I'm planning on running with my barb, but I am wondering how much damage the ce does.
I did him 2 times already, but both times were really slow because i was (too?) aftraid of the corpses. I howled but there was almost always atleast one corpse next to him. How much does one explosion do damage in a one player game (if that matters)?
Let's say i have 75 resists, 15 % reduce 4200 life, is there chance of me dieng to 2 rapid explosions or something like that. I'm a frenzier so I might have to take a hit or two each time if I want to kill him fast :)

Am I worrying too much?

If I'm reading the Arreat Summit correctly, ice boars have 4205 hitpoints in 1 player hell games. CE deals out 60-100% of the monsters HP in damage and it splits that damage 50/50 fire and physical. If you get nailed by a pair of 100% CE's it'll be a close call.

4205 HP
50% of that is 2103

75% FR: The fire damage is 525
15% PR: The physical damage is 1810
total damage per max CE = 2335

Thank you, I had forgotten that site has monster hit points too. What will most likely be hitting me is also the suicide mob, and they seem to have 2k+ hp, so not that bad I guess, but things can still happen.
Some more questions, what happens when I have 75 fire res and a dwarfstar for 15% absorb, do I heal for 5% fire damage? Can he be cursed? :tombstone:
Should not have traded away that stupid natures peace.
Also taking tips from people succesfully (or not) running him with a barb.

I don't run him with a barb but I know a lot of people do.

I think the trick is to leap onto him, howl, and only use conc or berserk till he dies, and make sure your minion isn't killing things left and right. I could be wrong though

Might even be prudent to get your merc killed and keep him killed if you intend to run Nihlathak for an extended period of time.

Can he be cursed?

He counts as a super-unique ergo some curses will not work on him. Off the top of my head the most common ones that don't work on him would be terror/howl, confuse, attract and dim vision.

I think he meant if Nihlathak can have the "Cursed" mod, being able to cast "Amplify Damage."

The answer to that is: Yes.

I would only worry if you're amped. If you're running with a barb, I mean. Otherwise drink a red potion and collect your key. Also, I didn't find it necessary to worry about my mercenary. He'll die unless you've got the gear for him, but otherwise he doesn't make the barb builds fail because he makes a body or two.

No, resists are applied first, then asorb, so say it's 1000 fire, that's reduced to 250, which is then reduced to ~210 by dwarf. You take 210 damage and are healed for ~40, so the net result is you losing ~170 hp, though if you randomly only had 210 hp left you would die before the heal kicked in. That doesn't factor in the MDR.

Getting your DR% from 15 to 50 will help a bunch, not just with CEs, but also with zombie charges. However you should be fine with what you've got.

And yeah, frenzy without nature's peace isn't ideal as it likes to attack everything for you.
