Well, make your choice.
Sorry for the multiple threads, all I did was hit the back button and edit and it showed all of them.

Wow.. voting on polls here is wierd. After voting, the results displayed in an old 2006 thread titled 'Are one night stands evil?' >_>
Paladin all the way, not because of what everyone thinks to be their OP spells, just the image they present.

First make a post, then vote. That way this bug of showing old topics will not bug you.

We will have a spellcaster, that's for sure. That's just obvious. Diablo can't be made without a sorcerer. A bad idea is the Amazon, because you can hardly make a male Amazon. Blizzard will probably add an archer-type character, and it will most likely be a Rogue.
Druids and Assassin are too far-fetched and the Necro looks too much like the WD, besides, not all monsters leave corpses (some fall of ledges and such).
So I have chosen the Paladin. Just make them a bit less overpowered. Hammerdins just are sick.
or vote and then back to this thread to comment.
We think the bug in the poll threads loading a random old poll after you vote could be fixed by deleting all the polls and letting the script reset, but since there are hundreds of active polls in these forums, that cure might be worse than the disease?
As for the vote topic, I found myself unsure of my answer. I picked Paladin after a bit of contemplation, which is odd, since I really didn't play Pally that much, and only ever enjoyed Zealot style when I did. I think I want all new characters, or if any return I want them highly modified and changed in balance and style. Paladin I wouldn't mind returning, but I definitely don't want him recognizably the same as he was in D2.
I enjoyed playing sorcs and amazons quite a bit in D2, but I don't want to see them return recognizably as they were. I want a bow specialist and a ranged mage with powerful battle spells, but I don't want just updated versions of those chars from D2. i want new and reinvented.
I second what Flux just said. If some characters will return I really hope they will be completely redone.
But still... It would be nice to play again my favourite Fanatic Zealot :)
I know my implementation of this build sucked but it was still fun to play ;)
My friend used to call me "Felis the Blender" :D

its funny, its like you plucked the thought from my head and posted it here. i did not vote but if i did it would have been the paladin. i personally did not want any to return as playable characters though i would have liked to see them as npc's. i also agree that i did not play the paladin much (never beat nightmare with him if i recall) but i played the hell out of the female chars still the only one who imo makes sense is the paladin.
and again i also agree that if any have to return i want them to be changed. a main reason i dont want the returns is now that they have male and female versions, only 1 is actually the hero from d2. the male barb was the hero and in his adventures would have learned amazing powers to be able to do what he did. now he is back to a level 1 loser who might die to a fallen? makes sense that the female barb would be level 1 starting over but why the male? "you killed diablo i know but now i have to test you again, go kill those 5 fallen and prove yourself worthy to me".
Good poll question, I hovered my house over the options for quite a while.
I chose the Paladin. I didn't like him in DII very much, I never played as one .. but that type of character just seems necessary in the Diablo Universe. A Crusader against the Dark, so to speak.
I don't mind if they completely turn the class upside-down, but the sword-and-board, knight-in-shining-armor really has to make an appearance as a class somehow.
We all already know that we are gonna have the Barbarian and the Witchdoctor as playable characters on Diablo 3.
because of the obvious similarity of Necromancer to the Witchdoctor, we can assume we will not have the Necromancer on the characters list.
so, my question is: from the other remaining characters that took part on Diablo 2, which one would you like to see the most on Diablo 3?

I have a reasonable anwer. It's been 20 years and accoridng to Blizzard quotes, the heroes who fought against the demons (the ones who did not go mad) have tried to put it all behind them. Thus, the barb we see in d3 likely hung up his gear and never went back to questing. After 20 years, we can figgure he got old and stopped honing his skills so he is no longer an expert at anything. Back to lev 1. It's kind of like university; after you've been out for a while, it's hard to get into that kind of routine again.
