So I just started up playing d1 on bnet (ghost town).

I thought I'd try a bow warrior. I put every last point into dex so I could hit stuff, only to find he reaches his dex limit (60) at level 8, lol. I think I have 1 extra point of damage for all that dex (sound familiar?).

So am I wasting my time with this dude? Or, can I get enough dex gear to make him hell viable? My theory was that if someone tries to pk me, I can at least handle some punishment with the bow warrior before getting the hell out of there.

Anyway, I'm going to try a bow sorc now instead. Can someone tell me any spells that would help with his bow use?

I'm looking at the d1 wiki atm, but any high end strategies for bow sorc would be insightful. Thanks

I don't think you can "build" characters in D1 because of the stat limitations, The Warrior was made for strength and melee combat, while the Rogue was made for accuracy and ranged attacks. Due to the Warrior's limited Dexterity resources, it may not be wise to turn him into an archer any more than using the Rouge's limited Strength resources to turn her into a knight.

No, the DEX is not wasted,it is just as useful with any other weapon, since it adds to your ability to hit an enemy. But you have to get a proper sword and shield. And for that you need STR. I'd also put some points into health soon.Go easy on the magic, but make sure you can at least cast a town portal without running out of mana.Don't learn too many spells, just those you need. You can put some points into mana later.
Forget about a bow sorcerer. The guy is too weak.If you want to do melee, bow and magic, get a Rogue. My SP Rogue killed diablo in 2 min with griswolds edge. And she is good at magic too.
But I would keep a bow with every character, because sometimes it is the best or only way to get at some monsters, especially if your magic is weak.
