Welll im not 100% sure of that but watch the trailer for yourself and decide!
At the moment where that guy changes barbarian axes for those enchanted ones. If you pause you can see an armor slot which looks like its for cloaks!

And thats definitly COOL!

Hmmm...maybe your chr can look like a Roman with a red cape. Or a philosopher discussing the joys and privliges of light in their world.

Cloaks would be nice, since the Assassin Natalya in D2 had a cape. I was hoping my Assassin could have one too. That would have been pretty neat. At the very least it leaves open another avenue for defence/resists/skill which is always nice :)

I don't think there will be an extra slot for cloak. But I would like to see cloaks and capes come back from D1 only this time with visual differance from light armor. Makes more sense for a wizard to use a magical cloak that can take hits like a plate armor because it's magical.

What I've never understand about people claiming mages and wizards should have magical cloaks that gives them as much protection as a full plated armor is that if they are indeed as good, why would a warrior bother wearing such an heavy plate when he could also wear one of those formidable cloak?

I'd say because mages and wizards can handle the magical cloaks, but the warrior is much less skilled in the arts of magic so he/she will just do better with regular armor. Or something like that. :)

Yes, but Diablo isn't a game that discriminates based on class, so I imagine everyone can still wear every armor, if their stats allows for it.

Regardless, cloaks should be a look only if they're included, not a useful stat-producing item. Because some characters look good with them, others might look retarded.

Because the magic cloak gives caster boni while the magic plate armour gives melee boni :rolleyes:

Cloaks shouldn't provide "armor". They aren't meant to protect you from hits. What they should do is give you a chance not to be hit.

Which is what defence does in D2...

%age chance not to be hit.

Or if you want to look at it another way;

%age chance that when you ARE hit, you're hit in a heavily armoured place which absorbs the blow.

So, combine these together and you have explanations for defence for both light and heavy armours.
