I think this is a definate must for the WD wether it should be a skill or an item I dont know.I think it should come under as a very fast attack ,poison is a must but it doesn't have to be all poison but have things that incapacitate.Id actually be very surprised if the WD doesn't use one in fact it should be a class specific item although masks might take up that slot.

By the way I did a search on this and cant believe its bearly mentioned.

I can't either actually. That sounds like a pretty cool idea for a weapon. Only problem is the mask cause if I'm right the mask also has no mouth hole. You mention that the mask may already be the class-specific item for the WD, but even if it is that doesn't mean he can't have another. After all the zon has bows and javelins.

That does sound like an interesting ranged weapon. I liked the dart guys in Act III. Some sort of standard special effect or damage over time would be more logical than straight up damage.

Sounds like a cool idea to me, maybe they could give it a paralyzing effect mixed with damage over time.

Darts that get stuck in your skin until they explode. :tombstone:

They could also have ones that cause hallucinations. This would result in lower AR and cause you to randomly use attacks. Would be a nice skill for pvp.

Would a blowdart be 1-handed or 2-handed, or would both exist? 1-handed letting you carry a shield, with 2-handed giving a lot more AR.

I like it a lot. Great idea.

They might be implementing range. However if they aren't and increase in AR and maybe some extra damage would be nice. Though that depends on the ease with the WD might be able to get his AR up.

Cool idea.

I admit I did get a little chuckle out of picturing the fast animation of a blow gun strafe attack huhhhh puff, huhhh puff, huhhh puff .......

He could do Multishot with a pan flute, though.

Hmm, dual-wielding Annihilating Pan Flutes of Pandemonium sounds promising, I would certainly vote for that :scratchchin:

I wondered about the range thing myself, but I'm not sure if it'd work.

Assuming that, and the AR & damage was increased, would the damage increase be anything significant? I can't see the dart itself doing a lot of physical damage (unless it was a REALLY big dart).

You could give a bonus to both initial damage and damage over time. Rationalization being a bigger heavier dart carrying more poison.

You could shove them up your nose.

:)

Well, seriously (btw Pandemonium is spell in Wizardry 8 and there is one musical instrument - bag pipes - which cause the spell effect when used), blow pipe could be interesting, but from the gameplay video I got this feeling that gameplay would probably be more fast paced and spells/attack aimed on multiple targets that to relay on single target slow poison. Just a guess though...

I think there's a good chance that we'll see this. There were a plethora of ranged weapons in d2 and most of them were totally useless so they probably realize this. I think the damage would be more poison or elemental based, maybe with some darts causing curses. It gives the WD more variety for build options, and adds more to the ranged weapon genre, rather than just having bows and javalins viable.....for one class only mind you(i.e. Amazon). Widowmaker aside of course.

Be real. You can't possibly make an entire skill tree about monkey riding. Beside the obvious speed skills and some enhanced damage how would you fill it out?

When I read the title, I thought of a WD smoking a pipe. Glad to see that's not the case, haha.

A Blow pipe would be a nice item though, not a skill. Special kinds of darts + special pipe. I like the idea. + other characters can use it too, kind of like a hand gun if they want to keep distance for a period of time.

I officially DEMAND monkey riding as a skill TREE!!
First you lern to ride only small monkey... Later there are monkey of all sizes and colors! And an especially FAST little white monkey called Momo who is considered totally imbalanced and unfair becuz of her sick melee damage and lag generating leap dance.

I especially like the idea of having different kind of darts that you can use. That could apply to arrows/bolts for bows too.
- You can have low level darts to high level darts, with a level requirement.
- You can have all kinds of magical attributes to a stack of darts, like +x poison over y time, x% increased flight speed, x% increased range.
- You can have rares and even uniques.
- ...

It's a very good addition to the item pool compared to the plain bolts/arrows in D2.
