List or make up NEW weapons that might be in d3 or future xpac.

Diablo's weapons tend to be very realistic. Keep this in mind when brainstorming. However, don't be afraid to make up something quirky yet cool.

1. Chain weapon:I don't see any reason why Blizzard won't borrow and make their own the weapon of kratos from God of War. Of course, it'll be different. For ex: just a really long chain with ball works. swing it around. I see the barbarian using it.

2. double ended spear: ...Kratos... And of course it can be hybrid and have magic powers like a staff.

3. throwable bottles of exotic insects or disease bacteria (anthrax): self-explanatory

The chain weapon would be awesome and new, in terms of diablo.

I would like to see more throwing wepons, maybe like a boomerang*, or even cooler, a throwing disk! Like Xena the warrior princess had. I think that would be cool.

There have been many suggestions on this topic (and a thread or two i think) We've had everything from Blowpipes and Catapults to Flintlock pistols and whips.

I can only hope that Blizzard stay within the realms of sanity on this one and keep to the norm. One suggestion did peak my interest though and that was the Klingon Bat-Leth. That might be cool for a melee toon and not beyond the realms of realism IMO.

It has been confirmed that there will be no guns, anything you read were people just panicking over nothing.

I'll just cut and paste my old list from another thread:

caltrops
katana
Sai
Boiling oil/tar
nunchucks?
nets
bola
acid
slings
rock throwing
wrestling
strangulation
spiked armor
heavy horse lance
ball and chain
the one with the hammer head on a pole arm
barbed arrow
rapier
brass knuckles
blackjack
hot coals
bo
hook
the harpoon with the rope that Scorpion from MK has
smokebomb
The thing they did in Bloodsport where they pour glue on some bandages wrapped around the wrists and sprinkle broken glass on the glue.
Furniture (chairs, table legs)
The hidden switch blade from the combat boot in Cyborg.

uh...um...battering ram.
3 gold pieces between the fingers, lol.
marbles.

As I mentioned in the blowdart thread, when you see 20 or w/e different kinds of axes in d2, the redundancy is pretty obvious. They need to have fewer kinds of axes/swords/french names for the same weapons/etc and put in some different weapon types altogether.

I'd settle for sword-chucks.

In all honesty though, A ball and chain type weapon or nunchucks are pretty good.

List provided by Stillman

caltrops - better as I skill I believe, like a trap rather than as an active weapon.
katana - It's a sword - we already have those
Sai - too similar to the katars and daggers in my mind - hard to implement originally
Boiling oil/tar - skill
nunchucks? - has potential as a class specific weapon, but I think there should be a character/class motive for carrying such a specified weapon.
nets - skill, maybe for the Witch Doctor or a trapper
bola - see above
acid - Skill
slings - might fit well into the realm of the witch doctor
rock throwing - might have potential as a skill which allows characters like the barbarian to use their environment as weapons.
wrestling - grappling would be hard to implement in a game like the Diablo series
strangulation - seems more like a rogue's skill
spiked armor - doesn't this already exist in "attacker takes X damage"?
heavy horse lance - Not a practical weapon if not on a horse - and pikes already exist too.
ball and chain - Has potential if it can be implemented in such a way that is different from maces.
the one with the hammer head on a pole arm (poleaxe) - might be an addition to mace family
barbed arrow - skill in my mind
rapier - a finesse sword that would be difficult to implement well in a way that's original to pre-existing swords.
brass knuckles - I think this would need to be like the nunchucks - there has to be a reason for our hero to put his/her weapon away.
blackjack - might be a stun skill for a rogue character
hot coals - do you plan on keeping them in your pocket?
bo (staff) - Already have staves.
hook - Maybe as a skill, hard to implement as a stand alone item.
the harpoon with the rope that Scorpion from MK has - *groans* maybe as a skill... but yech...
smokebomb - skill
The thing they did in Bloodsport where they pour glue on some bandages wrapped around the wrists and sprinkle broken glass on the glue. - also kind of hokey, and with out the right character completely bogus
Furniture (chairs, table legs) - see brass knuckles
The hidden switch blade from the combat boot in Cyborg. Maybe as a skill...

uh...um...battering ram.
3 gold pieces between the fingers, lol.
marbles.

I don't think these really need to be covered...

I think it's important to distill this list down to a viable list - sorting out the hokey b-rated movie weapons and leaving in the practical ones. Also, while creative, many of these would be better as skills rather than items in their own right.

The greatest arsenal of weapons I have ever seen in the games I played was in Neverwinter Nights.

Too many fancy pancy weapons in the game will not tolerated :whistling:

I'd rather see a bunch of different axes, swords, and maces, really. Why make a weapon that's interesting and not much else? A whip is very NOT Diablo-esque, brass knuckles and such can't be implemented without someone saying "Imagine how many people you'd kill if you used a weapon", but I'm sure Blizz could just add an interesting polearm or two and be done with it.

Weird and wacky isn't Diablo, Diablo is dark age/medieval weapons that were good at killing things.

Well said.
I would like twin elven daggers, maybe for a ninja-type class.
