Seems like most of the people in Diablo 2 that act like jerks or run pickets are sorc or din players, mostly the dins. Id personally give up the necromancer as long as pallys don't come back, they seem to be the class all the kids flock to.

Indeed, I'm sure I'm going to catch some flames for saying this, but good Id be happy to see the over powered class go, I think it is comparable to hunters and shamans in Warcraft, played by kids who want over powered players

I don't think the toll-ish witch doctor can ever come close to replacing the necro, its like putting squares in circles but with themes. Necro is a book worm who lives a shut in life and studies the dead, not a medicine man/troll/thing. I personally wanted to roll a necro since I like the idea of the class but I needed to get a gear finding foundation with a sorc.

Pala in D3 does not equal Pala in D2.

If palas are in D3, chances are, they won't be overpowered. All this "please don't bring back blessed hammer" or whatever is just stupid, since IF they bring back blessed hammer, it won't be ridiculously OP like it is in D2 now...people seem to think that D3 will port over all the mistakes from D2.

(No, I'm not a pala fanboi, I'm a 'Sin fanboi)

It's not the paladin they flock to, it's his abilities.

Its also his goodie-goodie theme, same with warcraft, kids flock to the "good" side. Then again, in a way horde is the good side since alliance are a bunch of slave masters a traitorous back stabbers. :P

kids don't flock to the "good side". Kids flock to the "foh shizzzle - hawt pixelated nekked night/blood elf? FAP FAP FAP!"

yeah, it's whichever char is overpowered in the current build that all the kiddies play. Every idiot on bnet was a WW lance barb back in the D2C days, then they were all firewall sorcs, then burittozons, then nova sorcs, then LF zons in cows, etc, etc. These things are cyclical and perpetual.

I'm aware of lancer barbs and fire wall sorcs, I remember seeing them around 1.09-1.10, but the nova sorcs, IIRC, are expansion and were before the WW barbs. As for LF zons, I don't know what LF stands for but if you mean Javazons, then they originated from the expansion too.

Flux nailed it. People don't flock to a specific character because of what it looks like, what skills it has, or anything else to do with the character itself. People DO flock to whatever character is the most powerful at the present time, period. The rest of us, who aren't playing the game to define our lives in some pathetic 'My character pwnz all of yours' way, play characters for the reasons I initially stated. In other words, we enjoy playing them!

As such, it is ignorant to declare "people who played pallys were jerks." In the entire time I played DII I never said "this class is just full of retards!" Inevitably, every patch brought some variant of a class that became overpowered, a mass of players started using that variant, and temporarily ruined the perception of that character class. Then another patch came and changed the balance of power, resulting in some other variant being the popular character to play. I guess my real point is that I loved the paladin, would like to see it come back in some way, have nothing against necros or any other classes, and really don't like when people make broad, hostile comments that are pointlessly subjective.

Seems Flux unwaringly touched upon a few classes that you play.

I totally agree with the OP, perhaps for different reasons. I found the whole meaning of a paladin became a joke because of all the evil people who play them. I hope there is no holy man chr in d3 because it makes no sense to have holy man powers in the hands of evil kids. Barbarians and WD's though do make sense because it's OK for barbarians to be, well, barbaric for instance.

So the hero classes (good guys), imo, should all be sort of "bad guys" in design so that the characters make a bit of sense when the brats start using them. It's sad, but it would help a lot with immersion. So I would like to see sometihng like: Barb, WD, sorc, theif (bow/traps), beastmaster (idk, dark summoner)?? The idea is they all have potential to be rotten evil characters if brats are playing them, or good guys if you play them respectfully. Either way, it could make sense. A paladin (or holy man alternative) is not going to make any sense at all when masses of jerks start playing them.

I hate paladins so much that I want all the tortured bodies in d3 to be paladins. This should be their punishment for stepping outside of their rigid rightous ways. Also, it makes sense that the evil forces taking over should rip the paladins to pieces if they get to chose their victims.

Edit: just wanted to add: Death to the paladins. May their annialation be complete.

Well I'll see you in d3 where I can get smited all day lon--oh wait...no other diablo 1-2 heros in d3 says Blizzard? Ha Ha, smiters gone forever!

Good bye wretched paladins.

Edit: it may be some time before the smell of paladins is fully removed from Santuary.

Nah, they started in D2C. They were pretty underused though. I think the promise of magical javelins in LoD really sparked their fire though because when that got closer to release I was getting people rolling their eyes at me for "making a javazon for the expansion."

I personally hope there is at least one grossly overpowered class. Beating hammerdins with a ghost assassin was one of the most rewarding parts of D2. It's more fun for the people with interesting and original characters if there are hordes off over-confident cookie cutters.

Kids are going to play D3 and they will flock to whatever class is popular regardless if paladins are in it or not. The whole logic behind your post is flawed. Having said that, no matter what game you play you will run into a lot of antisocial behavior ..this is after all a hobby that requires you to sit inside in front a computer by yourself being pseudo social through keyboard interaction. In this day and age kids and a lot of adults spend their time indoors infront of their PC not learning/training their social skills

LOL. Yes, 'Noobs' are gonna play whatever class is OP if there is one. Personally, I thought Hammerdins suck, but I think the same of Necros, so I won't miss any of them. I am looking forward to see what class will be the most unpopular in D3.

Nonononoononono...

If theres a new d2 patch and the only change is that frozen orb has every single cold spell as a synergy and that the cooldown time was removed, im pretty sure all the blizz sorcs would go running to frozen orb. What im trying to say is that if paladins are back and blizzard balances them to make them not overpowered, there would be no problem at all.
