easier soloing on HC than on regular B.net? i mean, without dying.:scratchchin:

No, it's no harder or easier to solo there is just the risk of permanent death, which creates the illusion of it being harder since you must be more careful to stay alive. Also you must devote more to survival skills instead of pure offensive builds.

It's not harder or easier, you're just being a lot more careful now than you'd be on SC because you know one mistake and it's over.

Hmm, only level 40. I would assume not NM yet, and since a Paladin, a Hdin. Hmmnn...

It's harder to make it to level 90.

It's not harder to kill any given enemy.

It's easier in that I'd probably quit around level 5 if I had to go back to SC, if that's what you're asking...

I'd say it's a bit harder if you like to rely on groups to get you through the places you're not good at. In hc, the tppk problem makes such endevors unthinkable to many.

If you try your best not to die in softcore as well like I do, you'll find hardcore to be identical, the only difference being at some point when you maybe make a mistake and die, your character is gone. Which I find to be nothing more than overzealously punishing yourself when you don't need to (like chopping your head off because you spilled your milk), but since others clearly enjoy it, that's totally up to them and it's good to have an option between the two, regardless.

Yeah I guess it is harder to make it 95+ in HC since when the playing time of your character increases the chances to make mistage or get lag or whatever increase and if you are unlucky you lose the character for good. There isn't any other differences.

Hc is harder in the sense that in softcore, even if you make a "for fun" oath not to die, you wont have the pressure of constantly having to worry about it and being alert of your surroundings, since that all it is, a "for fun" bet on yourself, and the game will carry on after your demise.
In hardcore its a whole different story that you wont know until you DIIEEEEEEEEEEE.

The first 5 minutes after you die is the hardest...
Other than that it a piece of pie.

Hc is just as difficult as SC... its just that the punishment for stupidity is a bit harsher.

HC is harder.

Harder to level up

Harder to find games where you're questing and then don't suddenly get killed to trigger hack.

Hence the... HARD...core...part.

It's not really a matter of playing defensive or offensive, you just have to play a little more active and alert. Ready to smash the juves at any second when you do something dumb or brave.

^ I do the same thing in SC. When I die in SC I get super pissed and want to bash the monitor in because I lost 2 weeks worth of exp. In HC I just get mad at myself for even attempting it.

Next time your SC char dies delete him. You just created a HC char.

No, because the gameplay in SC is different. You cannot just find Trist/Tomb/Cow/Baal games to level up randomly to 85+ in a day in HC, sure if you know enough people you can hot that high, but otherwise not gonna happen. SC though, its easy.

So no, even playing SC with a no die rule is not HC, youre just to chicken to take that final step, so either do it, or enjoy your white name tag.

I would say it's harder, but the main difference is what you can feel when you'll see "YOU DIED" on your screen.

priceless .. and unique experience in the same time
